I'm starting this new thread as apparently our other one was over a year old!! shock

We'll have to do more gossiping to prevent this happening again.

Here's a link to the old one.

Good story line about Jim's abuse experience, well researched and written.
Will Shula and Alistair reconcile? It's one of my Polyanna moments, I don't believe they ever would have separated - well, not if I'd been writing the scripts anyway.

Was there any point to Lilian's party that I may have missed? hmm

LullyDully Sat 06-Jul-19 07:40:56

Just a " by the by "I suppose, he doesn't really featured any more. Has Phoebe really done 3 years at Oxford? How time flies.

shysal Sat 06-Jul-19 07:35:15

I think I heard Shula thanking Alastair for talking to Dorothy, I didn't know whether I had missed a reconciliation with Dan.

Daddima Mon 01-Jul-19 13:18:24

What was the point of Dan’s girlfriend? She was in a couple of episodes, disappeared, then Dan was apparently dumped!

Ditto Merelina.

Excellent performances and very good script. Poor old Jim - not what I was expecting. I was going down the cuckold route

Sara65 Fri 28-Jun-19 20:40:32

I didn’t guess that either, poor Jim, moving scene between the three men

Lazigirl Fri 28-Jun-19 20:35:02

You weren't wrong Dazed and I found it very sad and not what I expected at all.

DazedAndConfusedByLife Fri 28-Jun-19 18:07:36

I suspect it's a hamfisted storyline of Jim being abused as a child by the man who is in the wheelchair hence the mega wobbly he threw when he learned his keyboard had been played by wheelchair chap after Jim's swift exit from the party he didn't want a party is still a party no matter what you call it

I feel desperately sorry for Jim. His long suppressed painful memories that still hurt when they're exposed to daylight. sad

I do hope that I'm wrong.

Luckygirl Fri 28-Jun-19 17:26:35

I think the man in the wheelchair who sent Jim into a frenzy is Alistair's real father, and that Jim was cuckolded many years ago.

Nanoo15 Fri 28-Jun-19 16:36:37

Oh dear scriptwriters of the Archers, you really aren’t inspiring us at the moment. Very thin story lines. We want something to gossip about please!

merlotgran Tue 18-Jun-19 14:13:45

I don't think they've thought of that, Lazigirl. Eddie will be rubbing his hands at the thought of all those free apples grin

If Joe's 'Tumble Tussock' grafts have taken they could plant some in his memory. Are you reading this SWs?? grin

Lazigirl Tue 18-Jun-19 13:46:32

Flippin heck Merlot had to google that ?It does sound quite yummy, but don't fruit trees take a bit of looking after, as well as harvesting the fruit?

merlotgran Tue 18-Jun-19 09:49:43

Toby could branch out into slivovitz. grin

LullyDully Tue 18-Jun-19 08:23:44

Thought it wasn't such a bad idea. "Ambridge" is near Evesham so they could try plums.

NfkDumpling Mon 17-Jun-19 21:25:31

Aha! That’s a good possibility. Who invited the wheelchair bloke?

(

merlotgran Mon 17-Jun-19 20:50:38

Anyone else think Nocasha's idea is daft?

How can they plant fruit trees on any available space in Ambridge including gardens? What if the homeowner doesn't want a tree blocking their view. Who will actually own and manage them and harvest the fruit?

Eddie Grundy?

Lazigirl Mon 17-Jun-19 20:33:33

Aha merlot or should we call you Sherlock?

merlotgran Mon 17-Jun-19 09:07:31

Before Jim legged it, IIRC, there was an earlier scene where Fiona told Alistair she didn't know who the man in the wheelchair was but he might be the son of friends of their grandparents. She's got a flipping good memory!

So that would make him Jim's age?

Alistair's real father?

confused

NfkDumpling Mon 17-Jun-19 07:26:20

Jim seemed quite happy to see people until he spotted one person and left. I missed that it was the piano teacher. He did give up lessons - because she couldn’t teach him anymore. Perhaps something there which brought up something else in his past?

Peonyrose Mon 17-Jun-19 07:16:11

What an unpleasant character is Jim, nothing excuses his behaviour! I am getting fed up with Jill and Leonard too, wish they would retire together to the Orkneys. Peggy's control with her money over her family is getting ridiculous, setting one against the other, owoukd tell her to stop playing games and do what she want with her cash. As for Natasha! As an Archers fan of 40 plays years, I wish we had some more likeable characters, apart from David and his family, Pat and Tony and their children, there's not many. Sigh.....

annep1 Mon 17-Jun-19 02:22:29

Lazygirl and Mumofmadboys exactly what I thought.

Merelina Sun 16-Jun-19 22:51:03

Something nasty in the woodshed!

Avor2 Sun 16-Jun-19 21:34:33

What is wrong with Jim?????????
