It was a very spiteful programme as I remember don’t think I’ll be getting excited it wasn’t my kind of humour. Hope you enjoy it though

Hmm not really my thing either I am afraid.

I remember it years ago and the sketch they did with the Royals was hilarious. It was when the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret were alive and it usually showed them both inebriated ( both liked their booze ) and the Duke of Edinburgh with his gaffs and straight-talking.

I didn't find the original Spitting Image very funny, so I probably won't be watching a new version.

I used to like it when it first started, but like many other things it has deteriorated and now has a style of humour (if you can call it that at all) I just don't find enjoyable.

"ripe for ridicule" ? Why should we delight in ridiculing anybody. I would hate to be ridiculed in public and although some of those parodied say they find it acceptable, I just think it is a cruel type of humour. Maybe I'm just an old grump.

I don’t want it back. It was too cruel.

Great news. I thought it was hilarious in its heyday. Can't wait to see the first programme. Hope it lives up to expectation.

TwiceAsNice, I think you must be twice as nice as me! I take your point, but that sort of parody has been around for a very very long time, and is no worse than the political cartoons which most newspapers have. It is a way holding those in public office to account. I believe the Queen loved it. Perhaps it was the Thatcher sketches she liked..... Or the Reagan ones in which 'The President's Brain is Missing'.

I thought it was brilliant. At the moment I think we need a spot of satire more than ever before!

All the humour was based on rather nasty childish lampoon style characters, (accurate or not) and was taken off for a reason. Not my style. Obviously a ‘marmite’ programme.

It definitely harmed David Steel. And no one deserves to be portrayed as a slug.

I doubt the Queen loved seeing her troubled sister portrayed as a drunk.

Not my kind of humour so probably won't watch. I also think what was acceptable "humour" back then would not be acceptable now so the programme may just fall flat.

I thought it was hilarious 1st time round and my first thought when, first Trump, then Johnson were elected- time for a new series of Spitting Image. I wonder if my friend knows, she was headhunted for a job making the puppets back in the day, but couldn’t take it because she was settled in E Anglia with young children. Now they’re adults, it might be her chance!

There's been very little satire on TV for ages, and Spitting Image is just the programme to spike the pomposity and self aggrandisement we've been enduring recently. Bring it on!!

Nothing they could have puppet Boris say or do could be more ridiculous that what Boris Johnson does in real life. How can you lampoon someone who is already seen as a bumbling swivel eyed loon?
