I've found another new drama, in my attempts to take my mind off other depressing events!! I enjoyed it, so far.

In the words of the BBC "The Capture is a six-part thriller that looks at a troubling world of fake news and the extraordinary capabilities of the intelligence services. In this ‘post-truth era’, can we really believe what we see?"

I was hoping she was still alive Gonegirl!!!
Intriguing drama. Got no idea what is going to happen. Love it!

Dont know why but just didnt fancy this. Finding A Confession very good and very moving.

I'm transfixed by this programme. The cut in the cctv recording when something like a bus or lorry passes was amazing - and could it be copied in real life??? I too am not sure who is the 'goodie' here. The blonde woman - the DI? -with cropped hair appears to be in on it somehow. It's an unusual and enjoyable series. But I'd like to know - and hope it is explained in the end - why the focus is on this young soldier in such an intense way

I think it's really good, and a bit different. I too was hoping she'd be OK. I fast forwarded through the finger scene...wimp!

Rachel, the detective, obviously now thinks Shaun has been set up, and she is suspicious. Hope she doesn't get "removed" for getting too close to the truth, whatever that may be.

And what is going on with that grey haired American guy at the house. So many questions.

And why is it called The Capture? All very interesting.

Eloethan Wed 18-Sept-19 17:40:59

doesn't it mean capturing a static or moving image?

glammanana Wed 18-Sept-19 18:27:46

I find it riviting viewing and can understand now how they are doing it,the blonde Head of the Team is now trying to steer Rachael away from her suspicions isn't she,I wonder if Rachael will be removed from the case now she suspects things aren't right and that Shaun is innocent.

I am also finding this an excellent series. There are parts I don’t completely understand but it will all come together eventually I’m sure. The lead actor is very good, I believe he was in War And Peace but I can’t remember what part he played.

Jane43

Was he the brother, the one who had an incestuous relationship with his sister?

grapefruitpip Sun 22-Sept-19 18:13:21

This is so good.

TerriBull Sun 22-Sept-19 18:31:00

It's morphed into something a lot more sinister than where the first episode appeared to be taking us. Quite original though, in a sea of tv dross, it's certainly very watchable along with the Monday evening series with Martin Freeman et al, name escapes me.

I didn’t think I fancied it but have caught up on my iPad It’s complicated isn’t it ? I do like the main actor Sean I watched the fingers with horror but now really foxed as it appears it was a con but how ?
how come Sean could see the detectives on the houses steps by looking down on them through a window? when he was shouting ‘I m downstairs’ and seemed to be in a room with no windows I was muddled
How did the friend suddenly know where he was and that he’d escaped
I will never believe a camera information again

Jane43 Tue 24-Sept-19 04:15:35

Calendargirl he might have been. It is on the iPlayer so I will look and see if I can find out. He is a very good actor in my book.

oldgimmer1 Tue 24-Sept-19 09:01:37

I'm finding it hard to follow.

The soldier actor looks like Ian Paisley as a young'un. grin. Very distracting.

Jane43 Tue 24-Sept-19 12:47:45

Calendargirl go to the top of the class. You are correct in the part he played and he played a cad so well. I watched an extract on You Tube and remembered that he seduced the Lily James character who the Paul Dano character was in love with and who he didn’t really care for at all. As you said he loved his sister. It has made me want to watch the series again.

seacliff Tue 24-Sept-19 21:41:25

Oh dear …….Rachel must be careful.

SisterAct Tue 24-Sept-19 22:13:33

What is really going on ?. Fab

BlueBelle Tue 24-Sept-19 22:30:12

Oh er it’s scary
Got to totsY disagree oldgimmer I think the soldier is quite a good looking bloke and I never ever thought Ian paisley was a looker
Yes Rachel take care oh er scary stuff

Jane43 Wed 25-Sept-19 17:31:37

Oh my goodness this is getting so good. It is one of the best things I’ve watched for some time. I think I prefer it to Line Of Duty and Bodyguard.

Callum Turner is one of those actors who command the screen when they are on, I just can’t take my eyes off him. He’s not good looking in the conventional sense but he is very attractive. I’m a fan and I hope he gets more good parts in the future. Holliday Grainger, (Rachel) is very attractive too, good casting. I don’t want this to end except I want to know what’s going on.

Washerwoman Fri 27-Sept-19 07:07:51

It's great isn't it ?Both DH and I are gripped by this.Much more so than the over hyped Bodyguard last year.
I'm surprised how many people I've spoken to haven't watched it yet, but have said they will catch up on it now.Excellent acting all round.

grapefruitpip Wed 02-Oct-19 21:21:44

Bodyguard was rubbish. The hand in the knickers thing...er no.

This is so much better.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 02-Oct-19 21:33:44

Agree

kittylester Wed 02-Oct-19 21:39:37

I love it! Can someone explain what's going on please?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 02-Oct-19 21:41:55

kitty ? that’s why I had nothing to add to my agree. I couldn’t!!

I reckon the CIA are running the UK

Grannyknot Thu 03-Oct-19 20:13:45

This is what I think (if I still remember from last night's viewing!):

The Human Rights barrister (Hannah) got involved in a plot with a bunch - that also includes the young soldier's male solicitor - to stage an incident that would prove that the previous terrorist case (the one where Rachel, the female policeman's lover is involved in) was staged and an innocent man was sent to jail. His sister is also involved with this group.

So they faked the CCTV that showed Sean assaulting Hannah. The plan was that Hannah would remain hidden and then it would be unveiled when Sean went to Court that CCTV could be faked (and that the terrorist one was faked), and she would reappear in a big reveal.

Then (I'm a bit fuzzy here smile ) - something to do with the CCTV video of the assault being leaked online - the CIA got involved with the British intelligence, and decided that Hannah had to be disposed of so they found out where Hannah was hidden, and killed her shock so that their fakery in the terrorist case would not be exposed.

Rachel (the female cop) has figured this out and she now knows that Sean is innocent, and her and Sean have teamed up to expose the whole caboodle. Plus Rachel was the one who alerted the CIA/Brit intelligence unwittingly, because she was asking her old team in the intelligence department, for help and feeding them info as to how the case was progressing.

This is as much as I know, from faking full-on attention whilst also knitting.
