I've found another new drama, in my attempts to take my mind off other depressing events!! I enjoyed it, so far.

In the words of the BBC "The Capture is a six-part thriller that looks at a troubling world of fake news and the extraordinary capabilities of the intelligence services. In this ‘post-truth era’, can we really believe what we see?"

It is so good and now there is a threat to his little girl. It's nail-biting stuff

Just watched the 5th episode,so one more to go, this series gets better and better.

I think he, Sean, looks like a young Richard Gere.

Yes, thank you granny knot, perhaps I'll start some knitting and see if it helps my concentration, as I was getting a bit befuddled as to who's good and who's bad.

BlueBelle Sat 05-Oct-19 22:45:18

I was alright up to episode 5 then got completely muddled with who was what and what was who

It has taken me until tonight to realise that Rachel's young sister is Margo from the Durrells ... smile

Good series ,kept me interested until the end.I wonder if there will be a follow up series with Rachel in her new role

trisher Tue 08-Oct-19 22:59:24

I think she's going to get up to things paddyann. Her conversion was a bit sudden and she did hide the sim card in the photo frame first (insurance?)

Gonegirl Tue 08-Oct-19 23:02:59

I'm hoping for a second series.

Well, I felt that the ending was most unsatisfactory!

Sean locked up unjustly - what a mess.

And Rachel and her sudden turnaround after all those impassioned speeches - I didn't buy it.

Very good series and thought provoking, thought both the male and female leads were excellent. The closing scene left the viewer with the an inkling there may be a follow up.

grapefruitpip Wed 09-Oct-19 09:14:03

Oh no.....downhill for me. The initial character driven drama became overtaken by tech twaddle . The ending was meh.

trisher Wed 09-Oct-19 09:59:30

I think the reason people don't like the ending is because we were all rooting for Sean and Rachel and thought she would get him off. She didn't, but then how often do things turn out all right? I thought the idea that he felt he actually deserved punishment was really vital.

Gonegirl Wed 09-Oct-19 10:34:47

So, did he actually shoot the IS chap when he didn't need to? Was that haunting him? It didn't look as though he had to shoot him.

tanith Wed 09-Oct-19 10:46:54

Yes I think he did shoot the guy, I’m completely stumped when it comes to the lawyer being captured and removed? What was that about? I think I must of missed something.

trisher Wed 09-Oct-19 11:01:06

I think he did gonegirl by the end he certainly believed he did, but of course at one point he was imagining he'd done something to the barrister. I thought it was a really good portrayal of a young man who'd been taught to fight and kill but couldn't cope back in civilian life.

Gonegirl Wed 09-Oct-19 11:02:04

I've just read this article in the Metro It suggests he was guilty of shooting the afghanistan bloke unnecessarily.

I don't feel quite so sorry for him now.

Gonegirl Wed 09-Oct-19 11:03:41

Yes. The taliban/IS chap was holding his hand up in a "don't shoot fashion", and he still shot him.

Well, I've got a bit more worked out this morning. Thanks trisher. grin

henetha Wed 09-Oct-19 11:04:40

I'm with BlueBelle. I lost the plot somehow...... {confused}

Calendargirl Wed 09-Oct-19 13:18:29

Yes, he definitely shot the chap who was just begging for mercy. As he said though, he told the story so many times he ended up believing it himself. That is why he was so resigned to his fate, as he felt he was being punished (rightly in his opinion) for the original murder.

Just finished watching last episode on catch up and am totally confused. I think it is to futuristic for me to understand.
