Started this thread as a diversion from all the political ones.
Only watched the first half hour as I wasn’t that bothered who was partnered with who really. Find the launch show a bit drawn out TBH.
Realised I only knew 5 of the 15 contestants, but that will change as the weeks go on.
Liked Tess’s gown, thought Claudia’s outfit looked similar to the PVC macs we wore in the early 70’s.

Yes, so did I, such a shame to see her and Neil go. Wrong result again!

Yehbutnobut Mon 02-Dec-19 11:14:53

Not wrong result. That was supposed to be a Samba?

Yehbutnobut Mon 02-Dec-19 11:17:19

I’m betting on Kelvin. Karim I agree is technically excellent but he lacks that something that Kelvin brings to the dance.

DanniRae Mon 02-Dec-19 12:27:50

Oh my goodness - what a shock last night - I though Chris and Karen were gone (and so did they, I am sure) and then they were saved by Bruno and Shirley. grin

grannyactivist Mon 02-Dec-19 12:33:54

I though the standard of dancing was extraordinarily good, but the right couple won the dance off. I like both Alex and Chris enormously and was very glad they got so far in the competition. Next week I expect Chris and Emma to be in the dance off and yes, I would like Karim to win, but both he and Kelvin are very evenly matched.

Millie22 Mon 02-Dec-19 15:03:11

It's getting so close now and there's a real possibility that Anton will get to the final this year at last after years of hopeless partners. I'm hoping Karim will win though as he's just so brilliant.

Calendargirl Sun 08-Dec-19 10:44:06

So what did everyone think to Strictly last night?
Personally, think it’s time for Chris to go. A few unjustified 10’s doled out also.
Although Emma is not the best, I do wonder if Anton just might get to lift the glitter ball eventually?

mcem Sun 08-Dec-19 11:33:01

Think it's time for Chris to go.
I'd like Kelvin to win with Emma next.

Charleygirl5 Sun 08-Dec-19 11:44:18

I also think Chris will go tonight. I am not sure who else may be in the dance-off but maybe Karim. I think Kelvin will pick up the trophy- he has been consistently good- superb for a non dancer.

I do not think Karim is getting the votes so unless there is some disaster next week I think it will be between Kelvin and Emma although I think Karim is a better dancer than Emma if that makes sense. Anton I think has been getting a lot of votes because of the multitude of no-hopers he was saddled with in the past.

Moocow Sun 08-Dec-19 11:56:46

Can't help wondering if people are voting for Anton rather than Emma. After all his years of being given weak celebrities. Chris' second dance made me wonder if it delibrate so that there isn't an all male final.

Would love to see Kelvin win but can't help thinking that Karim's fast dances might just give him the edge. Tough as they are both great IMO.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Dec-19 12:05:49

Some excellent dancing last night but I think Chris will go tonight.

I hope Emma & Anton don't win just because Anton gets the pity vote as I think Kelvin and Karim are better than her.

I preferred Kelvin's dances this week to last week. I loved the quickstep he did.

I suppose it depends on what they are given to dance. Much as I like Chris's personality and also quite admired him for insisting he wasn't going to do a sexy rumba, I think he would have gone sooner if he had not been given some comedy-type routines to dance where his personality and sense of fun shone through. Anyone given the Argentine Tango is going to have to be a good dancer. I love watching it.

Kelvin is better known than Karim due to his long stint on Emmerdale so maybe that's why Karim is not getting as many votes Charleygirl, although how do we know that?

whywhywhy Sun 08-Dec-19 12:11:57

I used to love to see Strictly but not this year, its more like Stricken! How the hell did Oti end up with her sister as a judge!??? That cannot be right for a start.

LullyDully Sun 08-Dec-19 12:40:25

It doesn't seem fair that they don't all get to do the Argentine Tango. It would soon sort out the sheep from the goats.

Yehbutnobut Sun 08-Dec-19 12:55:24

My money is on Kelvin.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Dec-19 13:33:18

I agree Lully - they should each do the Argentine Tango and the Jive, which is also hard.

Sara65 Sun 08-Dec-19 13:39:41

I wasn’t awed by any of the dances last night, but I agree, it’s time for Chris to go, I’m sure he knows that.

Karim is my favourite.

I think possibly Emma has done a couple of decent dances, but I really think she should have gone a while back, some of her dances have been awful.

Will miss it when it’s all over.

Ellianne Sun 08-Dec-19 15:35:38

Well we know who is going (Twitter).
I think Emma is benefitting from the Eastenders vote along with Anton's followers. We could be in for a surprise in the finals.

Charleygirl5 Sun 08-Dec-19 16:03:44

Sparklefizz I personally think that Emma being in Eastenders and Anton getting the sympathy vote gives Emma the edge re votes. I do not think she should win.

Sara65 Sun 08-Dec-19 16:18:08

I think Karim or Kelvin would be worthy winners, definitely not Emma.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Dec-19 19:34:01

Karim in the dance-off ????>???????? shock

jura2 Sun 08-Dec-19 19:43:36

Agreed, just unbelievable sad

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Dec-19 20:04:10

Well ! As Emma has got the Eastenders vote, and Anton has got the sympathy vote, I hate to say it but maybe they will win!

Sara65 Sun 08-Dec-19 20:08:11

I think it was the right result tonight, but I don’t think Emma should be in the final, she just hasn’t been consistent, some of her dances have been terrible.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Dec-19 20:35:17

Worryingly Emma sailed straight through. I thought she and Chris would be in the dance-off.

merlotgran Sun 08-Dec-19 21:05:26

Having Karim in the dance off was a fix so Emma and Anton would be in the final.

I don't care what they say about it all being down to viewers' votes, there's far too much jiggery pokery going on in these reality shows.
