Downton Abbey - the film

Looking forward to it, but I'm not sure when it will come to my town. Films tend to take a few weeks before they are shown at our cinema.

I watched a special on television last night Return to Downton Abbey; more about the set and how the show was made. I enjoyed it and look forward to the film.

I've recently seen it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of humour in it.

Just booked tickets for Sunday. DH wants to come too which surprised me.

I never watched the series as when it first came out there was a whole carry on about the channel that was showing it. It was off, it was on, then put to another channel, so, in the end didnt bother with it. Im glad you all enjoyed the film.

We loved it on TV and enjoyed the film but you had to have watched the TV ones. It was a bit contrived as all the loose ends were tied up and lady Grantham had her bit of news too ( will not spoil it for those who have not yet seen it ) . She was the last to sign up for the film and was reluctant to be in it . A feel good film it was like meeting old friends and for once our cinema in the afternoon was pretty full . Even better I had some unused Odeon points and we both got in for free . I asked what I could get with the remaining points , as they have stopped issuing them , and the answer was a small popcorn . I declined the offer .

Fiachna50 - give yourself a treat and catch up with the previous series. It is really really good!

I’m going to see it next week with my SiL and niece. Looking forward to it.

I saw it this morning with about 10 other people in the cinema. I loved it had quite a bit of humour too.
Do go see it.

We saw it on Monday. Just sat back and enjoyed it.

2 hours thinking about nothing but the story. It was fab!

I am going on Tuesday with my sister. Several friends have told me it is not to be missed if you enjoyed the TV series. Can't wait. Just love Maggie Smith

Sorry to disagree. I found the film boring compared to the series, which I loved.
Best I can say is it was two peaceful hours that didn't require much concentration (on a lovely recliner)

I went to see it last Sunday with my daughter who had never seen any of the TV series,she loved it and is has now watched series 1 and 2.I must admit I found it a bit contrived but was glad I had gone to see it once I had got over the shock of paying £22 for our tickets !

DH and I went to see it last night (reluctantly on his part) and it had everything you would expect - lavish costumes, beautiful scenery, terrible acting, humour and rather loose storylines. Two hours of easy viewing popcorn - bliss!

There’s definitely scope for a sequel - if there isn’t one in a couple of years I’ll eat my peacock feather trimmed hat.

I saw this film last week and loved it. It was like meeting up
with old friends again. The cast are excellent, and I love the house itself, - Highclere Castle I think.
I do hope there is to be another film. But was there a hint that one popular cast member might not be in it?

Me too. £5.99 at Vue with great seats.

It was a Vue my daughter booked via her phone I noticed cheapest seats £10.50 and then I think £11.50 and£ 14.50 I presume mine was the £10.50 as I am over 60 but didn't really like to ask anymore in case she thought I was being mean !I must say the seats were really comfortable (big red reclining ).I thought it was just me being out of touch with prices.

Sorry it was Cineworld not Vue

We went on Sunday afternoon.

I went on Thursday morning and yes Cineworld near me is more than double the price.

I went this afternoon - braving a cloudburst and some flooding on the roads. I had never watched the series but found the film agreeable if not gripping. There are many plot threads that will almost certainly lead to at least one sequel.
