Downton Abbey - the film

We went on Friday after the build up on here, I had to.
I enjoyed it though the plot was pretty unlikely.
Maggie Smith is worth watching as ever and the reclining seats at the Odeon were very comfy.

Just got home from seeing this marvellous film. I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes as soon as i heard the theme. I throughly enjoyed it and judging by the laughter and other sounds in the cinema everyone else did to. I truely hope this becomes a 'classic'. It is like a piece of social history on how the high class houses were run and how the family within lived. The downstairs staff are like old friends and i was so pleased that Barrow was happy in the end. Carson was puffed up with pride and Mosely all of a quiver!!!! lol. The stars of course were Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilson with their almost 'double act' of one liners. If you enjoyed the series you will love the film.

I went to see this last night and enjoyed it for the costumes and the settings, though I felt the storyline, on the whole, was quite implausible and far fetched. Having said that, there were some humorous spats between Maggie Smith and Imelda Staunton, and there were some moving moments in the film. I’m glad I went to see it, even though it was rather silly.

I enjoyed the film although not as much as the TV series. David Haig and Geraldine James were particularly good however.
Judy Garland film is next for me.

I'm not a great fan of Downton (haven't watched TV series since the first or second series) but I went with my mum to see the film and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely music, it's visually superb, great acting and, as others have said, funny and poignant moments. Well worth seeing.

I'm with Mapleleaf. It was all a bif far fetched.

Didn`t watch all the Tv series but have just bought myself the box-set!

I enjoyed the film with such great acting. I will miss Maggie Smith in the next film.

The clothes were fabulous.

My one criticism is that the ending reminded me of Agatha Christie books that wrap up each thread of the storyline at the end. I would have preferred to have had one storyline left for me to wonder how it was going to be resolved in the next film.
