Loved this program last night. Full of all the usual craziness and a few tear jerking moments. Hope there will be a new series, surely they can not leave us.... hanging!!! smile

Sara65 Thu 26-Dec-19 07:38:56

We watched it with friends, we were all a bit worried it wouldn’t live up to the last series, but we all loved it

kittylester Thu 26-Dec-19 07:51:15

We loved it and intend to watch the previous series again.

ninathenana Thu 26-Dec-19 07:53:21

It was tidy smile

I’ve never seen G and S will give it a go.

Pittcity Thu 26-Dec-19 08:21:16

You'll love it NanKate
I watched the first episode the other day and realised it was filmed before the smoking ban.
Last night's cliffhanger though......

dragonfly46 Thu 26-Dec-19 08:26:51

We have all yesterdays tv to catch up on so lots to watch over the next few days!

Persistentdonor Thu 26-Dec-19 08:27:20

Very good..... no spoilers please...... will they keep us hanging another 10 years for the answer?

gillybob Thu 26-Dec-19 09:44:43

I loved it too . There must be a follow up....surely.

Teetime Thu 26-Dec-19 09:46:45

Good fun and I love the characters especially Dawnie's husband.

Jane10 Thu 26-Dec-19 09:55:56

I love the characters too. Both families somehow ring true. I didn't think the end fitted though. No spoiler but it felt a bit like, 'Oh how can we end it?'

Nortsat46 Thu 26-Dec-19 10:22:31

Loved it, too.

ninathenana Thu 26-Dec-19 10:23:30

If you don't want spoilers don't read the press or FB smile

Callistemon Thu 26-Dec-19 10:48:47

We all loved it too.
Some of it was rather too obvious as DGD1 looked at me, eyebrows raised and started giggling. It went over DGD2's head thank goodness!
I can say no more without a spoiler.

Jane43 Thu 26-Dec-19 15:14:47

I was worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype but I did enjoy it. I wondered if they would just carry on where they left off or go with the real time lapse of 10 years. I think they were right to pick it up 10 years on and I think the young boy who played Smithy and Nessa’s son was lovely, great casting. I read that there may be more episodes so we may find out how the story unfolds. I will watch it again as there are usually things that I have missed the first time. I knew they named the two main families West and Shipman after serial killers but yesterday I noticed that the family friend was named Peter Sutcliffe.

Callistemon Thu 26-Dec-19 15:27:08

The children were all good but especially Neil the baby!

Callistemon Thu 26-Dec-19 15:30:28

Apparently Neil The Baby is the same child , he also played Smithy and Nessa's son 10 years ago!

Daddima Thu 26-Dec-19 16:09:21

What was going on with Gavin’s hair/wig?

Ohmother Thu 26-Dec-19 17:22:29

Cracked up with the couple singing ‘I’ll stand by you’ ???

gulligranny Thu 26-Dec-19 17:34:32

We loved it. DH had never seen the whole lot so a few weeks ago we box-setted. The characters are so real and you care for them as you would do your own friends. Neil-The-Baby was lovely, so devoted to both his parents. I am concerned that Gwen didn't make a single omelette, and will we ever find out what happened between Uncle Bryn & Jason ....

Callistemon Thu 26-Dec-19 18:07:02

It was the towels that got me laughing, a running theme throughout.
We all laughed at the conclusion of the towel saga!

What was wrong with Gavalar's hair? I won't lie to you - it looked ok to me.

grannyticktock Thu 26-Dec-19 18:12:40

We thought the role-reversed rendition of Fairytale of New York was pure genius. (Oh, and if you don't want spoilers, why would you even read threads about a programme you have yet to see?)

Urmstongran Thu 26-Dec-19 18:17:17

I loved it. An hour long special. Lush!

Ellianne Thu 26-Dec-19 18:27:27

Very funny. Love the family dynamics.

Doodledog Thu 26-Dec-19 18:31:32

I hadn't realised that Dawn and Pete were called Sutcliffe grin.

I loved it (and am chuckling at all the references to the in-jokes on this thread).
