On holiday at the moment and after dinner we are too exhausted to do anything other than read or watch TV. We would appreciate recommendations on good programmes on Netflix as we have started watching several but given up.

The Kominsky Method with Michael Douglas is very good, a lot about the problems of getting old, funny and sad.

Next in Fashion is a good series it’s a bit like Sewing Bee but with professional designers. Some of the outfits they make are amazing,

Alias Grace based on Margaret Atwood's book. Also The Most Hated Woman in America, both fact based dramas. Thought they were excellent.

I just watched Marshall, a really excellent courtroom drama, I strongly recommend it.

Fiachna50 thank you so much for mentioning Alias Grace, I’m really enjoying watching it

I have been watching Glitch. Different, a bit far fetched but once you start watching you want to know what is going to happen. smile

Thanks for recommending Marshal- brilliant!

You are welcome Jane. It's very good, if possible do read the book. I highly recommend it.

Jane43 Wed 11-Mar-20 18:47:52

Yes Fiachna50 I will read the book as I admire Margaret Atwood’s books. I have read The Blind Assassin and The Handmaid’s Tale. I watched the last episode of Alias Grace earlier, I thought the girl who played Grace was outstanding.

Last night I watched ‘The Leisure Seeker’, on Netflix.

Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland played their parts very well.
I did enjoy it, has anyone seen it yet?

Jane43 Thu 26-Mar-20 10:07:05

One for my ever growing list I think, thank you.

Haven't seen an awful lot on Netflix, "The Crown" very good, "Unbelievable" brilliant, I'd like to find a series as good as that one. "The Stranger" quite good. "Safe" ok, somewhat implausible. We'll probably watch "The Irishman" next.

TerriBull Thu 26-Mar-20 10:29:15

"Alias Grace" forgot that one, the book was brilliant and the series didn't deviate from what I can remember.

I enjoyed 'One of Us', only to find that I already had it on an unopened DVD, recommended By DD when it was on TV a few years ago.

I really recommend Shtisel. I might watch it again.

Is Netflix still streaming in UK, I think there have been problems with it in other countries.

Anniebach Thu 26-Mar-20 12:48:44

Are there box sets on Netflix? Not the Crown

Bobbysgirl19 Sat 28-Mar-20 11:14:26

Thank you Teetime for recommending ‘The Kominsky Method. Loving it!

Halfway through The Stranger, Lillipops and really enjoying it. Not sure why Heidi was bumped off, though, and was really enjoying her character. I drop off too, and have to catch up every time! smile I'll let you know.

unorthodox, I enjoyed every bit of it. A young girl`s `escape` from a jewish sect and arranged marriage

Greymar Thu 02-Apr-20 19:15:14

If you liked that, you may like Shtisel, slow, very slow but gentle.

craftyone Fri 03-Apr-20 19:34:25

I loved Shtisel
