Pleased to see This Country back Monday night BBC1, the third series. It's my guilty pleasure ?? I don't normally like a lot of swearing but after one of two episodes I just felt so sorry for Kerry and Kurtan I actually started to like them!
Kerry's parents are just so awful you can't help but feel sympathy for her. It's totally addictive! Anyone else here a fan of K&K?

It’s going to be sad too see it without Slugs sad

This has passed me by for some reason. The writers were on BBC Breakfast this morning and I made a mental note to try it. This thread has convinced me so thank you.

Jane43 - You will find series 1 and 2 on BBC iPlayer starting here:
Series 1 Episode1
Prepare to be surprised! And shocked. But you you will grow to love them ?

SirChenjin Mon 17-Feb-20 14:47:19

Jane43 I would recommend watching from the beginning first otherwise you’ll wonder what you’re watching! It’s a slow burner with the emphasis on building the characters so you really get to know them (and become quite fond of them!). The language is quite fruity - just warning you now!

Thank you Chestnut and SirChenjin. I will put it on my list of things to watch. Fruity language doesn’t bother me but thanks for the warning.

twiglet

I obviously knew they were brother and sister as I posted that fact but I didn't know their dad was also, well, 'their dad' in the series.

Thanks

And Len is played by their real life Uncle

Chestnut Mon 17-Feb-20 17:09:11

Wow, it's a real family affair! I had no idea they were all related in real life (except Kerry and Kurtan). They have hit a family goldmine. It has been very well acclaimed and has won awards.

My DH and I have just watched 4 episodes of series 1 today. Well we're recently retired and Storm Dennis is doing it's best to keep us indoors. Absolutely loved it . Thanks for posting. Very clever writing indeed

SirChenjin Mon 17-Feb-20 19:35:17

Just watched episode one of series three - perfect, as always grin

'And Len is played by their real life Uncle'

Thanks for that info.

They must be competing with Mrs Brown's lot smile

It's totally addictive! Once you get into the characters you just can't help but feel for them, laughing at them but so sorry for them at the same time ? ?

Were now now so addicted but way behind at the moment. Still I like a binge watch

Kerry and her new job at the recycling centre (aka the tip)

“Why go Christmas shopping when the dump is my John Lewis?”

POGS Tue 18-Feb-20 14:23:27

Couldn't agree more Kerry smile

Callistemon Tue 18-Feb-20 14:24:26

Talking about Slugs:
Kerry: ^‘This has got to be it now, surely.’ And then he’d get a second wind.”
Kurtan: “And then a third wind, then a fourth wind. I actually lost count of how many winds he had, by the end but I think he was on something like his 26th wind.”

RIP Michael Sleggs

POGS Tue 18-Feb-20 14:28:40

Out of interest.

You know how we all agree the acting is so natural, did anybody watch the BBC series ' King Garry' the actress who played his wife Kerry was so natural she stole the show.

As a TC addict I was a bit disappointed with the first episode series 3. Not so funny as previously I thought. Will wait and see if that was a one-off next week. It could be they have been unable to find comedy material as they said in an interview they can't mingle unobtrusively in pubs etc. now they're famous.

moggie57 Wed 19-Feb-20 10:57:33

i dont have a tv with digital output i just watch dvds. my brother puts anything on dvd that i want to see.

Alexa Wed 19-Feb-20 11:25:26

I think it's great. Kerry and Kurtan are so human and I like caricatures. The vicar is a lovely man too.

Pittcity Wed 19-Feb-20 11:27:27

It's on BBC1 Moggie57. You can watch iPlayer on the device you use to access Gransnet if you want to catch up.

Callistemon Wed 19-Feb-20 11:30:53

Chestnut , yes, Kerry and Kurtan are related- they are brother and sister in real life but cousins in the series.

Daisy May was in tears last night when being interviewed on TV about Michael Sleggs.

Callistemon Wed 19-Feb-20 11:31:18

Love the vicar.
