Pleased to see This Country back Monday night BBC1, the third series. It's my guilty pleasure ?? I don't normally like a lot of swearing but after one of two episodes I just felt so sorry for Kerry and Kurtan I actually started to like them!
Kerry's parents are just so awful you can't help but feel sympathy for her. It's totally addictive! Anyone else here a fan of K&K?

Some good lines in the latest episode, but overall not quite the standard set in past series IMHO.
Hoping for better next week.

Yes, I can see me becoming a fan. Watched it for the first time the other night. Simple in the sense of the word, but funny and sad. Good acting.

I’ve watched the first series and it is definitely my kind of humour. Do we ever get to see the shouting mother?

Alishka Mon 24-Feb-20 16:32:25

No Jane, she's not made an appearance. Yet.
I think her name's Sue?

Alishka Mon 24-Feb-20 16:38:27

This thing about the swearing, or the "effing and jeffing"as the Vic calls it. You know, I'd not actually noticed it? It's so part of Kurtan's character. Really well writtengrin

Do we ever get to see the shouting mother?
No, because, shhh, don't tell anyone, but she is played by Daisy May herself!

Alishka Mon 24-Feb-20 18:50:07

That figures Callistemongrin

Callistemon Mon 24-Feb-20 20:01:55

She, keep quiet about it!!

Callistemon Mon 24-Feb-20 20:02:42

That should say Shhhh

Autocorrect knew better

I’ve caught up with this now and am thoroughly enjoying it. Clever writing and acting from the Cooper siblings. Yes poor Kerry’s life is a series of disappointments but she always bounces back. I felt for her in the episode where she thought she was going to find out about her Dad’s glory days in the biker gang only to realise what a horrible character he really was.

Oh, I don't like to say this but I am a tad disappointed in this series.

Still only 2 shows in.

I’m enjoying this as much as the other two. The writing is so clever and the characters are just as they were left. Mandy’s reappearance (with her brick in a pillow case!) was terrifyingly hilarious as was Kerry’s reversing instruction! Love it.

I think it’s hysterical! That scene from last night, in the car with the vicar, when he didn’t realise the car had been turned around ???

tickingbird Tue 25-Feb-20 09:33:19

I was laughing out loud when Kurtan was attempting to drive the car last night.

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 09:42:35

And all the places they we’re going g to go to if he passed - like Gloucester services grin

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 09:42:52

were going to go

vegansrock Tue 25-Feb-20 09:44:18

Hilarious.

Beechnut Tue 25-Feb-20 10:03:58

I wonder what they would have to say about Gloucester services SirChenjin, as it’s different to the normal ones.

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 10:06:38

I love Gloucester services!

If you're around there, do visit.

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 10:19:11

So it’s not just a service station then? Are we talking Tebay level here?!

MerylStreep Tue 25-Feb-20 10:24:40

POGS
King Gary is my Son in law. Well not actally? but they could be twins ( but not quite so Essex as Gary)
Do you remember the episode where Gary's wife told him to not be such a Trevor. That's also my Son in laws name.
We were all watching that episode together, well, you can imagine the state of hysterics we were all in.
Then, to make it worse my Son in law went and changed into the same Lacoste top and black trousers that Gary wears sometimes ???

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 10:24:55

I've just looked up Tebay Services and yes, it is.
A farm shop, artisan breads, fishmonger etc etc

I can just imagine Kerry and Kurtan creating havoc there. In fact, I do hope that they visit soon!

Beechnut Tue 25-Feb-20 10:27:43

Snap Callistemon. I see they are owned by the same company.

SirChenjin Tue 25-Feb-20 12:32:54

Oh crikey yes - can you imagine their reaction to the overpriced artisan tat? grin

Callistemon Tue 25-Feb-20 12:35:46

I don't know if it's taqt

I love shopping there although I do still have my Melissa tea leaves in the cupboard from a couple of years ago!
