It’s just started and I’m liking it straightaway! Stellar cast. Imelda Staunton (love her). Francesca Anuns.

The series follows three adult siblings – Helen, Jake and Natalie – whose lives are thrown into disarray when their recently widowed mum Vivien declares she’s fallen for a new man, retired GP Mark.

As Vivien nears her 70th birthday, her children grow suspicious when Mark begins to shift her priorities away from her family.

Gorgeous location see the photo!

hmm well! confused

tanith Thu 27-Feb-20 22:00:57

Haha she’ll get her comeuppance, I enjoyed it .

bikergran Thu 27-Feb-20 22:02:37

So is there a follow up?

HurdyGurdy Thu 27-Feb-20 22:03:36

Well that's definitely left the door open for a second series, hasn't it

Lisagran Thu 27-Feb-20 22:03:48

Me being dim I’m sure, but who was in the body bag?

Jaffacake2 Thu 27-Feb-20 22:04:36

Liked the ending with Mary finishing him off,or so she thought ! Shock with him opening his eyes in the last minute . But why was Viv passing out ?

Jaffacake2 Thu 27-Feb-20 22:05:30

Yes who was in the body bag? It definitely looked zipped up in opening scene

Calendargirl Thu 27-Feb-20 22:06:36

UG

The inspector was played by David Bamber, been in lots of stuff, Midsomer Murders, and he played a drippy curate in a Prude and Prejudice, or some other Jane Austen series.

Do you think there’ll be series 2?

Dollymac Thu 27-Feb-20 22:06:54

So Mary has 'her' family back
I enjoyed watching it, comedic, intriguing and great that it was on four consecutive nights

Pittcity Thu 27-Feb-20 22:07:06

Didn't Mary have pills in the kitchen? I think she was drugging Viv.

Charleygirl5 Thu 27-Feb-20 22:08:18

Jaffa I still think Mark was giving her drugs to lower her BP and then she would faint.

I was a bit deflated by the ending- I thought it would have been more cut and dried.

Auntieflo Thu 27-Feb-20 22:08:33

Urmston I think he, the detective, David Bamber, has been in things like Grantchester.
I was also wondering whether George, Helen's husband, was the short sighted vet in the Specsaver advert, when trying to revive a furry hat?
He looks like him.

Calendargirl Thu 27-Feb-20 22:09:03

Pride not Prude, but maybe prude is better!

Auntieflo Thu 27-Feb-20 22:09:35

X posts Calendargirl.

Curlywhirly Thu 27-Feb-20 22:10:30

Yes, the body bag puzzled me too - I thought there were two victims, one in body bag (dead) and one still alive in hospital. But it looks like it was just Mike all along. Brilliant ending, especially when he opened his eyes! I've really enjoyed this programme, it had an end I understood!

merlotgran Thu 27-Feb-20 22:11:07

Mary might have spiked Mark's drinks to make him really drunk.

Calendargirl Thu 27-Feb-20 22:11:37

Auntieflo

Yes, I thought George was the Specsaver vet!

Urmstongran Thu 27-Feb-20 22:26:07

Oh thank you for putting me out of my misery Calendargirl! The detective was the creep in P&P. Of course.

Now I can’t remember his name ....
?
I drive ‘Himself’ nuts!

Urmstongran Thu 27-Feb-20 22:27:48

Definitely AuntieFlo the Specsaver vet. Well spotted. Paid his mortgage nicely I expect in the interim!

Urmstongran Thu 27-Feb-20 22:30:15

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this!
And the banter with you all.
?

No to a 2nd series though. That was just right!

Curlywhirly Thu 27-Feb-20 22:41:30

Oh Merlotgran Mary spiking Mark's drink!! Now there's a thought. I did wonder what the significance was of Mary handling the bottle of tablets - either she was drugging Viv, or spiking Mark's drink - hmm, not all the ends have been tied, have they?!!!

Callistemon Thu 27-Feb-20 22:42:03

I like David Bamber, perhaps I prefer quirky men!

BlueBelle Thu 27-Feb-20 23:01:14

I was wondering about the body bag too .?
I loved it and I hope there is a series 2
I like it being on consecutive nights I don’t have time to forget it
Good four nights entertainment

Lilypops Thu 27-Feb-20 23:08:00

Great ending I wasn't expecting that !! Surely there will be another series, can't leave us hanging like that , I thought Mary was odd all the way , now she's got her feet back under Viv,s table , or so she thinks ,

rafichagran Thu 27-Feb-20 23:18:43

I was deflated by the ending. I had guessed Mary had something to do with it. Mark was too obvious.
