Re the Salisbury Poisonings, I hope that Sergei and Yulia, wherever they have been relocated, are a bit more careful re security. He can't have been the sharpest of spies to have kept his original name, not to even have a burglar alarm fitted to his house, and to have photos of himself in his house wearing all his Soviet medals.

(I know an alarm would not have stopped Novichok being applied to the front door but still, it's the basic level of security for most people, let alone spies who have been double agents)

Mimi22 I was recommended This is Us and am almost finished series 2. The way it moves from past to present and future is seamless. I'm hooked.

As 've found myself unintentionally subscribing to Amazon Prime, I may well give "This is Us" a go as it comes highly recommended, once I've finished watching "Little Fires"

Netflix The Fundamentals of Caring. I would never have tried (or even found) this, but for a Mumsnet recommendation. A warm and funny road trip film with a difference. Not too long either.

I have been watching this and it is lovely. Tales of a family with stories of each character and how they all became linked. Something different but gentle with no violence or swearing. It is called 'this is us'

At the top of my list is My Brilliant Friend . It's the second part. The first one was a joy to see, so I have high hopes.

My favourite opera of all time, bringing back happy memories of seeing it in Salzburg with my parents in my teens and with Paw when we lived in London many years later and also in Prague.

I loved ‘This is Us’ but be prepared with plenty of tissues, some sad tears and some happy ones - every episode! Daughter and I watch ‘Queer Eye’ and ‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race’ great fun

Watched a Netflix series last night, Unorthodox, about a young woman who wants to break away from Orthodox Jewish life in New York. Very enjoyable and worth watching.

Not about tonight's TV but I'm watching James Martin's Saturday Morning programme and was completely engrossed in Dr. Annie Gray's anecdotes from her book, 'Victory in the Kitchen' about Churchill's wartime cook, Georgina Landemare.

I could have listened for hours. This is definitely a 'must have' to put on my Amazon Wish List. I'm tempted to buy the hardback rather than add it to my ever growing list on my Kindle.

Westendgirl is this the second series of My Brilliant Friend? I watched the first series which was very good. If it is the second series what channel is it on please?

They are repeating Strike by Robert Galbraith/JKR. I am enjoying it as much the second time around. It is on BBC IPlayer.

We watched The Luminaries on BBC1.
Dark, confusing and depressing.
Not at all what we need at the moment.

I have read historical fiction about the gold rush in New Zealand and the arrival of Europeans there and everything I have read is so much better than this.

Callistemon I think it is quite well done but do agree that it looks like it's going to be depressing. I'll watch the second episode and see if I'm interested enough to continue.

Kate1949 We don't have access to My Beautiful Friend as we don't have Sky. Has anyone read the book as well as seen the TV series and, if so, which is more engaging?

I've come to the conclusion I prefer the series that are not too long. The ones that go on for ever and ever I tend to lose interest in.
