Noticed there is a new version of Van der Valk starting tonight on ITV. Wonder if they will use the same theme tune?

suziewoozie Sun 26-Apr-20 19:02:06

Apparently not but there will be a nod to it - I loved Barry Foster

Ilovecheese Sun 26-Apr-20 19:04:44

I'm looking forward to it, and I didn't like Barry Foster so will not be nostalgic about the earlier series.

Thanks for the heads up tattynan. I no longer have my TV guide so I could have missed it,

EllanVannin Sun 26-Apr-20 19:46:40

The original version is on the Talking Pictures channel. 81.

Callistemon Sun 26-Apr-20 20:33:35

I just turned over to Primates with Chris Packham.

So much more interesting.
Even DH woke up.

Sparklefizz Sun 26-Apr-20 20:36:39

Not enjoying it. Thanks for that tip, Callistemon.... I will turn over too.

SalsaQueen Sun 26-Apr-20 20:38:16

I'd rather be watching the programme about primates. Him Indoors is watching Van der Valk sad

Jane10 Sun 26-Apr-20 21:58:12

Oh dear. Not enjoying it at all. Switching off.

crazyH Sun 26-Apr-20 22:00:12

Watched the Primates ?

merlotgran Sun 26-Apr-20 22:00:27

Loved it!

grumppa Sun 26-Apr-20 22:11:47

Hint of the old theme tune over the closing credits. Watched with half an eye, but wasn't gripped.

EMMF1948 Sun 26-Apr-20 22:14:09

Marc Warren seems all wrong, I always think of him as Danny Blue in Hustle!

gulligranny Sun 26-Apr-20 22:22:17

Storyline was good, we thought, and of course the Amsterdam background was great. Loved the nerdy guy with the glasses but - as EMMF1948 says - Marc Warren only ever plays Danny Blue! I think we'll stick with it, it's an enjoyable way to pass a Sunday evening.

Cherrytree59 Sun 26-Apr-20 22:29:50

Loved the theme tune
Eye level

Lucca Sun 26-Apr-20 22:33:55

Primates. Was fabulous. Loved the swimming and “ bombing “macaques

Callistemon Sun 26-Apr-20 22:38:54

The swimming and hanging around on the strings of bunting was wonderful.

I was struck by how much they look like us.

suziewoozie Sun 26-Apr-20 23:19:17

V der V was just awful - so disappointed , just wanted something to help spend a couple of hours easily instead it turned into count the cliches But somehow too inert to turn off/over

MiniMoon Mon 27-Apr-20 00:42:41

I didn't like it either. I watched it half heartedly with DH. If he wasn't in the room, I think I'd have switched off altogether and listened to the radio.

Coolgran65 Mon 27-Apr-20 01:34:08

Really liked the new V der V. Reminded me of a young Terence Stamp. Liked the one liners and loved Clueless. Will def watch it again.

Eloethan Mon 27-Apr-20 01:42:20

I thought it was dreadful. Horrible characters - especially Van der Valk - and very boring.

Beechnut Mon 27-Apr-20 06:54:13

I started to watch it and thought it was very slow so turned over and watched the NEWS of all things and then fell asleep.

ninathenana Mon 27-Apr-20 07:18:25

We enjoyed it. It wasn't riveting but it had it's moments.

Calendargirl Mon 27-Apr-20 07:23:56

Not keen. Found it difficult remembering who was who. I find the same with certain Scandi dramas, the foreign sounding names muddle me up.

Not interested in programmes such as Primates.

Nortsat Mon 27-Apr-20 07:29:24

I wanted to watch it and my partner was less keen, he found the interaction between the characters rather aggressive.
Then we found that we both wanted to see it through to the end to find out what happened.

We will watch again.
