Looking forward to watching this documentary about the Princess Royal as her 70th birthday approaches.
ITV 9pm this evening.

There is a clip in the daily newspapers (online) about how Anne helped her Mum the Queen to take part in a zoom conference.

Zoom wasn't my radar until covid19 lockdown.

Do young single couples have affairs ?

Gosh I can no longer say ‘I have never had an affair’, i had
quite a few

GrannyGravy13 Thu 30-Jul-20 09:45:35

Grany

P Ann had affair with Camila's husband bit of rivalry between them ha I've heard

I do not think that Camilla was married to Parker Bowles when Princess Anne allegedly had a fling with him.

It was about the same time Camilla was allegedly having a fling with Prince Charles, she then went on to marry PB

Callistemon Thu 30-Jul-20 09:46:26

welbeck

i was told that by a relative, who it seems was misinformed.

The incident was shown in much greater detail in another programme (sorry, I can't remember which one) a few weeks ago.

Grany you never fail to delight!
P Anne went out with Parker-Bowles before he married Camilla.
Can two single people be said to be having an affair?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 30-Jul-20 09:47:01

Oh Anniebach I do hope you enjoyed them ....... naughty but nice ??

Anniebach Thu 30-Jul-20 09:47:47

The documentary on Channel 5 gave much more detail on the attempted kidnap. Queen we never had...or something like that. She was quite brave.
Interesting documentary last night. Anne is a character. But all that bl**dy curtseying.
I think I would get fed up with all that bobbing up and down in front of me.

Really interesting programme. She seems like a lovely lady- just the trouble that she goes to before she meets people, to find out about them , when she could very well just do her bit, shake a hand and move on with a smile must make those people feel so worthwhile.
The image we usually have had of her is that she's a grumpy old bat, telling people to "naff orf" is a long way from the truth.
Her husband also seems like a caring man. The little insights and comments that he made about her made you understand what an undervalued member of the royal family she is.

Calendargirl Thu 30-Jul-20 11:03:11

I don’t think she’s undervalued jaylucy. I think the Queen probably relies on both her and Sophie Wessex to carry out many of the more mundane, but necessary duties and obligations that the more ‘senior’ royals don’t do.
I could be wrong, but I also think Charles realises what a valuable asset his sister is, and her role will still be important in the future, as long as her health and strength permit.

timetogo2016 Thu 30-Jul-20 11:10:31

Thats a new one on me Grany.
I don`t believe it tbh.
She`s more into horses the others husbands.
So many rumours and so little fact about the royals.
She is a very down to earth royal and hard working too.
I will watch the programme at some point when i can watch it in peace.

Sparklefizz Thu 30-Jul-20 11:13:33

I like and admire her. She's down to earth and extremely hardworking. It was good to see her husband too. She's always had a dry, self-deprecating sense of humour.

Charles will rely on her a great deal in the future. What a pity that William won't have the same sibling support when it comes to his turn.

Anne has had to accept that her importance in the line of succession greatly diminished when Andrew and Edward were born and she then became the least important royal child. I admire her for not asking for titles for her children and she gets on with life without drawing attention to herself through the media. My local hospice has benefitted for years from her patronage.
Edward, now, is a bit of a mystery to me. Does anyone know what he is quietly doing?

EllanVannin Thu 30-Jul-20 12:06:27

You tinker Annie grin

I enjoyed the programme about this great character, just like her father. She's not a bit perturbed about her " non-position " in the establishment and has just got on with her life. Her children are lovely too, far more relaxed and happy in the family environment.

Anne has always got on with things regardless and never made a fuss about anything. Her work has been continuous and she's never let anyone down. Nothing wrong with a person like that. Conscientious is her middle name. Well done to her. Like her mother, no slowing down or giving up.

grumppa Thu 30-Jul-20 12:15:43

No curtsying (I was with a group of tough yachtswomen) when I last met her. Just an exchange of straight from the shoulder comments. Great fun.

Anniebach Thu 30-Jul-20 12:36:19

Edward and Sophie do much , they have The Wessex Trust which supports young people

they carry out royal duties for the queen and Phillip, Edward is Patron of Paralympic GB and has taken on the work of
The Duke of Edinburgh charities , he will one day be the next
Duke of Edinburgh

Niobe Thu 30-Jul-20 13:40:42

I enjoyed the programme and the real revelation for me was what a lovely man Tim Laurence is. He has never pushed himself forward and has just got on with supporting his wife. Megan should take note!

EllanVannin Thu 30-Jul-20 13:49:40

I agree Niobe, a lovely gentleman.

Anniebach Thu 30-Jul-20 13:54:22

Phillip supports the queen. Sophie supports Edward. Kate supports William. Tim supports Anne. They all support the
Queen.

Probably because Edward and Sophie just get on with the work they do without fuss or fanfare.

Callistemon Thu 30-Jul-20 14:11:21

It was lovely, too, to see the Queen (perhaps then Princess Elizabeth) and Prince Philip enjoying time with their children when they were small.

V3ra Thu 30-Jul-20 16:03:17

I thoroughly enjoyed the programme. It showed the best of the Royal Family, the love and loyalty between them and their strong work ethic.
Something others could learn from, but probably won't.

Grammaretto Thu 30-Jul-20 16:19:11

I agree Niobe She found a really lovely companion for her later years and they both love sailing off the west coast of Scotland.
I like her much more since watching the programme. I also think she looked quite beautiful in her youth when I had always seen her as a rather gruff woman who resembled a horse.
She seems to thrive on that lifestyle. I don't envy her one bit.

TwiceAsNice Thu 30-Jul-20 17:03:06

I re corded it and watched it earlier today. I really like Princess Anne and thought it wa s a very interesting programme

Ellianne Thu 30-Jul-20 17:03:19

We saw a fun side to her, neither a stuffy mother nor grandma. I loved how she said the grandchildren weren't interested in doing flower pressing in lockdown, and how she was pleased they were just mucking about on their ponies. Marvellous down to earth attitude.
