Princess Anne at 70

I’m no great admirer of the Royals but I am going to watch this.
I think Anne is the most ‘normal‘ ‘of the lot and I do think she cares about what she does. I quite like the way she seems to take no b ****t.

Yes I like her and I think she does a lot of work but doesn’t go on about it. Just like Sophie Wessex she seems lovely too.

She seems to do the job with minimal fuss, recycles her clothes, refused titles for her children, so all in all, she's ok.

Another fan of Princess Anne here. Very hard working and as down to earth as a royal can be. Pity she won't be queen, I think she'd be as wonderful as her mother.

she refused to budge, which flummoxed him; the driver got shot, while mark philips scooted out the other door, into the park.
of course, he was seeking help....so he said.
can you imagine the scene when her father next saw mark !

Mark Phillips was in the back of the car all the time, first trying to keep the door shut, then hanging on tight to his wife to stop her being dragged out of the car.
The lady in waiting managed to crawl out of the car on the other side and seek help.

The gunman ordered Princess Anne out of the car and she replied "Not bloody likely".
Well done her.

She really is a very impressive woman with an amazing ability to absorb and remember facts.

The 'Naff orf' comment was a completely different occasion.

PA was fed up with press intrusion while she was riding competitively.

Zara and Peter seem quite down to earth and have enjoyed a warm family upbringing with their cousins.

I loved Anne's swinging 60s fashion, much more out there than the younger royals of today with exception of the Princess B's hats

I agree Anne would make good Queen.

Charles seems much older and doesn't appear to have the same zest for life.

Annie I agree that a Anne is very much her Father's daughter, her husband however did say that Mother and daughter share the same sense of humour and there is much laughter when the family are together.

The princess is almost a decade older than me, no way could I fit into my day what she fits into hers..
Her memory and background homework is astounding.

Nice to hear from her husband, Tim Laurence. Over the years he's been so much in the background he's been a kind of 'token spouse.' His comments are interesting.

It can't be ignored though that Anne was allowed to marry her mother's equerry whereas Princess Margaret was prevented from marrying her father, George VI's

I did see her last year and members of our group met her; she was absolutely on top of her brief and chatted very knowledgeably to them. They were only one group of several that she spoke to for some time. It was her 2nd engagement that day then she was off to London (from Devon) to another engagement then a charity dinner in the evening.

Times change they certainly do.

The problem was that Captain Townsend was divorced. In contrast, Anne was divorced and Tim Lawrence was single.

I thought the ‘Naff off’ comment was made when she fell off her horse one time, and the press descended and were taking pictures of her on the ground.

i was told that by a relative, who it seems was misinformed.

Princess Margaret was given permission to marry Townsend. She would have been able to keep her income and her title but any children would not have been in the line of succession. She decided not to marry him. It seems that the gloss had worn off by that stage.

I enjoyed the comment by Zara that her mother would often arrive home from an evening dinner in all her sparkly finery and just pull on her wellies to go feed the chickens.

She has mellowed as she has got older, I feel.

I have great admiration for her. She just gets on with the job, no fuss, a loving daughter, caring mum and granny, as a wife I think they probably rub along well, maybe better than a few years ago, with some shared interests and he being a big support in her Royal role.

She didn’t criticise younger members of the family, (oh to be a fly on the wall), but acknowledged what a goldfish life it is in many ways.

I've always liked her and thoroughly enjoyed the programme. I don't watch much tv these days, but I made a point of watching this.
