Hi,
I need to find something in the comedy/romcom film.
My friend is coming over who needs to chill and chat with a film to half heartedly watch at the same time. Glass in hand,
I just can't face trawling through Netflix or Prime as I have bread to make etc.
So any ideas would be gratefully appreciated

Ghost.... it’s got everything, gentle comedy, a bit melancholy, a handsome man, and easy to follow because you’ve probably seen it before, so you can chat.

Last weekend we watched ‘One Chance’ with James Corden, Julie Walters and Colm Meaney (from Star Trek).
It’s a really uplifting true story about a young working class man, who dreams of being an opera singer.

It’s moving and funny and well worth watching ...

We liked these on Amazon Prime:

Fishermens Friends, set in Cornwall and about a group of singing Fishermen who are discovered by somebody in the music business (Daniel Mays).

Blinded By The Light. A young Asian boy who is introduced to the music of Bruce Springsteen when he starts college. There is also a love story for him and family problems which he tries to resolve.

The Only Living Boy In New York. I can’t say say much about the story because I don’t want to give anything away but Callum Turner and Piers Brosnan play father and son and Jeff Bridges Plays a family friend.

Ghost town. It has Ricky Gervais, who I can take or leave, but he is very good ; Tea Leoni and Greg kinnear. It is funny and sad too and I really enjoyed it

The Guernsey Literary and Potato society
Lovely, easy to watch romance - plus a lot more!

Letters to Juliette on Netflix set in Italy so lovely scenery and a gentle story, I really enjoyed it.

If you have a slightly dark sense of humour it’s definitely Death at a Funeral with Matthew McFayden, Keely Hawes and Jane Asher. I’ve watched it about 6 times and still cry with laughter!

Oh yes to The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society.
Might be a bit of bias in that one though?

On Netflix - My Octopus Teacher - a documentary that's quite mind-blowing. Caveat - not sure whether it's on Netflix UK. -

“Never been kissed” is fab. So is Anger Management.

"Our Souls at Night", starring Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, is a lovely, gentle, & romantic movie about two older people. (Available on Netflix.)

‘It’s Complicated’ or ‘Book Club’.
Both hilarious!

Just before lockdown I saw 'The Good Liar' at our local town hall. Starring Ian McKellen & Helen Mirren. I can thoroughly recommend it, keeps you guessing right to the end.

Also, 'Knives Out' with Daniel Craig was an interesting whodunit.
