Good to see the new series of this. Looks promising.

Nicola Walker looking as miserable as ever, but I don’t suppose she had a lot to look happy about really.

Several back stories going on behind the obvious suspects.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Mar-21 17:41:23

Mokryna the strategy is to get dissent amongst the suspects, they don’t know which of them are in touch or not, plus, to hold them overnight, they have nothing that would stand up in a court, if challenged.

Thank you

It's probably me who has got hold of the wrong end of the stick, but wasn't it Matthew Walsh who assaulted Fiona?

Yes, it was Matthew Walsh, which is why Ram chased him after spotting him when they were in the car, I think confused

The entry for the final episode in next week’s Radio Times starts “Despite a tragic turn of events, Sunny and the team ......”. No mention of Cassie, though she appears in the cast list. I wonder ....

That is concerning! Cassie could be in the cast list from flashbacks.

Let’s hope Cassie is ‘only’ in hospital so Sunny leads the team. I do want her to enjoy retirement, she’s earned it

Sorry janeainsworth, of course it was. Although I'd concentrated on the series, I obviously wasn't concentrating on my little précis wink

Perhaps the 'tragic turn of events' is that whoever rammed Cassie's car dies?

Urmstongran Tue 23-Mar-21 19:06:11

I too wonder why Ram’s dad refuses to even look at him. Surely it can’t just be because he left the family business? My money was on Ram driving that car but reading posts on here from you super sleuths, it seems too obvious. But who wouldn’t mind if they died doing it? Hmm.

Iam64 Tue 23-Mar-21 19:16:17

Urmstongran, really good point. Ram must have broken some kind of family or faith code. I think it’s rare for a Sikh Father to dismiss his son that way. Ram is a great character isn’t he. Also Dean, what a back story emerged there. His wife and children seem well loved and cared for by him

JulieNoted Tue 23-Mar-21 19:20:09

Fiona perhaps? Of all of them she seems the most unstable, about to lose her living, her house, her husband. Those losses could be enough to tip her over the edge.

Or Liz? She has so much at stake in terms of her career, loss of reputation etc. I'm not sure she would be able to cope with prison. But on the whole I think she's too cold and calculating to put herself at risk like that; she'd find another way to get rid of Cassie without harming herself.

Charleygirl5 Tue 23-Mar-21 19:35:52

That crash was just so horrendous surely Cassie did not come out of that alive, never mind badly injured?

Re Ram and his father- could his father still not like the idea he joined the police force and has continued this sulk for so many years?

Atqui Tue 23-Mar-21 19:54:07

I’m pleased others agree with me about ‘spoilers’ .There’s not much point in having the thread, as pointed out by others, if you can’t discuss the programme as soon as it has been on air.
I thoughtbRham seemed most obvious ,mwhich is probably why he wasn’t the one that rammed Cassie. Another point- surely Cassie shouldn’t have disclosed Deans address to his estranged mother, especially as in the last series she was hauled over the coals for leaving a sensitive document in a cafe (;which I’m told would have meant dismissal,in real life policing).Any way can’t wait for the final episode, and must try not to get muddled with Line of Duty.

Urmstongran Tue 23-Mar-21 20:00:03

Yes and yes Atqui

Yes, it’s so much nicer to chat about the programme together properly.

And yes I agree about disclosing Dean’s address to his mum! What if Dean has been furious? Cassie would’ve been severely disciplined. Mind you it was understandable. She did say no at first. But then, the woman was dying. She ought to have asked Dean first but probably knew he’d refuse to see her.

Atqui Tue 23-Mar-21 20:27:16

If she dies it will be dreadful for her father having called her an **sehole and refusing her calls

Calendargirl Tue 23-Mar-21 20:33:06

Just thinking why ‘Unforgotten’ is such a good watch.

Unlike so many other police dramas, it has a quiet, almost restful quality to it, perhaps because they are dealing with old cases. Cassie, despite her personal issues, seems such a great boss, mindful of her team, giving praise and thanks when due.
Lovely relationship with Sunny, no distractions with torrid sex on the sidelines, the whole team giving their all.

If this is the last series, it’s a shame, but better to go out on a high.

mokryna Mon 29-Mar-21 21:15:37

Liz. Regrets one moment. Maybe using the pen to stab the boy with?

Calendargirl Mon 29-Mar-21 21:44:10

Always the quiet one.

Jaxjacky Mon 29-Mar-21 22:04:24

Very, very good.

Knittynatter Mon 29-Mar-21 22:04:52

Oh my gosh - so sad. I’m also in tears ??

Urmstongran Mon 29-Mar-21 22:04:58

Just cried my eyes out!! Dean Barton sobbing in the interview room just undid me. And then Cassie’s father sat on the bench, listening again and again to her voice and sincere apology (gulp!) and his own sobbing as she says ‘I love you dad’. Waterworks again. My eyes are like slits!

JulieNoted Mon 29-Mar-21 22:05:17

Oh gosh, I too am awash with tears ???
