Me too, Sarnia. It was hilarious and I really enjoyed it.
Long live Corrie!
Moisturiser - recommendations please.
Book Title by Their Authors (Parlour Game)
Freda and the implants for Aled. Now she has kidnapped the little chap to stop the operation. She comes over as the most impossibly selfish woman and I have no sympathy for her. One storyline that has disappointed.

Long live Corrie!
But as ever in Corrie land, and the same at weddings and funerals, we rarely see any extended family who live away.
Does no one have parents, grandparents, siblings, aunties and uncles who they meet up with at Christmas? It’s always just the neighbours. And Archdeacon Billy didn’t seem to be overworked with any Christmas Services, he was too busy doing his Elton John impersonation at the ivories.
I actually thought it was very disappointing and, frankly, just a bit silly. I expected so much more from the writers. As to Roy coming back, that whole story of him suddenly leaving then a 'surprise' Christmas return was just clunky!
Must do better!
I think one of the problems is that there are a few writers hence little continuity and some stupid scenes.
Who pays for the minders and babysitters? We never see or hear about Gemma's children now and she can go out and about as she fancies.
Few earn much money or even work but everybody appears to have spare cash for breakfast, lunch or supper out.
Eileen's Christmas present was a farce and I think distasteful.
Loved Kevin's thoughtfulness regarding Abbie's children.
I thought it was rubbish.
Tyron and the new man fighting in the street with a blow up unicorn?
Ridiculous.
I thought it such rubbish for a Christmas day showing that I emailed [email protected] and suggested new scripwriters.
It was pretty dire, I agree.
The storyline hasn't been moved on at all, and I had the impression that a lot of it had been filmed well in advance, so clips could be put together to reflect whatever the Covid situation turned out to be at Christmas. The Rovers being shut, and people dancing and singing in the street, for instance.
Have to agree, it was a bit rubbish yesterday, what with unicorns and singing vicars. I didn't recognise Daisy with her hair scraped back but at least she still has her hair, unlike Adam who looks 10 years older without his.
As for tonight's episode, Roy's sudden return from - was it Peru? This time because he 'suddenly realised' what he had done to whatsername - the goth girl. The bloke's obviously gone doolally. He only left because of what he 'had done to Sam'. He must have spent a fortune on airfares, all arranged apparently at a moment's notice, just like his new job.
Ah well, at least Sam is getting his voice back , Tyrone's Nanna has returned and the double act at the undertakers is in fine form. We just have to keep watching.
Oh well, I'm a simple soul, and I enjoyed both Christmas Day and Boxing Day episodes. It made such a refreshing change to have a bit of frivolity and normalcy rather than the usual high drama and "explosive" storylines we usually are fed at Christmas time.
As has been said time and again - it's a soap, not a documentary, so it doesn't HAVE to be practical and true to life (so I will just let go the ridculousness of Abi's twins' adoptive parents letting her have them on Christmas Day).
I hadn't even thought of that (about the twins) ?
I don't see it as a documentary - far from it - but soap opera is continuous drama, and relies on a certain amount of suspended disbelief. If we didn't believe to some extent in the characters we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Many viewers can remember the characters' lives going back years, and know their good and bad points, their various marriages and fortunes, and can speculate on what might happen next based on that knowledge.
People often scoff at soap and its viewers, but any conversation about a soap is actually a mixture of multiple character analysis, consideration of integrated plot lines and the merits of the various actors, as well as knowledge of how their real lives might impact on the storylines (eg an actor's real-life pregnancy or appearance in panto).
We do it all effortlessly too - we are all very clever on this thread, really
I too had thought the storyline about the twins stretched credulity. If the adoptive family had come over from Australia for Christmas, they would hardly have been keen to let their children spend the main day with their former drug addict mother, especially with all the trauma she has suffered in the past and the murder of their brother.
My sympathy for Abi is wearing thin. On the one hand she is moving on and trying to get past Seb’s death, then she is absolutely hateful to Kevin and everyone around her. He must regret marrying her at times.
I missed the two christmas episodes so must now catch up
Glad someone else noticed how awful Adam s new haircut looks he was much more handsome with it longer He now competes with Zedan for the worst head in Corrie
Oh calendargirl, you have written exactly what I have been thinking. Surely, Abi's behavior must count as 'stalking', and the police should be informed to stop it. Have the scriptwriters forgotten what an absolutely rotten parent was not only to the twins but also to Seb???
As for the twins story - well, that does stretch even our credulity a little far, in every aspect.
BUT....it was nice that the Christmas Day episode was such a happy and pleasant one. Past Soap Christmas day episodes have so often been 'dramatic' ones, this was very welcome. Doctors (although not on over the holiday), also made their final episode of the year an extremely fun one. Think this could be a pleasant new tradition for the future.
So good to see Roy back, hopefully some new story lines going to develop over the next few months.
NotTooOld queried Roy nipping over to Peru on a whim to start a new job. Peru seems to be the ‘go to’ place for Corrie pensioners to travel to. It’s where Emily went for several months to spend time with nephew Spider doing good works for the environment I assume.
Obviously no problems with visas, work permits, getting your pension paid over there, travel insurance, finding accommodation……
I keep hoping that Abi may have other things to worry about soon. There hasn't been any fallout from her one-night stand with Imran which is unlike soap scriptwriters. A positive pregnancy test on the cards? I thought Tyrone and Phil's bust up in the street was hilarious. Nice to have a change from doom and gloom Christmas soap episodes. I liked the look on Eileen's face when she received her Christmas present of a funeral plan complete with coffin. Well, if she must go out with an undertaker.........................
Audrey must be being lined up for a alcohol related accident. Why don’t we ever see her house? Does she still run the salon? We never see it any longer.
Audrey would have been comatose by mid afternoon, or had liver failure give the amount she consumed. The peacemaking Christmas lunch seemed such a disjointed affair and where was the food? David has looked after his family and cooked for them but amazingly he pointed to a completely raw turkey - which appeared to be balanced on top of the television - and told Sarah he had cooked it. How did she then get the enormous bird ready in time for lunch? Perhaps they will all have food poisoning given the way the turkey was handled and cooked. None of it seemed to add up and we became irritated with the silly story lines, again muttering about 'why do we watch this?' Pleased that Roy is back - 'hope he stays.
Calendargirl - ooh, yes, I'd forgotten about Emily going out to Peru to work with Spider. It's a funny old Corrie-world, isn't it?
Rosina, I think the lunch went as it did because it was filmed ages ago under Covid restrictions when only a couple or so people could be together. A more usual Christmas scene would have everyone round a table, and another plot line in the crowded Rovers, but this year we got a dinner with some people in the kitchen, Gail at the table, Audrey heading home, Steve running after her, Peter and Carly disappearing and Ken in a separate shot faffing with his bells (ooh, er, Missus!). Meanwhile the pub crowd were dancing in the street, suitably socially distanced.
I suppose it would have been difficult to put together an hour-long episode when they didn't know who would be down with Covid, who would be available in panto season, what the current restrictions would be and so on. It was clumsily done though.
Somehow EastEnders managed a coherent episode
I was waiting for an explosion or multiple deaths and was pleased it was just a nice, gentle episode with some happiness.
Emmerdale on the other hand….
Well I’ve just caught up oh dear oh dear wasn’t it dire there wasn’t one redeeming feature
The Tyrone Phil thing was blooming ridiculous as was the dinner and the out side party The only good bit was Sam saying a few words to Hope
