Freda and the implants for Aled. Now she has kidnapped the little chap to stop the operation. She comes over as the most impossibly selfish woman and I have no sympathy for her. One storyline that has disappointed.

Silly Steve gave Curtis his bank card and his PIN. I reckon he's going to make off with the money Steve collected for the baby, Oliver.
Bluebells - have to agree about Max being a good actor. He's got the cocky insolence of a teen off to a tee.

NotTooOld Sat 18-Dec-21 22:50:22

Sorry, I mean BlueBelle.

That reminds me of when my daughter was a child. We were watching something with a newborn baby in it. She started to look really serious for a minute, then said ‘Mum? That baby is such a good actor - how do they train babies to act?’ ?

Lucca Tue 21-Dec-21 08:03:19

So Daniel manages to qualify as a teacher just like that, when did he train ? Do his teaching practice ? And then handily gets a job in the school nearest to where he lives ……..now in last nights episode he tells Daisy he has randomly been put in charge of the school choir , which is complete nonsense. It would be a music teacher for a start. I know it’s all not real but come on……

Franbern Tue 21-Dec-21 09:35:03

Thought that Daniel was doing an 'on the job' teacher training, tha
t is open to someone who gained a First in their original degree. Sort of Apprenticeship. Mind you, with all the black marks he has already accrued on his record, he might never actually qualify.
I did wonder at that comment at being put in charge of the choir. That would be someone in the music department, not an apprentice teacher.
BUT.......Soaps in general are never very good at protraying anything vaguely like real life. Amazing that the Cobbles school is still open these last few days before christmas, when every other school in the country is now closed!!!!
Just agree with others on here at the excellent acting of the young man protraying Max.

glammanana Tue 21-Dec-21 09:48:01

Everyone is visiting the Christmas Market why are there none of the "Corry children" to be seen are they all upstairs cleaning their teeth or washing their hands ?

Aveline Tue 21-Dec-21 10:47:44

I'm liking 'no nonsense' Amy. She's an excellent antidote to both her Mum and Dad!

Calendargirl Tue 21-Dec-21 11:37:33

What on earth was Curtis wearing to get married in? The pink jacket and checked trousers put me in mind of Max Miller, or some other music hall entertainer. I kept expecting him to burst into song and start waving a bowler hat about.

Steve’s acting gets worse. He will soon rival the Baileys for Worst Actor In A Soap award.

Aveline Tue 21-Dec-21 12:01:53

I love Steve! He's so funny. Not much acting is required for his part really.

I loved the bride’s dress though I was doubtful that it was run up by the Underworld two!

Are Stuart and Jasmine going to be an item ?

Is Gary ever going to be found out for killing Kelly’s dad ?

Will Ken return to the classroom given Vince Cable’s suggestion?

Ailidh Tue 21-Dec-21 12:14:02

Gosh! I haven't watched Coronation Street since Fred Elliott, I say, Fred Elliott was in it but these last couple of pages make me want to give it a whirl!!

Calendargirl Tue 21-Dec-21 13:17:37

Go for it Ailidh

You don’t know what you’re missing!

The dreadful acting (by some, not all), the daft storylines, peculiar choices of clothes by the wardrobe department for some of the actors…..

But it gives us GN’ers a good laugh and a chance to say “Why do we keep watching it?”.

Aveline Tue 21-Dec-21 14:50:03

Ahhhhhh Fred Elliott! There was a character. Him and Curly at the 'Squaredealers'! So funny.
I think the new undertaker might be in the same mould.

Doodledog Tue 21-Dec-21 15:22:52

Emma looked lovely in her wedding dress. Curtis, on the other hand. . .

Daniel is on the Apprenticeship scheme. You don't need a First - just a degree.

I agree that Yasmeen and Stuart look set to be a couple. I had thought that Yasmeen was leaving, but apparently not. I quite like the Stuart character.

Who is it who fancies Dev? He has just made his first appearance in the 'Classic' Corrie (on UK Drama). He was very handsome as a young man, it's true grin

Bernie was having a brief fling with Dev recently but since that I don't think he has had a girlfriend. He had his eye on poor Natasha until she gently let him know she wasn't interested.

Aveline Tue 21-Dec-21 17:06:46

Erm...I fancy Dev blush
My dear son in law gave me a framed picture of his two Christmases ago!

sodapop Tue 21-Dec-21 17:29:58

Dev has to be among the bad actors on Corrie, He must be so irritating to live with.
I thought Emma looked lovely in her wedding dress as well whereas Gemma was so in character with hers.

NotTooOld Tue 21-Dec-21 18:29:44

Yes, lovely wedding dress for Emma but definitely not run up by Sean at the knicker factory! Did anyone notice the bright pink fluffy high heeled mules worn by Gemma? I thought Curtis looked like Rupert Bear in his checked get-up. Would any self respecting bloke agree to wear that?
I think Jasmeen and the homeless bloke probably will get together. Unfortunately he (probably) won't have the money to take her away to Australia and out of Corrie although he could be a secret millionaire. Yes, that's it. He will turn out to be the son of Lord Manchester and will inherit a castle or two. Jasmeen becomes Lady Manchester. That Kelly is a good hairdresser for someone untrained.
I have a feeling that Daniel and Daisy will get together after all. There were a lot of soulful glances in last night's episodes. Poor little Bertie. Where is Bertie, by the way?

Beechnut Tue 21-Dec-21 18:45:27

Last I heard NotTooOld Bertie’s childminder was giving him his tea.

vegansrock Tue 21-Dec-21 20:58:38

I couldn’t see any difference between Stu’s hair after Kelly’s haircut and before.

Aveline Tue 21-Dec-21 21:09:09

Yes. I thought nothing had changed about his hair. Of course I'm not an expert like Maria!

BlueBelle Tue 21-Dec-21 22:08:54

I m another who thinks Stu and Jasmeen will end up as a couple …ahhhh and Kelly will be chief bridesmaid
I want to ruffle Zedan s plastic hair up
Has Adam put weight on or is it his haircut makes his face look much fatter and much less good looking

How kind.

My daughter bought me some Pat Butcher earrings for a Secret Santa gift a while ago. As in earrings with pictures of Pat Butcher on them grin.

Anyway, to see a dishier version of Dev, check out Classic Corrie. It is on on weekday afternoons on UK Drama. I series record it and binge every so often.

Doodledog Wed 22-Dec-21 01:16:20

Rupert the Bear grin. Spot on, NotTooOld!

Sarnia Sun 26-Dec-21 10:24:05

Coronation Street's Christmas Day episode had me laughing out loud. Tyrone & Phil trying to be top man for Fizz; Abi with her twins surprise visit; Bernie next to Dev, clutching her bunch of mistletoe, hopefully; the Barlow & Platt's, bury the hatchets, Christmas lunch with Audrey getting quietly sozzled and Ken threatening to give a bell ringing recital and the return of not only Evelyn but Roy! One of the best episodes I have seen. Hope this augurs well for 2022.
