Hello
I’m not really a ‘feel good’ movie type; in fact I’m not even really a movie type.
However, DH is in desperate need of chivvying / cheering.
I know that I can rely on you… thanks

“Sunshine over Leith” ….. it is one of the happiest feel good films even ‘tho I hate musical films. I smile just thinking about it. ?

'Singin in the rain' I saw it when it first came out. When I left the cinema I felt like I was walking on air. The musical sound track is great, beautiful songs and fantastic dance routines.

Yes musicgirl the Christopher Robin one is lovely. I recommend it to everyone!

I adore Love Actually. It is a feel good film. Unquestioningly cheerful and gorgeous is Nativity and Nativity 2

I would recommend "Stardust" with Michelle Pfeiffer.

Mr Holland’s Opus is great. It was my late DH’s favourite, and we played music from it at his funeral last December.

"It's a Wonderful Life" "The Wizard of OZ", "Christmas Carol" with Alistair Sims, and "The King and I". Not that vile "Love Actually". It's utter crap.

Miracle on 34th Street. Definitely NOT the attenborough version, please watch the original ,and in black and white. A very young Natalie Wood player the little girl. Magic !

Got to be gorgeous, funny Christmas Chronicles 1&2 - you can oggle at Kurt Russell as FC ?? too!!
As good as it gets isn’t seasonal but is wonderful. As are all 8 Harry Potter films.
Now Voyager with Bette Davis is fab but my personal favourites of all time are Gone with the Wind and the old b/w Random Harvest - it’s far fetched but fab-u-lous xx

I saw an Australian film called Three Summers on tv last year and loved it, albeit being a rom com of sorts. Written by Ben Elton. And UP, once you get past the sad, but beautiful beginning, is wonderful.

And Hunt for the Wilderpeople if you like black comedies and don’t mind a bit of swearing.

Another vote here for:
-Falling For Figaro
-Blinded By The Light (Racist? confused)
-Wonder
-What We Did On Our Holidays
-The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society

And I also thoroughly enjoyed:
-Nanny McPhee and Nanny McPhee Returns (Yes, both children's films technically, but so very watchable - Emma Thompson at her best!)
-Starfish - sad, but uplifting at the same time. A true story.
-Lion - probably up there with my favourite films of all time. Based on a true story
-Me Before You
-Last Christmas
-Breathe - another uplifting, triumph-over-adversity story. A true story.

Hi daisy. Just watched the trailer for the last bus on tube but it says the film is currently unavailable. Where did you watch it or buy it from.

We found It on Sky Cinema, we currently have it on a special offer

One chance. Lovely film about Paul Potts. If only for the gorgeous scenery of Venice.

We’ve just watched “Finding your feet” with Timothy Spall, Imelda Staunton, Celia Imrie, Joanna Lumley etc, there is death but it is uplifting

Naninka Sun 19-Dec-21 21:33:26

Last Christmas- even hubby enjoyed.

benjamina Sun 19-Dec-21 22:08:05

Gregory's Girl is a 1981 Scottish coming-of-age romantic comedy film written and directed by Bill Forsyth. It's really funny and when I saw it when it first was released, I left the cinema thinking how good it made me feel. A real breath of fresh air.

You can get it free if you've got Amazon Prime Video, or buy it here: amazon.co.uk/Gregorys-Girl-John-Gordon-Sinclair/dp/B00004S8J6/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Gregory%27s+Girl&qid=1639952911&sr=8-3]]
