Anyone else watching Series 2? I'm relieved there aren't any explicit sex scenes in this one and like the 'love' theme.

Luckygirl3

No sex this time? - oh - won't watch then smile

I’ve watched a few episodes, lots of suppressed passion and heaving bosoms so far, beautiful ladies’ dresses though.

But they keep them on?

If you keep watching until around episode 7 there is some disrobing and subsequent passion LOL.

Lots of smouldering looks. Fantastic.

I’m enjoying this series more than the first, but does anyone else find Lady Danbury really annoying? Over the top acting and that blinking stick! Even in a carriage, she sits holding it at arms length. Maggie Smith shows how that sort of character should be played.
Some of the table manners in the episode I watched last night left something to be desired. Knives waving about, forks in right hand American style (Eloise). Julian ? had to mention this in Downton apparently. Not very aristocratic.

I watched the final episode last night and thought the whole serious was disappointingly tedious.

Anthony’s huffing and puffing got on my nerves and I can’t say I cared about his love life. Lady Featherington was the only character to hold my attention this time.

I do agree about Lady Danbury and that flipping stick! ?

hollysteers I agree with you and merlot re that stick. Lady Danbury is being played like a pantomime dame with all that grimacing (and although she walks with that stick, I noticed she joined in the dancing in one episode!!) Her eyebrows really bug me.

And like you, I noticed Eloise's poor use of cutlery. Plus Anthony is overdoing the puffing and panting.

Also in the deer stalking/hunting scenes, they were all crashing through the undergrowth without their rifles being "cracked" for safety. I am surprised they didn't shoot each other.

I think the huffing and puffing was heavy breathing to go with the smouldering looks.
