And the nurse Aggie and the slimy consultant- what happened with that story?

Namsnanny Sat 04-Jun-22 11:57:52

Well so far as I remember vegansrock, he resigned and moved on to a better job in US, leaving Peter bitter. Over in a split second. Perhaps I missed something, but I cant see Aggie getting off scott free from whistle blowing a consultant.

Corrie's Children social Services seem, similar to their GP, ambulance and hospital services, to be totally over-staffed and underworked.

Amazing how quickly they appear without any pre-warning to give out and take away children.

Can remember decades ago when I was involved in an accident and hospitalised - how long it took hubby to get SS to remove the two foster babies that had been in our (my) care as he was having serious problem looking after just our own youngsters.

Does appear as Toyah did try to kill herself and hubbie with the car - unless we find out in the future that something else happened (hot drink spilt on her? ), which made a knee jerk reaction which caused the car to accelerate into that scaffolding.

Namsnanny Wed 08-Jun-22 15:00:57

It does, doesnt it Franbern
Given how bleak her future would have seemed, it's not beyond the realms of possibility. Not for Corrie anyway.?

GrandmasueUK Wed 08-Jun-22 15:31:50

I haven’t watched Corrie for years, but yesterday I received a prompt for art, which was net. My first thought was Ena Sharples, so this is my attempt. It brought back so many lovely memories of watching it with my mum.

Doodledog Wed 08-Jun-22 18:32:35

Very accurate, GrandmasueUK grin. You can see who it is straight away.

Grannynannywanny Thu 09-Jun-22 09:50:52

Well done, that’s a terrific likeness GrandmasueUK. All that’s missing is her milk stout which was ordered every time she sat down in the Rovers! I would have recognised her immediately from your drawing.

Getting well fed up with the Summer/exams/ getting into ‘Oxford ‘ storyline.

Still haven’t worked out the ‘three dads’ relationship either, the eternal triangle of Billy, Todd and Gemma’s brother. (Is his name Paul, I have forgotten?)

confused

Doodledog Fri 10-Jun-22 11:05:13

Billy and Todd are a couple, and Paul is Billy's ex. Summer's adopted dad is another ex of Billy's, who asked him to look after Summer before dying.

Her biological father hasn't been in it (I think), so let's hope she finds him and goes to live with him if the scriptwriters can't give her better storylines.

Clawdy Fri 10-Jun-22 11:33:09

For some reason, I thought the dad who died was her real dad. Perhaps I'm getting mixed up with the death of Nina's dad! So many kids on Corrie with dead parents!

Doodledog Fri 10-Jun-22 11:54:08

Yes, Nina's dad was Malcolm from the 70s sitcom Watching, and Roy's long-lost brother (half brother?).

They do all have complicated lives?

Calendargirl Fri 10-Jun-22 12:01:59

I also thought that Summer’s dead father was her biological father, but he was an old boyfriend of Billy’s.

What about the nasty grandmother who didn’t want Billy to be Summer’s guardian? Was she not the real grandma?

She wanted Summer to live with her, many moons ago.

lemsip Fri 10-Jun-22 13:05:49

yes , an ex of billy's 'made' summer.... before he was sure of himself. so the grany was real grany

Franbern Fri 10-Jun-22 13:33:49

There are very many people, of both genders, who have their own biological children before actually realising that their inclined sexuality means that they prefer people of their own gender.

So, it is very common for people who are gay *and even transsexual) to have 'made' children.

My very first meeting with someone who had come out as transexual was a lovely, elderly lady who had 'come out several years earlier even whilst still living with their wife and bringing up their son.

Sandi Toxseg often talks about her daughter.

Doodledog Fri 10-Jun-22 14:56:27

Summer was born in 2004. As a baby, she was adopted by Charlie and Drew Spellman. Her godfather was Billy Mayhew, Drew's ex-boyfriend. Once thick as thieves, Drew and Billy drifted apart when Summer was a baby. After a year, Charlie walked out as he couldn't cope with the pressures of raising a child, and Drew continued to raise Summer by himself. As Drew was estranged from his strict Christian parents Angus and Geraldine Spellman due to his homosexuality, Summer grew up not knowing them. The result was a very close father-daughter relationship in Summer's formative years, with the girl inheriting Drew's book smarts and sharp intelligence.

Summer won’t get into Oxford she’ll end up at Weatherfield College doing resits even more miserable than she is now.

Aveline Fri 10-Jun-22 17:39:33

Don't think I can face her miserable face for the rest of the summer!
Back to the horrible brew at the Rovers, Toyah's plight, the snoring, bullied undertaker, the dodgy surgeon and Max's romance!

Calendargirl Fri 10-Jun-22 18:16:29

vegansrock

Summer won’t get into Oxford she’ll end up at Weatherfield College doing resits even more miserable than she is now.

Then she’ll get a job at the Rovers/Cafe/Bistro or Underworld.

lemsip Fri 10-Jun-22 20:22:43

oh dear, how drab does the barbers shop look, who'd want to queue up to get a hair cut there.

Calendargirl Fri 10-Jun-22 20:30:46

Surely Adam shouldn’t just be giving out doorkeys to all and sundry?

And why on earth are the ‘three dads’ organising a surprise end of exams party for Summer? The stress she has been having about these blessed exams, a flipping party is the last thing she needs.

?????

Abbie is bad enough, the thought if her bringing a baby up. Why are all the women neurotic on there, why so many young deaths ?

Aveline Sat 11-Jun-22 06:52:03

Quite a few strong women on Corrie! I like the way Liane is fiercely defending Toyah. Eileen, Amy, Tracy, Tyrone's Gran, Brian's wife for example.(Names gone! Mind blank!)

Calendargirl Sat 11-Jun-22 07:49:39

I tend to agree about Abi bringing up a baby. When she came into Corrie, she was a hopeless drug addict, her young twins were living in squalor, being brought up by Seb, a teenager.

She’s been in prison, been back on drugs a few times, often drunk, a varied love life, toted a gun, given the twins up for adoption, difficult relationship with Seb until he was murdered, boomerang relationship /marriage with Kevin……

Now suddenly she is hoping to be the mother she never was.

But always with perfect fingernails!

Alfie was better off with Toyah and Imran, I feel.

Aveline Sat 11-Jun-22 08:24:05

Toyah and Imran would have made a lovely family including the largely invisible Elsie.

Franbern Sat 11-Jun-22 08:51:43

Must say that when (distant past) my children and, (more recent times), my g.children finish their A levels, there are no celebrations until the result come out in August. Even then, any parties, or any other celebrations were./are with their friends, did not include parents, etc.
