Does anyone else enjoy this? I record it every weekday and watch after my dinner. I think I enjoy it because I seem to be quite good at it despite lacking knowledge of football and films. Of course there is nobody to compete with at home, but I usually beat the contestants to the 'buzzer' (unless there is a delay? smile). I hope it is keeping my brain active.

Love it

Just read that Richard is leaving Pointless! Boo hoo. But he'll be still doing House of Games. Hoorah. He'll do Celebrity Pointless and Alexander will have guest presenters.

Richard is a very busy man now. Steven Spielberg bought the rights to his Thursday Murder Club. Good going, Richard!

He's leaving Pointless now to concentrate on his writing, apparently. More like, he's sick of the hunter-and-proud-of-it idiot of a sidekick.

I’m Sorry this has come up on the other Richard Osman thread already. Ignore me!

Blimey I must have left me brain under the pillow! That last comment should have been on my ‘Pointless’ thread.

Actually it all seems rather pointless ... ?

Having read it I am agog at Steve Spielberg wanting the rights to make a film from The Thursday Murder Club.
I was underwhelmed, but it’s just my opinion.

I didn’t like the book AT ALL. ☹️
I couldn’t fathom what everyone was raving about!

TillyTrotter Fri 08-Apr-22 16:10:02

Those were my thoughts exactly . ?

It probably won’t resemble the book much when the film hits the screen.

I was underwhelmed as well but one DD said it was OK once she got into it.
The Steven Spielberg version will probably not resemble the book very much at all so that won’t be a problem.

Loved the book. And the follow up. But I'm a big cosy murder fan.

Are the 'celebrities' on House of Games becoming more obscure? I haven't recognised any of them over the last few weeks.

TillyTrotter Mon 11-Apr-22 19:57:40

Yes Vintage I think they are. I sometimes recognise only 1 out of the 4.
So many Comedians too.

Mollygo Mon 11-Apr-22 21:27:41

Recognising any of the celebrities is worth a point in our house-before the questions start. ??

Vintagejazz Sat 16-Apr-22 14:05:31

I didn't recognise any of them this week, or last week

Chardy Sat 16-Apr-22 18:38:19

I recognised (as in show me their face, I can tell you where I know them from) the 2 men last week, and the 2 men the week before. The very knowledgeable woman from the week before was on Have I Got News For You that Friday.

It wasn't the storyline that grated, it was the way it was the story was presented. I even gave it a 2nd go, and didn't get past the 1st chapter.

Imo, the Spielberg film can only be better than the book. I’m another who really didn’t enjoy the book. I think it only sold well because it had Richard Osman’s name as the writer. If it had been the first book by an unknown name, how well would it have done?

I love House of Games, I love R Osman, I feel he is like a very kind teacher explaining the lesson to the class! I really enjoyed this week's célébrités and loved seeing Mathew Horne and his wins!! I do not particularly like Where is K or the tablet rounds with the average number of the pair...too random!! I like the intro music rounds and the one where the words gradually fill up with letters of the alphabet best.. I dont generally like quiz shows but I watch this show every night after I've recorded it!

Great fun and I think Richard Osman comes across as such a nice person.
