New crime drama on ITV tonight, 8pm, starring Adrian (Ted Hastings) Dunbar.

My TV guide describes it as ‘a cosy Sunday-night crime drama in the vein of Vera’, in a windswept Northern setting.

Think I’ll watch it, and catch up on ‘The Capture’ on BBC1 later.

I'm quite enjoying it. Decent writing, good actors, and it's not a repeat.

Just caught up with last night's episode - weak implausible storyline, full of police procedure holes even for an authorised cop, let alone someone who's just "a consultant". Perhaps I'm expecting too much. I don't rate the female detective either, not sure why, but nothing seems to gel.

And the singing .... well.

Overall disappointing in my view.

I think this series is a bit too obviously contrived. Even the jazz singing is a bit 'stick on to add character'. Doubt I'll watch it again. 4/10. Could do better.

Well, I like it!

I like it. I like the singing too. Richard Hawley songs .. love Richard Hawley.

Hi Sparklefizz. As a teacher, I've never watched a school drama that wasn't riddled with implausibities (is that a word?)

Callistemon21 Tue 06-Sept-22 15:04:08

I'm always pointing out implausibilities to the annoyance of H but it's entertainment.
Midsomer Murders or Father Brown genre, not to be taken seriously (but not as good as either).

Callistemon21 Tue 06-Sept-22 15:04:42

H not DH (although he was H this morning!)

Callistemon21 Tue 06-Sept-22 15:04:55

Oh, give in .....

Calendargirl Sun 11-Sept-22 21:54:45

Oh, I thought it was going to be a duet tonight!

Poor old Ridley, he seems doomed to unhappiness.

Callistemon21 Sun 11-Sept-22 22:31:26

Another solo.
I didn't like her anyway.

LadyGracie Sun 11-Sept-22 22:44:19

I can't watch anymore.

Calendargirl Mon 12-Sept-22 07:15:45

I didn’t like her either Callistemon, and didn’t trust her,

Not surprised at the outcome.

His partner in the club obviously didn’t want them to get it together.

The whole scenario seemed a bit silly really.

BigBertha1 Mon 12-Sept-22 07:42:37

Last night showing was awful. Every cliche in the book. I really wanted to like this but it was daytime TV stuff.

BlueBelle Mon 12-Sept-22 07:47:04

Going off it

Ridley was watchable last night although rather slow moving. Capture we didn’t bother with it had become very slow moving and not credible, very much in the vein of Vigil, which also became tedious.

I didn't mind the first two episodes, a bit of light entertainment. Last night's episode however was weak and full of very obvious procedural errors. I find it hard to accept Adrian Dunbar in this role perhaps because of Line of Duty.
It's odd though because I enjoy Father Brown & Grantchester which are both as implausible.

BlueBelle Mon 12-Sept-22 09:20:48

Perhaps it’s because we expect better of him Sodapop
I found myself nodding last night

Callistemon21 Mon 12-Sept-22 10:36:49

DH nodded off, woke up at the end and said "What happened?"
I couldn't go through it all again to explain

I'm rather enjoying it.Not the most riveting police drama but good solid acting and an easy Sunday watch.Plus could listen to ADs voice anytime. As a northerner Bronagh Waughs accent is also pretty good for someone with a strong Ukstee accent herself.

Washerwoman Mon 12-Sept-22 11:52:34

Meant Ulster accent obviously!
