She actually spoke to Jeremy Hunt before she came on and said to him that he had a helluva job. She then said on air, what she wanted to say to him was F**k you. This sent the presenters into a panic.

Margolyes should have told Hunt what she thought of him there and then, instead of showing off on air.

No I didn’t, but going by other peoples comments I guess as usual she’s very rude. I’ve seen her on the real marigold hotel and her own travel programme, she does have some nice ways about her but it’s a shame with her language and her farting through the show, rude.

Or drop her knickers and moon at Mr Hunt. They really took a risk having her on at all.

Margolyes has been exactly as she is now since a very young girl/woman.

She appears to have been a very much loved but spoilt daughter, who got away with too much?

But she has some very good redeeming features.

She is extraordinarily kind and thoughtful. She has a very wide circle of friends, which I think shows that she isn’t quite so bad as some posts make her out to be. Her success as an actor shows a real ability, and her intelligence (Cambridge alumna) gives her a wit and real thoughtfulness.

Her language is extremely ripe, and her Anglo-Saxon behaviour shocks, but I would not condemn her.

She may not conform to society niceties but seems to have caught the mood of the nation just now, and why can’t old women behave disgracefully now and then, they’ve been keep in boxes for long enough?

She may be kind and clever, but her behaviour in public is purely attention-seeking. Don't forget she is a very good actress. She is acting the part of MM and you can see it in her body language and expressions. It reminds me of the child who wants to perform in front of adults to get applause.

At the end of the day we are all “acting a part” in this life Chestnut.

I was channel hopping a while back and saw a one woman show that she did and her memory and energy amazed me. She says she dislikes children but in the tv series that she makes (eg the one about Australia) she often talks to children and has a wonderful rapport with them.

It did make me smile.
