Did anyone hear her on Today Prog Radio 4 this am?

Blondiescot Sat 15-Oct-22 12:11:39

Well, I for one love her - she is what she is and makes no apologies for it. If I'd have been in her shoes, I'm not sure I'd have been able to resist a bit of rhyming slang when it came to describing Mr H!

At the end of the day we are all “acting a part” in this life Chestnut.

Well I'm not acting a part. Many actors and performers have a character that they become when they go on stage or in front of the camera. This is what MM does when she becomes that foul mouthed creature. She obviously has other parts for other programmes.

silverlining48 Sat 15-Oct-22 12:23:08

Yes I heard it. The presenters coukdnt stop apologising, but MM is well known fir her language. Thing is we hear it on tv bc BBC all the time without apology so wondering what the difference is.

Grandmabatty Sat 15-Oct-22 12:30:16

They knew what she is like when they booked her. Her salty language is well known. I can't be bothered with their faux outrage.

She's not a legend, she's an attention-seeking old bag. Her way of getting noticed is to be as rude and obscene as possible.

Well said, I also think she possibly has serious mental health issues and is being exploited by the media. I avoid watching or listening to her now, which is a pity as I used to enjoy her acting on radio comedy and drama series but no more.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 15-Oct-22 12:45:03

Whoever booked her for this live radio show knew what to expect, and they got it.

completely agree, I find her absolutely repulsive

volver Sat 15-Oct-22 12:47:54

What? Come on now, that's ridiculous. Lock her up for her own good shall we, because she doesn't conform to what we think a "nice old lady" should be?

I really hope that as I grow older I am never put in the nice little old lady box.

I intend to grow old disgracefully

volver Sat 15-Oct-22 12:54:48

When I am old I shall wear purple wink

pinkquartz Sat 15-Oct-22 13:01:22

I like her honesty.

and why should we be polite to a man who caused so much misery?

Kate1949 Sat 15-Oct-22 13:11:53

Her autobiography is erm ......
interesting.

Silvergirl Sat 15-Oct-22 13:19:54

I’m not really surprised she gets on well with children Maybee as I think she is kind of a child herself. I really enjoyed her book about her life. She seemed to be quite needy at times. always asking her peers if they liked her. She definitely has a potty mouth but I suppose there are worse things you can be.

MayBee70 Sat 15-Oct-22 13:23:01

She is. And she looks on the world in the way that children do and sees things as they really are.

This!
And such a shame. She appears on Miss Fisher Mysteries and does a good job there as an actress. Her attention seeking is the same as Eddie Izard-attention seeking, maybe to revive a fading career.

Georgesgran Sat 15-Oct-22 14:11:48

Not a fan either - I suppose she needs to earn a crust.

Farzanah Sat 15-Oct-22 14:14:41

So she swore on R4 and the verdict is
always looks as though she needs a good scrub and
possibly has serious mental health issues

Dear me.

maddyone Sat 15-Oct-22 14:17:36

I think she’s a revolting, foul mouthed woman.

Zoejory Sat 15-Oct-22 14:25:52

I'm surprised she didn't say it to his face.

You and me both! Growing old disgracefully is definitely the way to go!

Chestnut Sat 15-Oct-22 14:41:57

Who suggested locking her up? No-one. We will just avoid her, she can go round effing and blinding all she wants, we know what to expect and will just steer clear.

Legend!

Agree! Say it like it is.

Better to say it on air, where everyone in the country can hear it.

Keekaboo Sat 15-Oct-22 14:58:08

Go Miriam !

Say it like it is after all it’s what a lot of us are thinking.

GrannySeaside51 Sat 15-Oct-22 14:59:44

I did audibly gasp but was not ‘shocked’ as the Daily Mail claimed Radio Four listeners were. Granted Miriam Margolyes is a loose canon but I suspect I was one of many Radio Four listeners who joined in the loud cheer of “YES” that went around the country. Also, I think she believed she was off air, following an emotional eulogy for the late Robbie Coltrane.
