Did anyone hear her on Today Prog Radio 4 this am?

paddyann54 Sat 15-Oct-22 21:38:12

She only swore when she believed her mic was switched off ...or did she.LOL.
I dont swear .ever ,but I grew up in Glasgow where swearing is normal. My best friend swears like a trooper, its not offensive ,its just her .I feel like that about MM .I dont find her swearing offensive but I wish she had said it to his face ,for all of us who are of that opinion .

Knittynatter Sat 15-Oct-22 21:42:01

I think she’s fabulous!

NanKate Sat 15-Oct-22 22:26:44

MM makes me laugh, is a wonderful actress, is a terrible show off, but she does bring a bit of umph to any show she is on.

I loved her riotous autobiography which I recently finished, but it’s not for the faint hearted. The number of times she mentioned giving random men oral sex rather made me want to puke, but other than that it was a good read. ?

I'm sorry, but I find that hard to swallow. smile

she's swearing all the way to the bank

Blackcat3 Sun 16-Oct-22 10:24:55

Unlike many here MM is unfiltered but never unkind. I for one think she’s a fascinating and extremely talented person. She’d be my number one choice for a dinner party guest..farts and all!

maddyone Sun 16-Oct-22 10:33:33

I saw it reported that this woman has said she wished Boris Johnson would die when he had Covid. If this is true then she is an even more vile person than I thought she was. No one can make any claim to be an even half decent human being if one wishes other people dead!
I’m surprised by the number of accolades Gransnetters find themselves able to give to this woman. I dislike her intensely because she exhibits quite vile qualities, but I do not wish her to be dead!

maddyone Sun 16-Oct-22 10:34:49

never unkind
I think wishing people to be dead is quite unkind myself. Clearly I have different values than some on here.

volver Sun 16-Oct-22 10:39:30

What she actually said:

I wanted him to die. Then I thought that will reflect badly on me and I don’t want to be the sort of person that wants people to die.

So then I wanted him to get better, which he did do, he did get better. But he didn’t get better as a human being. And I really would prefer that.

No marks for honesty then? In this world today I wish people would just check things out and consider what people say and mean, rather that jumping to the conclusions that they are vile or need a good wash. And saying afterwards that you got it wrong, doesn't count. The readers of this thread now think that MM said Boris should die of Covid. Damage to Ms Margolyes reputation all done, and there's nothing you can do about it.

volver Sun 16-Oct-22 10:46:56

BTW I wish Putin was dead.

If that makes me a bad person, so be it.

maddyone Sun 16-Oct-22 10:47:00

I wanted him to die.
You’ve just said that changing your mind doesn’t make it okay. I haven’t changed my mind actually, but apparently she did and it’s okay. In my opinion she’s not a nice woman and I’m not going change my mind about that.

maddyone Sun 16-Oct-22 10:48:45

If Putin was to die, a lot of other people would not die, most likely as it is likely the war would come to an end. This argument can only be used in very specific circumstances which do not apply to MM.

maddyone Sun 16-Oct-22 10:50:45

By the way volver I do nor see you as a bad person. I see you as someone who has strong opinions clearly articulated, but never resorting to vile language.

Kate1949 Sun 16-Oct-22 10:51:01

She changed her mind because she thought it would reflect badly on her. So it was OK for her to say she got it wrong but not for people on here to say they got it wrong?

Mollygo Sun 16-Oct-22 10:55:43

Thanks Volver. I didn’t know any of this.

What she actually said:
I wanted him to die. Then I thought that will reflect badly on me and I don’t want to be the sort of person that wants people to die.
So changing your mind because something reflects badly on you is an excuse for wishing someone dead in the first place?

volver Sun 16-Oct-22 11:16:56

I don’t want to be the sort of person that wants people to die.

Missed that bit, Mollygo.

Heaven forfend that somebody you've decided was vile might actually have an inner dialogue and be able to examine their own motives.

volver Sun 16-Oct-22 11:31:24

I wish Putin was dead.

Oh, not you and not him, obviously (I paraphrase)

Who gets to decide maddyone?

Mollygo Sun 16-Oct-22 11:33:10

I didn’t miss it at all.

I haven’t posted anywhere that I think she is vile so when you’re posting that, perhaps you need to examine your own motives.

I don’t want to be the sort of person that wants people to die.
Then why say it in the first place?

So wishing for - say Hitler, or vile murderers such as Brady and Hindley, to be dead - would also make someone a bad person? I would wish for animal abusers to be dead - in fact, I'd happily inflict on them what they did to the animals, and I make no apologies for that. I still think I'm a fairly decent human being overall though...

MissAdventure Sun 16-Oct-22 11:34:13

There were plenty of people on here wishing Putin dead; in fact, I made a thread about it, asking how people who were so against the death sentence could quite happily, and under what circumstances do a complete about turn.

Chestnut Sun 16-Oct-22 11:39:21

Kate1949

She changed her mind because she thought it would reflect badly on her. So it was OK for her to say she got it wrong but not for people on here to say they got it wrong?

You could believe her angelic side appeared and made her understand the error of her ways. But I agree with Kate1949, she realised she can't go round in public wishing death on people and backtracked to save herself.

maddyone Sun 16-Oct-22 11:41:00

I’m totally against the death penalty, anywhere and to anyone. So that clears that up. I don’t agree with wishing death on anyone, whoever they are. And I absolutely abhor the very idea of the death sentence, whoever they are! I hope I’ve made myself absolutely clear on that.

She didn't say it. She thought it. Then thought better of herself and realised that was the wrong way to think. Then talked about the whole process.

People on here could learn something about self awareness from her. But they won't.
