Which series do you binge watch for comfort ?

Just realised that this week I have watched all the episodes of Dinnerladies again. Somehow I find it comforting and love watching Victoria Wood as Brenda with Julie Walters as her mum. It's not challenging and has a feel good message.
Wondered whether anyone else has a go to tv or film series when you feel a bit low ?

The Crown, Gavin and Stacey, Motherland. Watch them over and over.

I’ve been bingeing on Borgen on Netflix but I have finished it now so I am looking for another one. I will watch this thread with interest except probably we can’t get many of the UK things here.

Oh one of the upsides of DH passing is that I now have control of the remote! Bingewatched Downtown Abbey which was a first and have now discovered UK Play so rewatching Monarch of the Glen, catching up with Grantchester.

Detectorists, Gone Fishing and Shaun the Sheep. (I also have a weird sense of humour).

Schitt’s Creek - so warm and funny. Also Classic Coronation Street. An episode in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep calms me down a treat.

1st series of Outlander, filmed in Scotland, I'm less keen on it when they moved to France & America though they are still good, that 1st series is inspired though

Heartbeat on ITV3. I've got it on series link and absolutely love it. Real comfort TV

I love Ghosts which I liken to a children's programme with adult humour. The absurdity of the stories just remove me from everyday life and make me chuckle.

The Crown
Vicar of Dibley
Gavin and Stacey
Motherland
Lots of times 🤣

I don't watch anything twice......at the moment I'm watching 'Women Who Kill' and 'A Handmaid's Tale' Not exactly comforting viewing but it takes me out of my world for an hour at a time :-)

It took me quite a while to get into watching tv after DH died as he was generally the one with his finger on the remote for his endless footie.

Now that the dark winter nights are here I’ll watch the latest Virgin River, and maybe rewatch The Killing. I’ve just started (re) watching Cracker on the ITV hub.

CrazyMazy Sun 30-Oct-22 12:24:53

A Place to Call Home - a winner for DH and me. I could watch it over and over again!
Doc Martin also a winner. Looking forward to binge watching and catching up on episodes I have previously missed and the Christmas Special!
Interesting thread-lots of good ideas for binge watching as we hunker down for winter!

Another vote for Dinner Ladies and Gavin & Stacey - anything that makes me laugh basically.

Modompodom Sun 30-Oct-22 12:32:21

I love A Place to Call Home.
Also a Spanish series called Gran Hotel. I could watch it over and over again. I have the dvd box sets of both.
I have just finished watching The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem on Netflix. I really enjoyed it.

Daisydaisydaisy Sun 30-Oct-22 12:35:04

I absolutely love The walking Dead🙂

Call the midwife.
I know it can be a bit depressing at times but reminds me of growing up in the 60s when life was harder, but seemed so much simpler then.

adrisco Sun 30-Oct-22 12:39:56

800 Words
Doc Martin
Call the Midwife
Motherland

I frequently play the Mama Mia 1 film when I am low. It always lifts me.

I'm not a massive TV watcher however I do have all the NCIS box series and have binged watched that in the past.

The years of Tony and Ziva are my favourite. Ofcourse, series 17 too, when Ziva returns from the dead to play out the storyline left up in the air from season 13 when Tony leaves as did Ziva in series 11.
