Which series do you binge watch for comfort ?

Just realised that this week I have watched all the episodes of Dinnerladies again. Somehow I find it comforting and love watching Victoria Wood as Brenda with Julie Walters as her mum. It's not challenging and has a feel good message.
Wondered whether anyone else has a go to tv or film series when you feel a bit low ?

Oh I forgot I love the new updated series of All Creatires Great and Small. It was a favourite of my late mom's too when it was originally shown

Mostly Korean dramas on Netflix. Crash Landing on You is a delicious romance with beautiful people and an interesting insight to a different, rapidly evolving culture.

I don't, I hate the TV, and rarely watch, although my DH turns it on at 8.15 and off whenever he goes to bed. If I'm down I find a good book and hide in a corner.

Dads Army I always watched with my late fil,
Only Fools and horses,
Open all hours,
Any Blackadder'
Acorn antiques,
Poldark,'
The jewel in the Crown,
The last two I have also read the books at least twice.
Friends I watched when dd's were at home and it still makes me laugh.

Love the Sopranos and most Scandi noir series. Also Spiral and the Medici.

Oh yes The West Wing every time. It helps me forget trump was ever elected.

Well, exactly!

Gavin and Stacey for me, Dot singing the Smiths is a classic moment, but I just love it all, it’s so sharply observed.

Another Stargate SG1 fan here. Just rewatched whole series and really enjoyed it 3rd time round! Also recently rewatched The West Wing. Another well made, well scripted series that developed characters throughout.

After all the recommendations I must try Virgin River.
The only thing I’ve binge watched recently couldn’t be called comfort viewing but it is riveting and I would say definitely give it a go, it’s an eye opener into life in Russia both during the soviet era and afterwards, it’s called 1985-1999 Traumazone and is available on BBC IPlayer.

I love last tango in Halifax. Must have watched it 3or 4 times. The acting is s good , one of my all time favourites.

I like Grantchester too, but only with James Norton. I'll watch almost anything that isn't scary or spooky. Love Lewis, Morse and Endeavor, in fact any detective series though I've seen just about everything. Pretty indiscriminate in my viewing habits, but mainly British series rather than US though I loved Instinct and The Mentallist. I'm not keen on Paltrow or self-satisfied women in general!

And of course The West Wing. Have watched it all through several times.

Just remembered one of my all time favourites was Mr Selfridge which was just wonderful! I love anything with a fabulous plot, engaging characters, beautiful costumes and scenery. Google says it's free on ITV Hub so that's now on my list but only for one episode a night. That is my definition of binge watching.

Sundays = Call the midwife for me, especially as the nights draw in ❤️

Wetnosewheatie Sun 30-Oct-22 14:12:01

Gavin and Stacey for me too. Can watch it over and over

Nanny12 Sun 30-Oct-22 14:16:09

I too love big bang theory, and that last episode gets to me every single time

Saggi Sun 30-Oct-22 14:16:19

Call the Midwife for me….takes me straight back to the 50’s/60’s……. which weren’t ‘better’ times but were ‘gentler ‘times.
And Doc Martin got the laugh the pompous man gives me!

Saggi Sun 30-Oct-22 14:17:05

….,oh …and Lewis! Love Lawrence Fox

Granless Sun 30-Oct-22 14:17:48

I’ve recently watched a few Talking Pictures films in Black and White. Pure nostalgia especially Hilda Baker … she still makes me laugh.
