Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

It wasn’t their aunt who looked after the quads, it was the dreadful Freda, who didn’t want the deaf quad to have a cochlear implant.

I hope she keeps child minding in the background, never to be seen in the street again. She was awful.

Despite the cost of living crisis, they all seem to migrate to the Rovers at lunchtime and evenings.

Hope cannily pointed out their cooker doesn’t get a lot of use, it’s mainly the chippy, a takeaway, kebabs….

And where Ty got the money from to buy up the entire stock of the John Stape book is another mystery…

Money grows on that tree outside Audrey’s hairdressers Calendargirl. 🤣

Doodledog Thu 17-Nov-22 12:53:25

Audrey's has to be the UK's most lucrative backstreet hairdresser with an 80 year old chief stylist grin.

How is Spider getting away with hiding in plain sight? He is at the racist meetings with Max, but pretending to be on the side of the Maria/Toyah/Roy/Brian lobby, and must, presumably, have to touch base with his work from time to time? I like Spider, and would like to see him stay as a character, but this storyline is silly. It would have been better to have Max drawn into the racist group without the complication of the undercover Spider. I liked the way they showed how online content can be manipulated, and how easy it is for basically decent young people to get embroiled in things that could easily mess up their lives if they go the wrong way.

vegansrock Thu 17-Nov-22 13:10:51

Craigie was busy arresting the racist guy ( can’t rember name) then the next minute, arresting Fern. He would have had to spend hours doing paperwork.

Doodledog Thu 17-Nov-22 15:47:19

Griff?

Yes, Supercraig must flop into bed exhausted at the end of every shift.

Calendargirl Fri 18-Nov-22 07:15:38

I wish the scriptwriters would ‘finish off’ better.

So many of the scenarios start, then seem to drift into obscurity for weeks.

e.g.

The Stephen/Leo body, must be weeks since he was murdered, but no further forward.

Abi and baby Alfie. He will have outgrown his pram long before we get a glimpse of him again.

The dreadful play with Mary, Ken, Wendy and all. Did it ever see the light of day?

Sally and Tim’s excruciating bedroom dramas. I know he finally ‘did the deed’ but we hear nothing of them now.

Just so many ‘very poor’ storylines that never seem to come to a proper fruition. It’s as if the writers are sat round a table, throwing out ideas en masse, some get taken up, but then they have no idea how to finish them, and they just ‘drift’.

No wonder viewers are switching off.

lemsip Fri 18-Nov-22 07:30:24

the bernie and her doppelganger storyline ended in a damp squib, what a let down.

Doodledog Fri 18-Nov-22 08:33:19

You're right about the play - I'd forgotten about that.

They seem stuck in the Covid way of filming, with just a few characters on set at a time. The beauty of soap is that there is a large cast whose stories intertwine, and that is getting lost just now.

Calendargirl Fri 18-Nov-22 09:02:15

Oh, and I forgot the drama of Audrey re-opening her hair salon in her early 80’s.

Touch of the ‘Miss Haversham’ about it all.

Have you ever seen a customer in there? Just Audrey, alone, gazing at a framed photo of ‘Alfay’.,

Does she just go in there and polish the wash basins and taps to pass the time?

Aveline Fri 18-Nov-22 09:44:35

Who on earth would trust their hair to Audrey? Her and her daughter have had the same hairstyles for fifty years and they both look like wigs!

Calendargirl Fri 18-Nov-22 12:58:00

Aveline

Don’t know how to break it to you, but I think they are wigs.

As is Rita’s cloud of titian hair.

(At least, I think they are).

CoolCoco Fri 18-Nov-22 15:48:57

I was quite shocked to learn that the actors playing mother and daughter Audrey and Gail have only a 7 year age gap in RL, Sue (Audrey) is 78, Helen ( Gail) is 71.

Aveline Fri 18-Nov-22 18:24:08

Calendargirl- if Gail and Audrey are wearing wigs why in earth wouldn't they get better ones? They still are no advert for Audrey's hairdresser.

Doodledog Fri 18-Nov-22 18:28:05

If ever there is a customer in either Audrey's or Trim Up North, the stylist is always fiddling with their hair in a way I've never known a hairdresser to do. No scissors or dryers anywhere near them.

Ilovecheese Fri 18-Nov-22 18:45:22

I rather like the way that stories are long and drawn out, left hanging and then come back to weeks later.

But by then we have forgotten what it was all about!

Mind you, that is probably part of the scriptwriters cunning plan.

All I have ever seen Maria do is combing a finished hairstyle

Doodledog Fri 18-Nov-22 21:34:01

Yes grin.

Or running her fingers through quizzically, as though contemplating which style will suit her best.

Is this the end for Spider and Toyah, or will he confess to being an undercover cop?

Shinamae Fri 18-Nov-22 21:53:59

Having watched Corrie for more years than I care to remember I finally gave up watching it about three months ago… Bring back Ena and Elsie!!

vegansrock Sat 19-Nov-22 08:53:29

At least Spyder has got Griff’s confidence again. I think Max will move in with girlfriend and then we won’t hear of them for the next 6 months. I’m not sure why Bernie has moved out from Dev’s, she can’t have her own bedroom at Gemma’s. As for Stu and Yasmeen …yawn…..

BlueBelle Sat 19-Nov-22 09:03:57

Poor Stu Yasmeen isn’t exactly sexy is she ?
I do think Max is an excellent actor that sarcastic smile but what oh what has happened to David’s bouffant hairdo ? He seems to get smaller and skinnier each time I see him

Grannynannywanny Sat 19-Nov-22 09:28:27

I saw a few highlights of last night’s Children in Need programme on the news. They had the tardis on stage to do the big reveal of the Doctor’s new companion. It’s none other than Corrie’s Kellie Neelan. I wonder if Aadi knows she dumped him for Dr Who 😮

Doodledog Sat 19-Nov-22 10:09:49

If Max moves in with the racists, I hope he's not a fully-fledged nazi when we see him again.

I agree about Bernie. The living situation at Chesney's place must be untenable. Who lived there before? Was it the Battersby house? They only had 2 bedrooms, if memory serves - I remember Leanne and Toyah arguing when one of them wanted to move back in as the other had had the room to herself.

David's hair is like living art, isn't it grin. Is he trying to hide a bald patch or something? Mr D, who loathes Corrie (but secretly watches bits of it) commented about it last night, too.

And yes, Yasmeen is a dreadful actor. She and Stu are an ill-matched couple in so many ways, and it's difficult to watch them together.

If they have access to a tardis, maybe we could get some of the old characters back - or at least some of the scriptwriters from before?

Calendargirl Sat 19-Nov-22 10:12:52

Dev and Bernie are the most unlikely pair.

He wouldn’t fancy her in a month of Sundays, well, maybe a quick dalliance between the sheets, but don’t think he would ever take her to one of his golfing or Weatherfield business dinners.

Far too c….n for our aspiring social climber Dev.

Also Dev fancies himself with attractive ladies, think Fern would have been more his choice actually.
