Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

I watched last night, but these days it is so dire that I don't pay attention. I have realised since reading comments on here that I don't know what happened grin. I saw Stephen have an interview on Zoom, but didn't know it was for a job as a delivery driver. I saw Thingy's drunken dad collapsing, and Ken propositioning someone (I can't even remember which of his lady friends it was). I need to pay attention or give it up, I think. Maybe the fact that the episodes are hour-long has made a difference.

Yes, I thought Summer was supposed to be extremely clever. She obviously missed out when they were giving out common sense.

Would Harvey have access to his bank account whilst in prison?

He said he had ‘transferred the money’.

Well, I suppose anything is possible in Corrie world.

Doodledog Tue 29-Nov-22 19:19:15

He will have criminal contacts, of the sort to haunt Nick, Leanne and poor little Sam forever more.

on again at 8 till 9pm

Am so relieved that Audrey has finally had some customers in the salon.

Sally, Mary, Shona, even Carla all queueing up to have their hair done by our Aud, at 80+.

Did Sally need all those big rollers in though, her hair looked quite short and ordinary afterwards?

What was Steve’s wheelchair confession. Last night was so riveting I fell asleep 🤣

Calendargirl Wed 30-Nov-22 07:20:22

He didn’t confess Beechnut, Tim grassed him up for pinching his old jacket.

He broke his leg at a ‘foam’ party, also attended by his brother and several of the latter’s female staff.

Tracy was not impressed.

(I think in real life, he has broken his leg).

vegansrock Wed 30-Nov-22 07:29:47

If the dentist was so devastated by breaking up with Sean why didn’t he answer his calls?
Who cares about Tim’s jacket? Not a riveting storyline. They already did a clothes swap mix up story. yawn. Why on earth would Summer want to use falsely obtained money to help Aaron's Dad, since rehab obviously didn’t work. Does she think she can pretend she’s not pregnant and then pregnant at the same time? What’s that all about?

Calendargirl Wed 30-Nov-22 10:44:54

I honestly wonder what the cast think about delivering such rubbish lines?

As for Summer and her dopey boyfriend, words fail me. Chucking another £10k of borrowed money to help the hopeless father. How will they ever pay it back?

“Maybe we can get a loan?”

And maybe not.

hmm

Beechnut Wed 30-Nov-22 11:11:16

Thanks Calendargirl.

Doodledog Wed 30-Nov-22 11:39:14

Yes, I often think it's hard lines when an actor is sacked because 'the character has run its course' when all of that is down to the scriptwriters. It can't be easy having to do your best with rubbish storylines, knowing that they could be used against you.

Grannynannywanny Wed 30-Nov-22 21:46:58

Well it looks like creepy Stephen has his sights set on Elaine to ease his financial woes. I jokingly suggested that as a storyline months ago when their paths briefly crossed in the street. I wonder if the scriptwriters are browsing Gransnet for ideas 😂

vegansrock Thu 01-Dec-22 07:50:44

There’s obviously going to be a love triangle between Sean, Todd and the dentist. Would that far right group really have just stood around with placards?

Allsorts Thu 01-Dec-22 08:06:15

Can’t believe what a drip Summer is, I feel sorry for her boyfriend even if he’s an alcoholic father, he’s as bad though going along with it. Shame these two good actors have been given these story lines. Stephen is fast becoming totally unhinged, how could a successful businessman end up in his position by his assertive wife, for goodness sake he’s a murderer let him be caught and put us out if our misery, the little mob of fascists chanting could be chased off by someone shouting Boo loudly. Can’t we have a bit more humour and good story lines back in the show please.

Clawdy Fri 02-Dec-22 08:19:53

Yes, the Summer storyline has become more and more ridiculous. First of all she's still pregnant but pretending to Billy that she's had a termination. Then she's not pregnant, but pretending to the couple that she is!

Doodledog Fri 02-Dec-22 08:49:43

Summer's story is getting more bonkers by the episode. She has to be the most protected young woman in the North West, yet she stumbles into idiotic states of affairs without a backward glance. The admissions team at Oxford must be breathing a sigh of relief.

And what's going on at the factory? Is Amy's boyfriend doing Summer's job for her? How that place makes enough profit to support half the neighbourhood is beyond me. It has to be the only factory left in the UK making knickers, yet the management team doesn't seem to have a trained or qualified person in it. They have all either inherited their roles or drifted into them by dint of personal relationships of one sort or another. Even the machinists aren't trained - they move into jobs when the usually hard-nosed Carla has a soft spot for them, even though they don't know a sewing machine from a hole in the ground.

Beechnut Fri 02-Dec-22 09:49:56

It’s a ridiculous place to work Doodle. People just wandering in off the street to see their friend and relations, Carla throwing out warnings like there’s no tomorrow!

JaneJudge Fri 02-Dec-22 09:57:50

I've often wondered that about the knickers, surely lingerie is pretty difficult to sew?

JaneJudge Fri 02-Dec-22 09:58:32

I've also wondered what their target is for the day, how many knickers do they have to sew? Does anyone want to hazard a guess?

Calendargirl Fri 02-Dec-22 10:49:37

And surely Michael’s brainstorming idea for matching mum/dad/baby wear is nothing new?

Thought that had already hit the market long ago.

JaneJudge Fri 02-Dec-22 12:12:39

maybe he has never heard of Laura Ashley

humptydumpty Fri 02-Dec-22 16:33:46

There was someone on The Apprentice (last year?) who was proposing that. C must have copied the idea!

Calendargirl Fri 02-Dec-22 18:00:22

Just been reading about Corrie’s new ‘set’, which has been under construction the last few months,

Sally Dynevor (Webster, now Tim’s wife) cut the ribbon.

If only they had a new ‘set’ of scriptwriters to go with it!

Doodledog Fri 02-Dec-22 19:48:28

Are there going to be more places in the new set?

I think I preferred the closer-knit atmosphere when there were just a few houses (and even then only one room in each on the whole) the pub, the Kabin and the corner shop. Oh, and Audrey's, the factory and Roy's Rolls. Now we've got the kebab shop, Trim Up North, the solicitors, the Community Centre and probably places I've forgotten.
