So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...
We do of course have to remember that every little girl who watches a Disney film or two knows exactly what a curtsey is and how to do one!
Those Disney curtseys are literally what she did.

Well, if Sarah Ferguson taught Meghan how to curtsey just before meeting the Queen, having been known for her ‘mastery’ of the procedure, what was all the fuss about, the outstretched arms, the deep, deep drop?
It’s basically all about Meghan, and probably Harry now, having been influenced by her, thinking that it’s all a pointless, outdated procedure.
Maybe it is, but the fact remains that this is how it’s done in the family she chose to marry into.
Nobody forced her.
But she went in, all guns blazing, ‘hitting the ground running’, and then found that things were not going to be changed at the drop of a hat (or a curtsey) just because that’s how she envisaged her new royal future.
Oh, gawd, do you remember someone else who was ‘going to hit the ground running’?
Or, in her own words on Twitter , ‘hit the ground’
CG good post
I won’t watch it but have seen enough in the news and newspapers. I think that curtsey, actually taking the p##s out of the queen and royal family. Surely that’s the lowest she can go & I don’t mean that ridiculous curtsey, gotta be lowest of the low, very cruel…
My interpretation of the complaints against the Palace are that they are not so much an attack on the RF as against the systems that surround royalty: the Courtiers, The Admin staff. All could have been seen as a barrier to normal family interaction. They are there to protect Royalty and are just doing their job. M would not really understand this. She sneered in an interview about the British "stiff upper lip". The American way is to call out which is what this prog. is doing.
Boz, I agree with much of your post, but I don’t think that Meghan misunderstood Royal protocol, and what was ‘expected’ of her.
I think quite the opposite.
And yes, I think that she is a Machiavellian genius.
FC
Machiavellian yes, genius no. I see it all ending in tears and they’ll be Harry’s. I almost feel sorry for him.

The royal who taught Meghan to curtsey a few minutes before meeting ...
8 Mar 2021 — Meghan Markle has revealed that Sarah Ferguson taught her how to curtsey just minutes before meeting the Queen for the first time
The claims that Meghan needed to be taught how to curtsey by Sarah Ferguson and learn from her about royal protocol are very strange.
Meghan had intensive training from very experienced staff as soon as she and Harry got engaged. Harry chose at least one member of staff himself.
Meghan Markle quickly jumped into her royal career after her wedding to Prince Harry on May 19, 2018, but she couldn't have done it without a little help.
Enter Samantha Cohen, a member of Her Majesty's personal team and the woman who has been guiding Markle as she transitions into her new life as a duchess.
Samantha Cohen was joined by Meghan’s assistant press secretary Amy Pickerill, the Queen’s press secretary Edward Young, and her new assistant press secretary Matthew Magee
I'm not sure where the idea that Meghan was unprepared for life as a member of the royal team came from, but as far as I am aware, it is untrue.
Oh, tb I definitely do too. (Ie think that Harry will regret it)
I think that he’s a victim of coercive control.
I think that poor Harry has absolutely no insight into the human psyche.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the Scientologists had an eye on him.

I have no idea either. It probably has the same roots as the idea that she wanted things to change to suit her, rather than doing what was expected of her. I don’t know if that’s true either.
It makes no sense to me, how they wanted privacy but have done nothing but to court publicity for financial gain. This is one side of the story, the other side will never be heard so make of it what you might. I for one take their accusations with a pinch of salt, Megan thought she would be a Princess living in a palace, was extremely jealous of Kate and where she lived, and gave no respect to the Queen or other Royals (proven by the childish ‘curtsy ’ photo, I will not be watching it. Harry too has gone down in my estimation, he is a weak puppet with Megan pulling all his strings. Very sad.
It is bound to be a happy marriage because they both love her so much.
At the moment that is exactly what is happening.
Haven't watched it and don't intend to but have seen pictures online of the curtsy, I thought that she was quite disrespectful and childish TBH , I would imagine you might find it amusing as an American that even the Queens family curtsy to her, but the Royal family are not some Hollywood A listers.
Haven't watched it but here's my opinion of something I didn't see.

Meghan said it herself on the interview that she was unprepared. Harry also said it. You are correct that Samantha Cohen was assigned to her. She was the Queens treasured aide. She is one of ones who was bullied by Meghan. Valentine Low goes into this in his book Courtiers. Meghan hasn’t sued him for false claims.
Correct me if wrong but I didn't think you had to curtsey to Royalty anymore. Not obligatory; up to you.
I think she is just "British knocking." Apparently, she occasionally mocks H's upper class accent. I think accent mocking is cruel - people can't help how they were raised to speak. Would you mock the accent of someone you loved?

Well, that's a relief!
My knees might lock
Meghan's former staff have asked to be released from their non-disclosure agreements so that they can have the right to publicly defend their reputations against the lies being perpetrated about them.
Apparently Harry asked Meghan, ‘you know how to curtsy?’
And she thought it was
I honestly don’t know why a little bob down is so ridiculous when meeting such an amazing woman of stature as Queen Elizabeth.

I think it’s awful that they are gagged. Meghan is always preaching that women should have a voice - but not if you once had the misfortune of working for her.
Today’s Guardian and the i both had excellent and measured articles on the H&M Netflix thing. Yasmin Alibhai Brown in particular has written a very good piece. I love her description of Piers Morgan and Dan Wootton as shrill right-wingers who are acting like authoritarian imams.

62Granny was talking about the picture of the curtsey she had seen, not the programme.
