I started watching it and became nauseated. They both seem obsessed with themselves and their own importance. I was surprised to see old footage of the Queen including her coronation, woven into the story of how H&M met and fell in love. It was a hot mess. Then Diana appears and we see Harry as a baby and child. What is going on, and how did they get permission to use all the old footage of the Queen and Diana? What really comes across is that Meghan seems to think the world revolves around her and that we all need to know the details of how they met and fell in love! 🤦♀️
It really is awful but I imagine gullible young women in their teens and 20s will lap it up and that is probably the target audience.

WATCHING ...Harry & Meghan Netflix
(1001 Posts)GNHQ have commented on this thread. Read here.
So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...
I'm a Californian, also, and think Harry could have done a lot better. Meghan does not have the star quality Diana had. It's true that I don't know Meghan but since she seeks so much attention, I have a poor opinion of her from what I've seen. She appears to be a gold digger and was interested in Harry only because he's in the royal family. With all the terrible things going on in the world, I don't understand why anyone cares about this wealthy woman's complaints.
Tom Bower’s book ‘Revenge’ is on sale at Audible today. Only £1.99
I’ve just heard that the house that they are filmed in isn’t actually their house.
It seems more and more like an ‘augmented reality’ show, like Made in Chelsea, Real Wives etc
Gingersnapschap I'm afraid it's a fact that H&M are telling a whole load of porky pies. We are not just speculating that we think they are lies, they actually are proven lies. However, it seems that some people don't seem able to recognise or accept these as lies for various reasons.

Yes, the paparazzi have a lot to answer for but Diana died because she didn't put on a seatbelt and got in a car that was driven at reckless speed
Had the queen not taken Diana's HRH title would she not have had a safer journey ?
I'm not sure what you mean.
She was with a bodyguard, in an expensive chauffeur-driven car owned by one of the richest men in the world.
Diana failed to put on a seatbelt in a car travelling at speed.
Are you saying this expensive car didn't have working seatbelts?
If I might butt in here, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the airtime given over to Doria and her feelings on race and on her parenting of Meghan. I have a lot of time for this lady who is always calm, no pretences, no untruths and no embroidered versions of events I appreciated her lamenting that as a parent, in hindsight, she would like to go back and have that kind of real conversation about how the world sees you as a black person. In fact she was almost apologetic that she hadn't done this at the time with her daughter.

H&M haven’t suffered anywhere near the paparazzi following that Diana did.
How much should they suffer before they complain?

Californian here. Despite the few right-winged, Murdock-driven rags who will plant their occasional negative stories, the couple are generally pretty well liked. I had the pleasure of being at a charity event they attended two years ago, and they seemed really kind and very genuinely friendly. They chatted casually to anyone who spoke with them. Maybe it’s cultural but I find it odd that people get so upset at seeing a couple physically affectionate. I’d hate to be in a marriage where coldness and worrying about how others would perceive my love for my spouse dictated how I interacted. I’m sure many in the public in the U. K feel justified in their rabid hatred of the couple, but I live in a nation founded on it’s aversion to the very idea of a monarchy, so I cannot wrap my head around all the hysterics. “She’s trying to destroy our heritage” and other dramatics just comes off really bizarre to me. In the end, no amount of TV and internet means we know these people. Unless someone hurt a family member of yours, giving this much energy to people who don’t know you exist seems unhinged, liked Piers. Piers Morgan is an absolute headcase and I’m glad the American public largely ignores him. In the end, the couple seem to be thriving and that alone is victory enough for them. I wish them the best!
Great post
Aw now Grany... Charles is from a 'prestigious family- he's exempt

You see lankydolly even you, whilst condemning other people’s “ugly thinking” couldn’t help having a couple of little digs at “Kate”.
So you’re no different from other people who have a dig at Meghan, are you?
Where did Lankydolly make ' a couple of little digs at Kate?

I've said this before.
The pair of them could find the cure for cancer and somebody would point out that they'd done nothing for heart disease.

Royals are dishonest about their funding, their environmentalism, what property they own, their meddling in politics, their own values and history of racism, their historic connection to slavery and empire and their function in the constitution. The monarchy is built in deceit.
Good post Grany

As an American, reading this discussion I can see similarities with the binary split in our own political system. People seem to have made up their minds early and dug in. A lot of them sound angry. (Although certain political figures have given us a lot more to be angry about than H&M ever gave the Brits!)
I've watched the first three episodes, and am reserving judgement. So far, I like them. But I watched the Oprah interview when it was aired, and was much less charmed by them. So, I'll be interested to see in the next three episodes what happened to change them, especially her, to being so whiny and bitter.
So far, it seems to me that the real villains in this story are the paparazzi, the same bunch that killed Diana. Being endlessly stalked by that mob sounds like hell on earth.
I think you’ll find it was the drunken driver who did the killing.
True, the French paps were chasing them for a photo and behaved despicably after the accident, but a sober driver not racing through a tunnel at a crazy speed would have got them safely to their destination. If Diana and Al- Fayed had stayed at the hotel, so many ifs in the situation.
But Piers Morgan doesn't represent the views of most of us!
There are posts on here condemning him.
I disagree wholeheartedly about Megan being welcomed because that was not the perception on this side of the pond. The British press can be passive aggressive it certainly showed
The press are not the British people, Gingersnapschap
Watch the wedding again, the crowds lining the route, the way Meghan was welcomed here.
The press have such a lot to answer for, but it's not just Meghan who has had to run the gauntlet.

You may lie all the time - others don't, and neither do I.
You sound a very angry person on this thread and the other H&M thread, so I'm off.

Gingersnapschap If they were commenting negatively on the American people in general, laughing at perhaps traditions that you hold dear, criticising someone Americans admire (perhaps John F Kennedy or ....?) then maybe you would understand how it feels to be on the receiving end..... And then if many of the things they said were out and out lies which people in other countries believed but which could be proven to be wrong, such as much of the stuff mentioned on Oprah (one example is that they were so-called "married" by the Archbishop of Canterbury 3 days before their £33million wedding... which we, the taxpayers, paid for, and the Archbishop had to state that this was not true, and would be illegal in the UK to marry without witnesses). I'm sure you would find this frustrating.
They are entitled to do their own thing, entitled to complain, but not (in my opinion) entitled to lie and to trash Harry's family to the whole world. If they have complaints, sort them out in private.
People lie all the time. The RF has some liars amongst them just like the rest of the human population on Earth. I highly doubt Harry and Megan are the only ones lying in this situation.
Now as far as laughing at traditions, I can’t think of a single scenario that would turn me into a racist or a xenophobe as it has so many. Not saying that all who criticize them are those things, but it’s telling that so many of those borderline comments were allowed to slide. If there are values or traditions that some feel justify this behavior, we will just have to agree to disagree that said traditions are worthy of that type of value. I’m sorry but that’s nonesense.

Half as far. My fingers are fat today lol

^And the race-tinged vitriol, even on this site, makes me far less inclined to make Megan and Harry villains.^
Yes, it makes me ashamed to be British when I read this thread, Gingersnapschap. Personally, I'd like to think the RF would cringe at some of the stuff on here!
Same. I am sure there are members of the RF that wouldn’t take it half as dar as some of those outraged on their behalf. Like I said, much of this is completely unhinged. Have an opinion good or bad, but they extent to which people carry it is disturbing.

Gingersnap we have pride in our country and it's history as I'm sure you do, so the way these two are trashing and disrespecting the late Queen and her family is upsetting. As you know, she served her country faultlessly for 70 years and this show of betrayal towards the family is too much for many people. Especially as it's based on unproven accusations and proven lies. We understand that you don't understand, but that's how many people feel.
What you call “trashing” is someone else speaking on their own feelings and experiences. I accept the reality and cold hard fact that I wasn’t there just like those commenting here. The RF and those who work for it don’t just get believed because they work for or are part of the RF. Pride has nothing to do with it. I’ve lived long enough to blindly believe anyone. Frankly, there has been more than enough confirmation for me that the RF is far from an innocent bunch.
