Just back from the cinema after watching Otto. No I haven't read the book but I highly recommend the film. Great performance by Mr Hanks, wonderful story and if you go take plenty of hankies.
Road to Perdition was amazing. I was looking at my dvd of Cloud Atlas today, though, wondering if I should watch it yet again in an attempt to understand what it’s all about . Or should I give up…
I’ve just googled the book which does sound good. I just can’t seem to read these days or I’d buy it. I wonder if I should try the audio book ( when I get round to subscribing to Audible, that is).
I thought it was a lovely film. Not brilliant, but enjoyable and different. Tom Hanks can do no wrong for me. This may not be his best film but he was great in it.
I read the original book ‘ A Man Called Ove’ and persuaded my DH to come to our local vintage cinema to see it. He doesn’t like films much but will go there as you can sit at a table, in a comfortable chair, with a glass of wine. I glanced across at him and, to my amazement, he was crying! Lovely film
A truly wonderful film. Very emotional but also has a deeper message and I find myself still thinking about it several days later.. always a sign of a good film. I knew nothing of the story and it came up randomly on the TV. I watched because I love Tom Hanks.. now an older man.
I really enjoyed the film and think it should be considered as a standalone as it isn’t really true to the good book version! Just a feel good film with no Oscars to be won
When I fisr saw the thread I thought, this was on TV last night, then I saw it was an old thread.
I watched it for about 30 minutes- 'till the scene at the railway station which I thought was ridiculous.
I do like Tom Hanks but this film just seemed to have one storyline- and it was a very depressing one. I didn't find it at all funny either- it just seemed to be trying too hard to say the same thing over and over...
What a surprise to have a decent film on terrestrial television on a Saturday night as well. The adverts of course were an irritation but we enjoyed it,Tom Hanks is just so watchable. I’ve never disliked a single one of his films.
