Must admit anything that is hyped up by the media, telling us we should All should be watching and enjoying and having a party🙄 gives it a Big thumbs down from me👎👎 haven't watched it in years, but unfortunately you can't get away from the hype .

Callistemon21 Fri 12-May-23 19:48:33

Oh, and it's never been the same since Terry Wogan left sodapop

Callistemon21 Fri 12-May-23 19:58:59

Turned over to Gardeners' World.
It's more our thing 😁

AGAA4 Fri 12-May-23 19:59:05

Terry Wogan had an irreverent sense of humour and I stopped watching when he left.

Louella12 Fri 12-May-23 20:00:50

I agree about Terry. But Graham does a good job.

Eurovision was laughed at by most for many years but it is now becoming extremely popular. Young people are very excited. My 22 year old is in Liverpool now and having the time of her life.

It used to be a bit naff but certainly isn't now!

Callistemon21 Fri 12-May-23 20:02:30

Yes, I like Graham but we usually only watch the final bit (if any!).

NotAGran55 Fri 12-May-23 21:01:08

Absolutely nay. Not my idea of music.

henetha Fri 12-May-23 21:06:19

Yay. It's such a happy event and brings people together through music 🎶
Liverpool have done a great job in helping Ukraine.
Even the bad songs make me laugh .

Radio 2 wasn't the same without Terry either Callistemon21 but hey ho things move on.

Shinamae Fri 12-May-23 21:22:42

It’s a no from me…

Callistemon21 Fri 12-May-23 22:47:46

Why is it the main news on BBC?
It took up most of the first part of the news and then they returned to it later on for most of the latter part.

It's a song contest, not news. Perhaps it could merit a 30 second mention at the end of the news.
Has the BBC News forgotten what their purpose is?

Love it. Have had a few bets on songs that might make the first 4. There are usually a couple of songs that I really like but haven’t heard one that I really like this year so it’s a bit disappointing. Love the fact that New Zealand are campaigning to take part given that Australia are now allowed to compete.

MrsKen33 Sat 13-May-23 05:42:42

Nay stopped watching it years ago, when Katie Boyle hosted .

lixy Sat 13-May-23 11:55:20

It's very different on the radio - we listened rather than watched for a few years and scored the songs, not the performances. Good way to pass a long journey on the M4.

I am looking forward to tonight's TV coverage - great to have some escapist joy amid all the dreadful goings-on.

When we were children my sister & I used to love watching Eurovision, we made quite a thing of it and it was one of the rare occasions we were allowed to stay up late. Not anymore, I haven’t watched it for years and doubt I will this year.

Washerwoman Sat 13-May-23 19:53:53

I'm watching. Our DDs are huge Eurovision fans and have got together for it so that makes me happy knowing they are happy. But yes the comments from out entrant nearly made me switch off.At least last years Sam Ryder had a lovely positive attitude. Thought he was great.

Lomo123 Sat 13-May-23 20:15:22

Nay from me.

MayBee70 Sat 13-May-23 21:00:59

Am I the only one wondering how many of the women manage to go to the loo with all those super long nails that are all the fashion this year?

LRavenscroft Sun 14-May-23 05:14:23

Oh, dear, tonight I realised that I came from a different generation. But, I did like Spain's entry. Didn't bother to wait up for the results.

BlueBalou Sun 14-May-23 05:53:59

I haven’t watched it for years; it’s cringeworthy as far as the UK is involved ☹️

Nicenanny3 Sun 14-May-23 09:25:17

I must admit I never watched last night but although I'm very patriotic I'm so glad our entry came second to last, serves her right saying she hated Britain, well it seems Britain is not keen on her either and didn't vote for her in the public vote, karma 😊

volver3 Sun 14-May-23 09:36:57

Britain can't vote for the British act.

So there goes that nasty little theory.

Louella12 Sun 14-May-23 09:39:40

She was an odd choice to represent the uk. She's tweeted very negatively about the government. F*ck the Tories. Suggested Boris Johnson shouldn't have been in ICU. Applied for a German passport.

She can believe what she wants. But probably best not to represent a country she's not keen on.

And the song wasn't great at all

Israel was my favourite

Nicenanny3 Sun 14-May-23 09:44:24

Oh I didn't know you couldn't vote for your own country but still glad she came second from bottom😊

volver3 Sun 14-May-23 09:48:43

Happily, no-one needs to support the government if they don't want to and they can still "represent" the UK. She didn't suggest that Johnson shouldn't have been in ICU. A huge number of people have obtained EU passports since Brexit.

Whatever 30p Lee tries to make you believe.

Good grief, its a song content, not a demonstration of patriotic support for the Tories.

They said it last night about 150 times. Its always been that way.

I didn't think the song was strong enough to have come any higher.
