Roll up, roll up!

The old one is full, so post your Corrie thoughts and observations here.

I’ve rolled along with Corrie, despite its flaws, since it began and, despite its occasional silly, over extended storylines, I can’t imagine not watching it. It’s good to see the younger characters’ skills developing but I can’t agree that the young actor playing Max is not good! I feel he’s playing the character extremely well. The emotions, insecurities, vulnerabilities, and the realisation that he’s been used are all shown in his expressions without over doing it. I’m loving how David’s character is also developing a much more empathetic, understanding side as he deals with Max.

But Ilovecheese you can't think Roy is unpleasant!!!

Doodledog Tue 04-Jul-23 13:40:07

Roy is the very definition of decency, but he would get on my last nerve if I knew him well grin.

Stu has every right to sulk. If I had been locked up for 20 years or whatever for something I hadn't done, I wold be sulking too! I think he is remarkably well-adjusted considering.

I also think that the Max actor is one of the better ones. Yasmeen is dreadful, and I can't suspend disbelief when she is on screen. I've seen better acting in primary school performances.

Poor Billy. When he finds out that Paul has 'lost' the money, and worse if he finds out how it got 'lost', his powers of forgiveness are going to be stretched. Gemma will be hurt too, after all that fundraising, and Dev and Shona both suffered for the cause.

No, I certainly don't! But I don't think Yasmeen sees him as a love interest. Perhaps she should, but she seems to be a bad picker of boyfriends.

maddyone Tue 04-Jul-23 15:32:37

Thanks ladies, but who’s the ‘wet guy?’

Ilovecheese Tue 04-Jul-23 15:33:15

It wasn't Yasmeen who locked him up though, so he shouldn't take it out on her.

I agree that the actor who plays Max is very good.

Gemma, Shona, and the other participants and supporters will have every right to feel angry about Paul losing the money but I suppose one could say that it was his money to lose and he will suffer the most from the loss.

Aveline Tue 04-Jul-23 17:58:00

The wet guy is called Owen I think. He's Jenny's new boyfriend. The one Stephen tried to tell her was a real ladies man with lots of girlfriends.

vegansrock Tue 04-Jul-23 18:21:28

How many serial killers has the street had? I can think of 3 - Eileen was married or in a relationship with one, Gail was married to one and now Stephen, maybe there were more.Seem our credibility is stretched more and more !

maddyone Tue 04-Jul-23 18:21:54

Oh thanks Aveline.

Calendargirl Wed 05-Jul-23 07:13:05

I don’t think he was a serial killer, but Ivy Tilsley’s second husband, Don someone, went a bit strange and drove to his death in a car into the river or similar, didn’t he? Not sure if he had anyone in with him, it’s a long time ago.

Or I might be remembering it all wrong of course!

Calendargirl Wed 05-Jul-23 07:14:02

Who was playing the Tai Chi instructor?

He looked familiar somehow.

vegansrock Wed 05-Jul-23 07:41:20

I don’t know * calendargirl* but he looked a bit portly to be a fitness instructor.

Clawdy Wed 05-Jul-23 08:11:47

Tai Chi is a bit different from other fitness classes though, our local Tai Chi class has an instructor in her seventies who often uses a stick when walking!

Primrose53 Wed 05-Jul-23 09:33:42

I think there is a bit of attraction between Elaine and the Tai Chi instructor so I hope this develops and she ends up with him and not the evil Stephen.

Aveline Wed 05-Jul-23 10:35:49

I second that Primrose

Has anyone else noticed how often the word ‘brew’ is used in Corrie?

I have counted three times tonight before the first break.

“Do you want a brew?”

“I’m just going to make a brew”.

“I’m ready for a brew”.

(These are just typical examples, not what’s been said verbatim).

Do the scriptwriters think this is how everyone ‘up North’ speaks all the time?

lemsip Fri 07-Jul-23 20:21:58

ryans scar is looking much bigger and widespread tonight..

Calendargirl Fri 07-Jul-23 20:28:25

Yes, his scar looks very red tonight.

Quite different.

Calendargirl Fri 07-Jul-23 20:43:23

Can we all enrol for the Corrie surgery?

Yet again, saintly Doctor Gaddas fits in Stephen at a moments notice for a chat about his fiancée, encouraging him to come back if necessary, and to encourage her to make an appointment.

Never too busy to tend to her patients.

Doodledog Fri 07-Jul-23 20:53:21

Would it be acceptable to refer someone to a support group for partners of depressives when said partner has not been diagnosed as depressive? I wouldn't be keen on Mr D going to a Living With Horrible Wives group in a town where everyone knew he was married to me grin.

(not saying that being depressed is remotely the same as being a horrible wife, obviously! I'm talking about the principle)

Speaking of 'brew', I notice every time someone refers to 'round 'ere'. It seems to happen at least once an episode.

Primrose53 Fri 07-Jul-23 21:43:18

“Our Gemini’s” face was a completely different colour to her neck today.

Getting excited for Sarah’s DNA results next week. Please let it be Damon’s, we need him back!

BlueBelle Fri 07-Jul-23 22:06:31

Ryan’s scar has a life of its own It’s different every episode and what is the white bit in the middle

LovesBach Fri 07-Jul-23 22:32:22

A little late for this, but did anyone else find it odd that the £800 raised for Paul was all there, in an enevelope, at the end of the contest? Some people like to pay a sum 'up front', but others, most sponsors, surely would have waited to see how many chillies were eaten and then pay accordingly. It's another of the slightly irritating unlikely details that seem to be ignored quite regularly.

I don't know. It looks like a sticking plaster, but it can't be, can it? Has he had a skin graft over that bit?

Re the chilli money - I assumed they had charged entry on the door, rather than have the contestants sponsored per chilli. I don't know though. You're right that there would probably have been loose change as well as folding money. It's not my idea of a good night out, so I would probably have bought a ticket to support Paul, but stayed at home and watched Corrie wink.

Calendargirl Sat 08-Jul-23 07:12:10

I am more concerned about Ryan’s mother.

I mean, how long ago was the acid attack? It must be a couple of months or so, and Michelle was unable to visit him because she was having ‘an operation’.

Well, Ryan has recovered enough to be out and about and back to work, but Michelle is still recovering from surgery and unable to come and see him.

What on earth did she have done?

Particularly as pre the acid attack, no one spoke about how ill she was or their concerns for her health.
