Corrie did well in the awards. I thought Jane Macdonald did a great job compering the award ceremony, in fact much better than Philip Schofield.

I agree Primrose. Jane was great. She didn't try to make it about her as some do. She just got on with it.

I love Arabella Weir in Two Doors Down. I suspect maybe her character in Corrie has fallen on hard times and she doesn’t want to let on to Aggie. She didn’t sound very convincing when Aggie met her coming out of the charity shop and she told her she was donating an expensive silk suit. Is that the charity shop where Evelyn works? She’ll hopefully spill the beans!

Sally’s house is on the other side of the street from the terrace, alongside Yasmeen’s and Gail’s. They’re a lot more modern than the old terraces, and have gardens (or a big sinkhole in the case of one of them - has it been fixed yet?). But yes, there’s going to be a Brian Rix style farce, for sure!

Haaaaaaa Cousin Itt brilliant, i cant stand Gail Platt, Tilsley, McIntyre or whatever she was called? Does my head in when she appears on my screen.

I think Damien will turn to blackmail ( Sarah ) why and when I dunno but his character is built around 'danger'.

Speaking of the houses, why doesn't anyone seem to use their front room? Gemma in particular has a tiny house with five children and her mum living there, as well as herself and Chesney, but you only see the back room with the kitchen off it. Wouldn't they use every inch of their house with all those children in it? Did they get the Battersby's house? That seemed to open straight into the sitting room from the street and have no other reception room or hallway, but they are all the same from the outside, so I don't now how that's supposed to work.

Ken's has a proper hall, where the telephone used to be😀. Deidre was always standing with her back to the stairs arranging dalliances on the phone, but you never saw into the 'parlour' that must have been in front of her. Now that so many people are living there, surely they'd use it, even as a bedroom?

We see Ken's back room and kitchen, The same with Eileen's. Fiz and Tyrone seem to have had a refurb, and I'm not sure what we are seeing in there, and ditto the Websters'., although when 'the girls' lived there they were often supposed to be playing in 'the other room'. Do we ever see into Brian's place?

The sets had a makeover recently, so it would have been an opportunity to let us see into the whole of the houses, as we do with the 'new' ones, which are more open plan.

But I think he was being genuine! I honestly think he has fallen for Sarah in a big way, and I think the feeling is mutual.

That makes sense (and explains where people sleep in the elastic houses), but Gemma's sitting room still seems the same size as the others who have the extra room and the hallway.

Has anyone been on the Corrie tour?

When the programme started in the sixties (I watched as a child with my Mum) the houses were typical two up two down. They all now seem to have bathrooms - people announce at odd times, like five pm or eleven in the morning 'I'm going to run a bath' - so they must have one bedroom now, or one of the two bedrooms a very small size, the other half accomodating a bathroom. Quite how everyone squeezes in always amazes me; Eileen's house has elastic walls, and as for Gemma and Chesney, perhaps they are using the loft for the quads.

no, they've got those expanding walls, you just give them a push and great spacious rooms appear, like in the adverts! ha ha.

Often houses like that had rear extensions added, with a kitchen downstairs and a bathroom above it. Maybe the Corrie houses have had that done? Nobody uses outside loos now. Even so, with two rooms up and two down (without the kitchen and bathroom) they cram in an awful lot of people .

We went on the original Granada Studios tour as a family, back in the late 80s/early 90s. It was really good - I have some photos somewhere of us standing on the cobbles outside the Rover's and the corner shop. It incorporated other programmes as well - there was a mock up of Sherlock Holmes' Baker Street, and for some reason the Houses of Parliament, performances, demonstrations of make-up and special effects including very gruesome stuff, and definitely a section with giant-sized cotton reels, mouseholes etc from, I think, The Borrowers?

I really want to go on the new tour now!
