Enjoyed watching some of the performances.
Rick Astley was very good, looked like he was enjoying it. Blondie at 77, bless her….still has a nice little figure though !!
Elton John was fabulous, still belted out the songs. Was a good ending.
I’ve never been to Glastonbury for the concert, don’t think I’d manage staying in the crowds for soo long.

I enjoyed watching elton and his guests last night..

Oh couldn't stand being squashed in the crowds. don't like all that sitting on peoples shoulders, people behind can't see.

Grantanow Mon 26-Jun-23 08:21:10

All of today's Guardian 2 except the TV and radio listings were given over to Glastonbury. A waste of paper.

LRavenscroft Mon 26-Jun-23 08:26:52

Loved lying on my sofa, drink in hand, watching the sunset out my window, and Elton John on the TV.

FannyCornforth Mon 26-Jun-23 08:36:26

I’ve been several times. Absolutely loved it. (Late 80s, early 90s)

It would be my idea of hell now though!
I’d have to go in one of the glamping arrangements.

Rick Astley’s Smiths set was outstanding.
I’m a massive, massive The Smiths fan

foxie48 Mon 26-Jun-23 08:41:10

Has anyone found Lana Del Rey's set? I'd love to watch it but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere. I've got Elton recorded for a binge watch session as I couldn't watch it last night.

FannyCornforth Mon 26-Jun-23 08:46:23

foxie apparently she was 30 minutes late, had her hair and makeup done on stage and had to have her mic switched off.
She tried to carry on with her set in the crowd confused

Sparklefizz Mon 26-Jun-23 10:32:00

Anyone seen the photos of the appalling mess left behind at Glastonbury despite crowds being asked to take home their litter? Every year it's the same. What an appalling example of hypocrisy from people who "talk the talk" but don't "walk the walk".

FannyCornforth Mon 26-Jun-23 10:45:09

Sparklefizz I was just going to say ‘it happens every year’ 😆
I was thinking about that with all the huge flags that were being waved about.
We didn’t have any of that in ‘my day’!

PinkCosmos Mon 26-Jun-23 11:20:41

I was disappointed with the Arctic Monkeys and Guns n Roses. Not that I'm a massive fan anyway.

Elton John was fab. He exceeded my expectations. He did an open air concert near us a few years ago. The general consensus at the time was that he was just going through the motions and didn't really engage with the audience. Glad he upped his game for Glastonbury.

Blondie suffered from poor sound. I could hardly hear Debbie Harry. She is 78!

Yusaf / Cat Steven was really good. He is one of the few older ones who doesn't seem to have lost his voice.

Christine and the Queens is a favourite of mine. She was very intense.

I think most of the individual concerts are on BBC I Player.

I'm off to watch Rick Astley singing The Smiths

FannyCornforth Mon 26-Jun-23 12:47:35

foxie regarding Lana Del Ray, apparently she was hacked off because she thought that she should have performed after the Manics.
I don’t think that she behaved very well at all

People don't get asked to take home their litter ....just to take home their camping stuff

Cat Stevens Rick Astley and the wonderful Elton John all were excellent!

Washerwoman Mon 26-Jun-23 18:41:24

I really loved Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders. She's one rock chick who has still got it!

Smileless2012 Mon 26-Jun-23 19:22:38

Do they need to be asked?

paddyann54 Mon 26-Jun-23 19:24:38

I didn't think Elton was any good,in fact he was dire on some songs .Cat Stevens/Yusuf was far superior and in the same age range ...and he looked human too unlike Elton who was an unholy mess.
Rick Astleys set was excellent as were the Manics, James just gets better with age looks wise as well as his performance .
We liked a lot of the new bands ,made a list of some to buy

I am not wrong 🙄.... they provide bins...absolutely thousands of them....big metal drum bins, all beautifully hand painted by a team of artists ....and they provide both green and black bin bags ....all for the litter....' leave no trace' means take home your tent, sleeping bag, chair and any other camping or personal belongings ....ive been going for many many years and no one expects you to take litter home...thats what those beautiful bins are for

Smileless2012 Mon 26-Jun-23 19:52:28

So why don't they use them then?

LOUISA1523 Mon 26-Jun-23 19:54:46

How would I know 🤷‍♀️... you would have to ask a litterlout that.... me I put all my litter in the bin

So, LOUISA1523 you're saying that Emily (Eavis) didn't tweet the following then?

"She tweeted mid-afternoon yesterday (Sunday, June 26) asking people to "PLEASE take everything home". Festivals can often hit the headlines for the unbelievable amount of stuff including; tents, chairs, personal items and much more left on sites for the stewards to have to clean up.

Emily said: "Thank you making this such a special @Glastonbury. If you're starting to think about packing up, then PLEASE take everything home with you. Let's leave this beautiful valley in the state that it deserves. Enjoy the rest of the Festival! #LoveTheFarm #LeaveNoTrace."

What i am saying is....she didn't mention taking any litter home ...which was your implication .....just personal belongings... litter is fine to put in the Glastonbury bins .....I think you need a few days chilling at a festival....or are you just one of those people that likes to pick an argument? ...anyway, I'm done on this thread......my Glastonbury 2023 is done ....and I need some zzzz's before work tomorrow .....Best you find someone else to 'argue the toss' with 🙄

We went to an open air concert just a few years ago too PinkCosmos, part of his "final" Australian tour, and he was just as good as he was at Glastonbury, engaging with the audience, playing non-stop for two hours..

I don't understand why there were volunteers picking up litter at Glastonbury. They made enough money to pay professionals to do it. Surely the volunteers time would be better spent helping people less fortunate.
