Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

Farzanah Wed 31-Jul-24 20:38:20

I get bored with the TA but as is the nature of an addict usually return. If I hear any more about Alistair and Denise I’ll have to switch off for a few days, but don’t want to miss George coming clean. This will I suspect have a few more weeks to run with plenty of hints dropped to keep the interest going.
Such is the nature of soaps I guess. An interesting plot line which drags on for ages, and boring filler stories.

eGJ, I do remember the episode where Grace Archer (nee Fairbrother) was killed - the BBC needed some shock/horror to spoil the launch of ITV the same evening, 22nd September 1955. I was 3 weeks shy of my 10th birthday, and used to listen to The Archers with my mum, dad and grandmother.

I remember it as well, I felt so upset for Christine.

Although I can't remember the first few years of TA, it was part of the soundtrack of my childhood. I drift away for a few years (I am at the moment) but always return!

I’m with you Farzanah ……want to hear the Alice -George denouement, but thoroughly bored by Alistair and Denise and Paul.
Jill’s sudden reappearance was rather odd and I can’t remember that Leonard had gone away. Not concentrating obviously!
Roll on some proper events! ☹️

How strange!
Would have expected it to bore mumsnet too!

Yes. Heard it at 7pm yesterday.

So now two Grundys are about to pervert the course of justice?

eGJ Sat 03-Aug-24 17:00:25

Will the strain on the Grundy take its toll?

Farzanah Sat 03-Aug-24 17:14:31

Will the strain on the Grundy take its toll?

You bet.

NotSpaghetti Sat 03-Aug-24 17:42:46

Or will he keep it quiet till the trial?
Will he go to pieces giving evidence?

Or will The Archers allow Alice to be sent down?

eGJ

Will the strain on the Grundy take its toll?

Yes - sling snivelling George in prison forever! (He'll be safer in there once Brian finds out the truth.)

Farzanah Sat 03-Aug-24 18:01:01

I think George or his mother will come clean at the last minute and save Alice from prison.
You’re probably right mae13!

Elrel Sat 03-Aug-24 19:28:49

Interesting that George is so sure he couldn’t cope with prison. Hasn’t he noticed that gently reared Freddie managed to serve his sentence? Plus, of course, grandmother Susan, she recalls it with horror but she got through it, as of course did Helen.

midgey Sat 03-Aug-24 19:58:57

But Freddie was in a Young Offenders prison, George is an adult. He and Freddie had a conversation about prison fairly recently.

Elrel Sun 04-Aug-24 23:30:09

2023 report says there is more violence in Young Offenders establishments.

Wyllow3 Sun 04-Aug-24 23:58:12

I have been so 😡😡 about George and the SW's have gradually had him breaking down. I don't think that Emma will be able to keep it to herself, hide it from Ed and Susan and George isn't coping any better.
Best guess atm - Emma confide in Susan? Emma breaks down at "fun" party?

Elrel Wed 07-Aug-24 21:35:23

Wyllow3 No Emma couldn't keep it to herself. She’s about to tell Will it appears.

Wyllow3 Wed 07-Aug-24 21:41:31

I was so frustrated they cut it off before she told Will! Wanted to hear his reaction. But got it right about "fun party timing"

Scribbles Wed 07-Aug-24 23:08:31

Am I the only one who thought the scriptwriters got it right when Joy told Lynda where to get off? I've been waiting years for someone to do that!

Wyllow3 Wed 07-Aug-24 23:28:52

Oh yes, that was fab.

NotSpaghetti Thu 08-Aug-24 08:03:53

I think Joy and Linda may end up as a good team.

Wyllow3 Thu 08-Aug-24 09:58:04

Yes, I think she'll respect Joy for standing up to her. I hope the scheme for transport between the two events works out.

Farzanah Thu 08-Aug-24 10:53:59

I’m quite liking the Archers at the moment. It’s provides a nice interlude away from reality 😀

eGJ Thu 08-Aug-24 12:30:55

Fazanah grin

I do like how planning for fetes etc are done just a month before. The SW don't live in the real world!!

I thought tonight's epi was very well played by Kellie Bright and Anabelle Dowler and was a beautifully written allegorical eulogy to Ian Pepperell.
