Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

Elrel Thu 26-Jun-25 21:54:35

It crosses my mind that Amber is not really needed but a cat among the pigeons may be interesting. A match made online?

NotSpaghetti Fri 27-Jun-25 14:53:12

Lots of women write to prisoners.

I have worked both with women who have been doing this and with ex offenders who were called and written to whilst in prison.

eGJ Sat 28-Jun-25 15:18:07

They met at Borchester Green and Amber is back next week as is George, but not Ed, William or Emma. Those scriptwriters are playing with us !

Delila Fri 04-Jul-25 19:29:39

Goodness….. how George has changed during his incarceration! He’s completely transformed. Instead of the inarticulate lump he was before, he’s now a mature, confident young man on the brink of marriage. It’s ridiculous miraculous!

merlotgran Fri 04-Jul-25 19:47:38

It’ll all end in tears. 😂

eGJ Sat 05-Jul-25 15:06:03

Have you listened to The Archers podcast this week? Entertaining and pours a little water on Amber. You will be proved right, (as always) merlot - tears are going to be shed. A reformed Martin Gibson is a bit tacky. No Jazzer it’s not Lillian, though I don’t think he has a real chance with his chosen target!

merlotgran Thu 10-Jul-25 19:56:42

I think the scriptwriters have been watching Clarkson’s Farm.

eGJ Fri 11-Jul-25 13:41:29

You are always right on the button merlot. Wonder when Amber’s parents will show!

Kate54 Tue 15-Jul-25 19:33:51

Who on earth was that talking to George in prison tonight? He was ( sensibly) attempting to talk him out of rushing into marriage. A chaplain perhaps? Sounded more like a cell mate ( apologies for stereotyping prisoners!)

NotSpaghetti Wed 16-Jul-25 03:13:15

Think he introduced himself as the chaplain.

windmill1 Wed 16-Jul-25 04:41:47

Amber is a mere plot device: why else introduce such a cartoon character?

Kate54 Wed 16-Jul-25 08:06:49

Thought he must be! Thanks

Delila Tue 11-Nov-25 19:20:58

Has the actress playing Amber changed? Her voice sounds very different.

Ellie Anne Thu 13-Nov-25 08:13:45

Delila I thought that too. I think she is going off George!

Ellie Anne Thu 13-Nov-25 08:50:29

And pip sounds different too

Luckygirl3 Thu 13-Nov-25 08:55:23

I don't think she has gone off George - I think she is pregnant.

shysal Sat 06-Dec-25 11:53:21

I think she is going off George because she has fallen for Brad, who has also fallen for Amber.

pinkwallpaper Mon 29-Dec-25 08:45:44

Looking at the snippets that the BBC give you we are into an interesting new year plot with George. Is he a real bad’un?

Maggiemaybe Mon 29-Dec-25 09:07:45

Hearing Harrison’s voice on the omnibus yesterday was chilling for this Corrie fan - it’s now firmly established with me as the voice of the awful Theo.

I was half expecting George to be found attacked and unconscious at the end of the episode. He’s going downhill fast!

Einna Tue 30-Dec-25 11:59:51

Very intriguing tasters on the website this week……hints about crises and hospital vigils …….

Is George going to attack Brad and put him in hospital ?

The threads are more interesting at present, and the acting is so good…….poor Emma, poor Will…….

Galaxy Tue 30-Dec-25 12:05:48

Yes poor Emma, she is one if my favourite characters, although I know lots of people aren't keen on her.

Scribbles Tue 30-Dec-25 12:20:32

I was getting bored with the Archers and nearly stopped listening during the autumn. Glad now after last night's epi that I hung in there!
I'm wondering, too if one of the Brookfield Archer lads will end up with Esme.

Visgir1 Tue 30-Dec-25 13:49:11

I have listen to the Archers for about 40 years and only in the last few months stopped. I got fed up with the George / Amber saga and lost interest.
But think I will see if I can catch up with the storyline after reading this thread. Thanks

Scribbles Thu 01-Jan-26 23:00:46

Oooh. So whodunnit, then?

LadyGaGa Fri 02-Jan-26 16:53:20

Surely Fallon wouldn’t do such a dastardly deed! And the cut hand seemed a bit of an obvious clue. It would be very out of character for Brad too. My money is on Brian! He may be old but he’s fierce. Suspicious how Jazza didn’t seem to want to go down the lane where he was though. Oooo! Enjoying the intrigue!
