Only another month to go so I thought we'd better get the new thread up and running smile

I don't know many of this year's contestants so far but I guess we'll get to know them as the show continues. I see there are already comments that some of them have previous dance training.

Thanks for that.

Thanks for the reminder about time. I am delighted to see that AR will be in the Strictly tour even if she’s voted off. Age is no barrier.

Sparklefizz Sat 11-Nov-23 12:58:56

I disagree Mollygo. It seems wrong to me to announce that she will be on the tour when the programme is only halfway through and anyone may have gone home in the next couple of weeks. It makes the results look like a foregone conclusion. shock

Sparklefizz Sat 11-Nov-23 13:01:43

Plus she was wobbly and not that good last week, and later in the programme they will be required to learn and perform two dances in a week.

Mollygo Sat 11-Nov-23 13:07:23

Sparklefizz,
I think the fact that she will be voted off, probably tonight, is a foregone conclusion, in the same way that anyone in the dance off against Leyton, should he ever lose public support, would not be saved by the judges. The only thing I don’t see as a foregone conclusion is that a professional dancer like Leyton will win. (He’s on the tour as well.)
I just enjoy seeing someone older than me still able to dance like she does.

So fed up of seeing Layton , Instagram, Tik Tok, there he is

They sign up for the tour from the beginning of the series, it has nothing to do with being voted off.

Important ! Strictly is on at 6.05pm tonight !!

Thank you Sparklefizz!! I didn't know that confused

Joseann Sat 11-Nov-23 13:36:35

Thanks, I've got to go out at 7.30pm (to pick up DH from a day at the races), so I should get to see it all.

This online:

The first three celebrities who will be joining the Strictly Come Dancing Live UK tour in 2024 have been announced. Layton Williams, Ellie Leach and Angela Rippon will be putting on their dancing shoes once again in the new year to go on tour, putting on truly dazzling performances up and down the UK. 3 days ago

Joseann Sat 11-Nov-23 14:33:47

I know Layton seems to be everywhere at the moment, and gets up people's noses, but can I put in a good word for the workshops at various dance schools he runs, inspiring young hopefuls to follow their dreams. Layton has been selected to dance by Strictly and is coming up with the goods.

Joseann Sat 11-Nov-23 14:35:16

AR should be fine for the Live Tour as they will only bring her on for the slow dances, in short doses. Others will do the hard work.

Sparklefizz Sat 11-Nov-23 18:18:18

Love the sleeves on Claudia's blouse.

Not much hip action from Krishnan in his Samba.

Anyone spot a quick glimpse of Gio on the balcony?

Sara1954 Sat 11-Nov-23 18:23:58

Thought that was lovely, Bobby and Diane

Joseann Sat 11-Nov-23 18:26:43

Yes, Bobby should be through to Blackpool.

Sparklefizz Sat 11-Nov-23 18:26:44

I need to watch that again later.

Calendargirl Sat 11-Nov-23 18:28:29

I didn’t like Claudia’s sleeves, they would be in the way if she was washing up!

Loved Bobby’s dance, but knew Craig would not approve of the ‘spatula’ hands.

TillyTrotter Sat 11-Nov-23 18:30:07

Yes the dance was so lovely and well, fluid, but not the hands!
Sure Dianne can sort them out.

Sparklefizz Sat 11-Nov-23 18:32:57

Sorry to sound mean but I am so bored with seeing Angela R's usual high kick... unlike Craig who has just said he can't see enough of it! sad

Sara1954 Sat 11-Nov-23 18:34:47

Sparklefizz
Agree. I think we’ve seen her party piece enough now.

TillyTrotter Sat 11-Nov-23 18:37:07

I enjoyed Angela & Kai’s dance, but was distracted by Angela’s head that seems to have trouble holding itself up,
and is behind her body movements.

Hear, hear

I've loved seeing Layton. Surely there's room for a couple of decent dancers. Nigel is another with a wealth of dance experience

Would we all enjoy the show as much if all the contestants were of the standard of Les Dennis?

It's obvious that Ellie will win so not to worry about Layton

Calendargirl Sat 11-Nov-23 18:46:12

Also liked Nigel’s very much.

But it helps I love the accompanying music.

Grandmabatty Sat 11-Nov-23 18:48:00

I'm not an Angela Rippon fan but that was a reasonable Paso. Her head movement is way behind her body movement. I didn't really enjoy Bobby's American Smooth. I don't think he's improving as much as I hoped. He's very sweet though. Krishnan wasn't great and I just don't like couples choice. Sorry Nigel
