Alison Hammond shouty and disturbing

Could the programme and advertisement makers please ask this presenter to tone it down a peg? She's everywhere, shrieking and shouting and laughing uproariously at nothing! Im not being anti-Brummie - I'm from the West Midlands myself and hearing the accent makes me feel at home. I just cant bear it and have to hit the mute button whenever she's on, so whatever she is advocating or presenting goes unheard - by me at least!

I also liked her on Bake Off. She seemed encouraging, interested in the contestants and was on hand for congrats/ consolations.

Haven't seen her on anything else.

I find all the presenters who are loud and talk over the interviewees, really irritating.

I don't think she is a Loose Woman, I have never seen her on it. She co-presents the This Morning programme.

You're probably right. I tend to group all of those daytime programmes filled with nonsense into one thing and call it "Loose Women" smile

Not keen on her. Too shouty and doesn’t listen to people. Just carries on talking and laughing.

I don't mind Alison Hammond but my favourite presenter is Josie Gibson! She was great in "I'm a Celebrity......" smile

I think Alison Hammond reminds me of Rusty Lee both probably nice people but OTT. Not everyone’s cup of tea but their approach certainly gets them noticed and pays them.

I can’t stand her and change channel whenever she appears.

Seagull72 Sat 27-Jan-24 11:27:14

Hate all this fake jollity. Switch off anyone whose voice annoys me.

Who?

When Alison first started appearing on tv I thought she was incredibly annoying, but I happened to meet her when she was doing some filming in our village. What a lovely woman she is, very genuine and kind hearted. Her laugh is genuine and not put on at all.

I love AH, I always watch this morning when she’s on there with Dermot, and I also enjoy Josie. AH is now the most sought after TV presenter, now Holly Willoughby jumped ship. The program has never been the same since her and Philip were taken off air. They were a great couple, but Holly has never held my attention since. I find Amanda Holden fits your description of Alison Hammond

I used to like watching GBBO but she really spoils it for me, loud, shouty and just overpowering, seems to take enjoyment in distracting the contestants who are forced to laugh at her jokes

I don’t watch this morning but I like Alison, I think she is genuine. I find it a bit sad some posters on here find happiness and laughter annoying 😂

Cambsnan Sat 27-Jan-24 12:14:28

Glad it is not just me. I can’t watch her. Also when the are consulting with experts she talks over them with her opinions.

I can't bear shouty presenters and have simply stopped watching Bake Off

Don't others feel that at least one of the presenters on programmes like Bake Off should have some relevant knowledge, otherwise how do they judge? I do like Noel Fielding though.

TerriBull Sat 27-Jan-24 12:20:13

I like her, she is loud, sometimes a tad annoying, but not enough to make me dislike her, I perceive her as quite excitable it's just a facet of her personality those characteristics tend to go together, I think what you see is the real her rather than a manufactured for tv persona I remember her from BB one of the earlier ones which I watched until I got fed up with the format. I've always thought she has a lovely face, not that we should judge women on that.

TerriBull Sat 27-Jan-24 12:24:37

I've only seen her of late on Bake Off, I'm with Callistemon, "you'd have to pay me too to watch Loose Women"

I dont like her on BakeOff, laughs at nothing.

I completely agree, I find her voice loud and grating.

JaneJudge Sat 27-Jan-24 12:25:44

Did Sue and Mel have knowledge of baking?

Amalegra Sat 27-Jan-24 12:34:45

Alison Hammond is a bit much for me although she does seem very good natured. Strangely enough, I love Rustie Lee who certainly is OTT sometimes! But I find her laugh SO infectious and she always makes me smile.

I think AH is over-rated as a presenter. Overpaid too. The best presenters have a journalist background; know how to talk to people, how to interview and usually act with the decorum the job deserves. Many TV presenters are hard to understand as their diction is so poor.

Zeegran99 Sat 27-Jan-24 14:18:50

This thread spurred me on to sign up. I am surprised and disappointed at the tone on Gransnet about these two women. I find that most of the posts on Gransnet usually seem kinder than on Mumsnet, The criticism of Alison Hammond & Rustie Lee has been rather harsh for them just being themselves. I like them both just the way they are. Alison isn’t a presenter on Loose women, those are other women of a similar hue, take a proper look and note the difference.

Janeea Sat 27-Jan-24 14:22:39

I thought the same about her on Bake-off wasn’t sure I would carry on watching it but she was good
