Alison Hammond shouty and disturbing

Could the programme and advertisement makers please ask this presenter to tone it down a peg? She's everywhere, shrieking and shouting and laughing uproariously at nothing! Im not being anti-Brummie - I'm from the West Midlands myself and hearing the accent makes me feel at home. I just cant bear it and have to hit the mute button whenever she's on, so whatever she is advocating or presenting goes unheard - by me at least!

Oh no! Just been reading she will be presenting For The Love Of Dogs now after Paul O’Grady passed away.

Why is she flavour of the year suddenly? I can’t see anything very special about her so what is it she has that appeals to Producers?

not a fan of AH, her voice annoys me, now i need to give up one of my favourite tv shows as she is taking over from paul o'grady.

Yes, I feel the same.

Would rather watch and listen to Alison than super irritating Josie Gibson. That accent is so cringe.

Slightly off piste. I wish AH would get her facts right. When she was interviewing Cliff Richard recently he was discussing famous people he has met and he mentioned Elvis and Cliff said he hadn’t been photographed with him because Elvis was was overweight and wouldn’t look how people remembered him. Alison chastised Cliff and said ‘just because he is a tiny bit overweight etc etc’.

Elvis was at that stage very ill, over 25 stone and had chronic constipation. Poor man he needed help not a photograph taken. Cliff did the right thing.

I just cannot understand why AH is flavour of the year. We are seeing too much of her. She is too loud, talks over people and has that horrible false laugh.

How much prefer Josie Gibson

Alison was absolutely right, as is clear in the interview. Cliff may have done the right thing but not for the right reason. He clearly stated he reversed his decision to meet Elvis as Elvis had put on weight and he didn't want a photo of himself and a fat Elvis on his refrigerator. At no time did Cliff say anything about Elvis being ill (although he was). It was a very crass thing to say, Alison hardly "chastised" him she may a very good point that you shouldn't put off meeting someone because of their weight and Cliff agreed with her. She made a numerous rhetorical aside about Cliff not wanting her at his house which was received in good humour. I'm not keen on Alison Hammond but find she's often incorrectly criticised but in this interview she was spot on. There are clips available (unedited) to view.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds AH loud and overbearing. My heart sank when I heard she was taking over on Bake Off, and her first series didn't make me change my mind.

I take your point OldFrill. 👍

Aveline Fri 29-Mar-24 17:03:35

I don't watch Bake Off any more because of her.

I haven't seen Alison Hammond recently, but when I have seen her I have always like her, she has just been very jolly and uplifting, she just has a bubbly personality.

I am not sure who she is, there are so many shouty people on tv these days.

BlueBelle Fri 29-Mar-24 17:26:19

I don’t watch that many programmes she’s on but I think shes fun and at heart a nice person I like her she always seems ‘real’
Well more real than many
I think she gets unfair criticism I d rather have her than some stoney faced correct person I bet she’d be great fun to have an evening out with

harrysgran Fri 29-Mar-24 19:33:00

Well said OldFrill like or dislike AH she did the correct thing in pulling him up about what he said
