This kind of presentation seems to be either what people want now - or perhaps what they get, like it or not. This morning, driving to see DD, I switched on Radio 4 - programme title unknown - which seemed to be about Pythagoras and Socrates, and perhaps other great minds of the ancient world. However, having picked up a few interesting snippets such as Pythagoras is now believed to have been of African descent, and Socrates liked going to the gym (he felt exercise made his intellect sharper) I had to switch off. One of the presenters kept cackling with laughter and talking loudly over the rest, which was a great pity as she was the principal speaker, with interesting information. Radio 4 appears to have turned Saturday mornings into what sound like private parties for people who have had a lot of blue Smarties and won't let anyone else get a word in - it's almost like standing outside in a corridor trying to listen and make sense of what is being said.
