How do we think Alison did?

The fears on GN were that she would be too loud on the Love of Dogs programme. I thought she came across well and mostly spoke softly. Paul was a hard act to follow, but I was pleasantly surprised.

She made a complete mess of giving the puppy a bottle. Not tipped up
So the poor puppy will have been gulping air not milk .
And the long talon nails! Not suitable at all to be with any animal. She’ll have their eyes out with those claws .!
Martin Clunes would be the right person for this programme

I really enjoyed it. I thought Alison got it right. I used not to like her, I found her too loud, until I met her unexpectedly and she came across as a very nice person.

For how big a star Paul was he never made the show about him he made it about the dogs after all it was all about them but i know Alison had big shoes to fill but it was more for the love of Alison not for the love of dogs and if she is left she will ruin his show. It needs someone who loves dogs she is coming across like it’s just an another job. I won’t be watching it again

Agree Dillonsgranma she should not have been allowed to hold or feed that puppy

Babamaman Sun 21-Apr-24 11:47:04

Don’t be cruel. She has a hard act to follow and people didn’t like Paul at first. She is a bit too much true, but she isn’t a pro presenter. A weird route for her.
She is better on the dog show than This morning- she must learn to tone down - give her time - be kind

Anniebach Sun 21-Apr-24 11:49:11

Yes she is an act, not being cruel just concern for dogs

I am not a fan of AH in fact I will usually turn off is she is on and even the adverts gets muted. I did watch For the Love of Dogs and must admit she wasn't as bad as I thought she would be but saying that, I am not sure if I will make a point of watching again. Yes Paul O'Grady was a special man.

I was pleasantly surprised by the show, but spent the time worrying that those nails would damage the dogs and her jewelry seemed to get in the way of everything

sazz1 Sun 21-Apr-24 13:37:52

I watched it and think she did very well. Much better than she is on this morning

albertina Sun 21-Apr-24 14:18:47

I was so disappointed to hear AH was taking over from Paul O'Grady.

Surely they could have found someone with more dignity and genuine love of animals.

Camille333 Sun 21-Apr-24 15:15:35

Unfortunately she didn't seem to connect with the dogs or have the right sense of humour. It was very strained.

Greciangirl Sun 21-Apr-24 15:47:42

Too big and too loud.
I avoided the programme as she seems to be on too many programmes and advertising.

Does she ever get a day of I wonder.

The wrong person definitely to host Battersea.

The usual hostile and unkind comments about people from "Anniebach" towards people she has never met. Her comments often reveal a bitter, uncompassionate, racist and uneducated person.

MissAdventure Sun 21-Apr-24 16:17:03

Should we all pretend we love Alison, then, WHEN ASKED?
Some people don't like her; it's as simple as that.

Kate1949 Sun 21-Apr-24 16:26:58

Anyone who has been in GN for any length of time knows that Anniebach is none of those things Jenn53.

MissAdventure Sun 21-Apr-24 16:28:52

Yes, strange to single out Annie.

IamMaz Sun 21-Apr-24 16:30:33

I wish Julian Clary had been given the job. He was a good friend of Paul O’Grady.

Anniebach Sun 21-Apr-24 16:33:43

Thank you Kate1949 why such hatred is baffling, I have been involved with dog rescue for years, the programme was far more about the presenter that the dogs

Kate1949 Sun 21-Apr-24 16:38:37

To accuse you of being hostile and unkind to someone you've never met whilst doing the same to you!

Anniebach Sun 21-Apr-24 16:43:51

True Katie seems I am racist because I said holding a puppy
with long finger nails is wrong

Kate1949 Sun 21-Apr-24 16:46:19

Oh dear!

Cid24 Sun 21-Apr-24 16:51:31

Can’t stand her. No substitute for Paul in the least!

Lucyd Sun 21-Apr-24 17:34:26

I am not a huge fan of Alison but thought she did okay. She wasn't loud but I think anyone would struggle to follow on from the wonderful Paul. Martin Clunes would have been excellent as he is an animal lover and it shows.

melp1 Sun 21-Apr-24 17:40:00

Its a no from me. They've chosen the wrong person they needed someone with more empathy with the dogs. Think Mollie King, Gaby Roslin, Alan Carr, Kirsty Gallacher, Peter Egan, or Ricky Gervais all would have been much better and made it more about the dogs.

Deedaa Sun 21-Apr-24 17:53:45

Off the top of my head I would say that Ricky Gervais, Peter Egan and Martin Clunes are too busy with their own work to commit to a programme like this. I was actually pleasantly surprised by Alison, who was much quieter than I expected. I'm sure the Battersea staff will educate her about anything she is doing wrong.
