“Revenge” on channel 5. Set in the US, will draw you in, or not. It’s a long series, but I stuck with is over several weeks. My perception of the protagonist changed by the end.

Blue Lights

Blue Lights is brilliant. Watch series one first.

I agree about Blue Lights. It's so good.

I have quite enjoyed Granite Harbour too.

"Prisoner" BBC 4 with Sophie Grabol from "The Killing"
Slow Horses (Apple)
A lot of the " Walter Presents " stuff (Channel 4) is Scandi Noir stuff and if you enjoyed "Reindeer Mafia" you might enjoy some of them.
"Traces" BBC1
Ripley Netflix
Wallander Netflix also I think
Young Wallander
"For All Mankind" Apple

Mrs Wilson on Netflix.

I watched it several years ago when it was serialised but now all episodes are on NF and I'm watching it again. It's based on a true story in the actress Ruth Wilson's family and it's fascinating. Ruth Wilson stars.

I enjoyed Granite Harbour too.
It reminded me of one many years ago called 55%North.
I shall look for that again.
I have recently enjoyed Hijack with Idris Elba and Red eye.
Still got Blue Lights on hold.
My GD and I have enjoyed the adaptations of some Harlen Coben books.

Thank you.
I appreciate your suggestions and will take a look!

Bodkin on Netflix.

I confess I'm not usually drawn to anything "based on real life" unless shrouded in the mists of time. I will take a look though. I think a couple of these are based on true stories.

One tonight Channel 4, The Gathering, might be worth a look.

I recently watched Clocking Off on BBCiPlayer following advice by a GNetter - thoroughly enjoyed the down to earth characters and storylines.

The Man in Fall on Netflix, a new series adapted from a Tobias Wolfe novel stars Jeff Daniels. About a dodgy businessman, his trophy wife, the ex wife and others and their part in his downfall. Only 6 episodes but binge watched over 2 evenings.

Blue Lights is excellent - well acted and a plot that keeps me on the edge of my chair. I've also been watching The Man in Fall which is strangely addictive, given that I can't feel much sympathy for any of the characters. The 'Man' in question is not entirely unlike Trump.

Echo Blue Lights, Granite Harbour and Red Eye - though Red Eye requires some allowance for dramatic licence. And, it does have the gorgeous Richard Atmstrong to recommend it

Muddy Waters on Netflix
Dopesick - not sure what channel that's on
Sweet Magnolias Netflix for something a bit more restful and Virgin River.
Fisk - Netflix very gentle humour
The Lincoln Lawyer Netflix

Visgir1 Tue 14-May-24 14:45:23

Disney +... Star. "Death and other details" Bonkers but I enjoyed it.

Hi that was me! Clocking Off was amazing, so different from what goes out now. I'm sick of Police, murder, serial killers, violence and gore. This was about real people with great storylines and we saw all the A List actors of today in their earlier roles. There are lots of episodes on BBC iPlayer.

Thank you again everyone.
I've watched and enjoyed lots on Walter Presents - and the scandi ones too.

Will look out some of these.

Without any subscriptions so all free (that's me!) I'm thoroughly enjoying:
All Saints (Amazon Freevee) - Australian hospital
Blue Heelers (Amazon Freevee) - Australian Police
London's Burning (UKTV Play) - classic British drama!
Mad Men (UKTV Play) - 1960s America, brilliant!

I actually don't mind blood and grit to be honest!

Yes, the Lincoln Lawyer was good and the Night Agent too if anyone else is looking!

NotSpaghetti Tue 14-May-24 15:41:35

Lots of ideas here. Thanks again..

Inside no 9 has just started its final series. My sister has never heard of it!
Fantastic television.

Bodkin, on Netflix. Quirky often funny Irish mystery.
