Fantastic scenery in South America - shame about the irritating celebs grin

TerriBull Thu 22-Aug-24 17:03:37

I'm watching it, I love South America, I've been to Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, so I'm really interested in this particular one. I'm viewing it for the scenery which is stunning, rather than the participants.

Sparklefizz Thu 22-Aug-24 17:09:41

Wow! How fabulous to have travelled there TerriBull

MissInterpreted Thu 22-Aug-24 17:13:37

Scenery is amazing - with hopefully much more stunning sights to come. It's always interesting to see how the 'celebrity' pairs fare as the series progresses though.

I am enjoying this season. I was rather sad last night to hear Jeff Brazier say that he had forgotten how to play and have fun. He has worked hard to make a good life for his sons and himself since losing Jade, and made a good job of it, himself qualifying as a therapist.

The celeb I find irritating is Kelly Brook, so different from her husband in nature.

Nicolaed Thu 22-Aug-24 17:36:41

I preferred the first series of Celebrity Race Across the World but I'm not sure how much that has to do with the people or the filming / editing - it just doesn't flow this time. Having said that I’m really loving watching and listening to Jeff Brazier and relishing the relationship he has with his son. Kelly Brook? Mmm, no thanks.

Yes, he's been an amazing dad to his boys, and hopefully this adventure will help him to realise that and see that he has done a great job with them, and he will make time for himself and have fun.

I would like Jeff and Freddie to win 👍

Have fond memories of a family holiday in Brazil (Salvador and down to Rio)

I also like Chris Moyles and his husband (it was filmed before their wedding)

shysal Thu 22-Aug-24 18:19:38

I think you mean Scott Mills, also an ex Radio 1 DJ.

Sparklefizz Thu 22-Aug-24 18:29:39

Another No re Kelly Brooks here. I really like her husband, but think they're an odd couple. As you say shysal, "so different in nature."

Jeff Brazier seems a very kind, caring and empathetic dad.

🤦‍♀️ of course I mean Scott Mills!!! I listen to him most days.

Sorry folks, my brain is rather busy at the moment.

lixy Thu 22-Aug-24 18:49:14

I’m not keen on Scott Mills in the afternoon but am finding him much more palatable in the mornings as he is standing in for Zoe Ball at the moment - maybe it’s the lack of the ‘love you, bye’ phrase in the mornings! I am enjoying watching his progress through Brazil but would like Joe and Freddie to win.

I definitely enjoyed the first celebrity version from the word go - not so much this one. I thought the partners were really engaging and I got invested in them early on. Still enjoying it though, especially now Kola and Mary-Ellen have realised they're in a race!

I guess Kelly Brook just said yes without actually understanding what's involved. The travel is rarely comfortable or luxurious and there's always overnighters -either bus or train.

I took my eye of the actual people last night for a lot of the time - what an absolutely stunning and fascinating country.

As a travelogue it was brilliant.

Casdon Thu 22-Aug-24 19:33:35

I’m enjoying this too, the views from the alpaca farm were out of this world, weren’t they? I like Race across the World best when they visit places I’ve never been, so this series so far is right up my street.

Sparklefizz Thu 22-Aug-24 19:33:52

Yuk! They've just shown the overflowing toilet on the bus. No wonder Scott was feeling sick. So was I after seeing that.

I've had a "thing" about toilets since childhood and so I did wonder how they were managing on these long journeys. The toilet on the last National Express coach I travelled on was pretty stinky but nothing like the one shown in this last episode. Yuk ... and yuk again!!!

foxie48 Thu 22-Aug-24 21:47:53

I love race across the world, prefer the general public to celebs but I'm another who would like Jeff and Freddie to win.

henetha Thu 22-Aug-24 23:18:46

What amazing places in south America. I'd love to go there.
I like the whole thing including the celebs, they're all interesting in their own way. I agree, Jeff and Freddie to win.

NotAGran55 Fri 23-Aug-24 06:05:22

This series is one of my all time favourites. Team Jeff and Freddie Brazier here.
Jade would be very proud of her family I think😢

DanniRae Fri 23-Aug-24 08:42:27

I am LOVING this series but not keen on the 'famous' actor and his cousin.
I don't mind Kelly and her husband and Scott and his (then) fiance. I also hope that Jeff and Freddie win!
I also agree that the scenery is amazing smile

pascal30 Fri 23-Aug-24 08:49:10

The scenery is fabulous.. I like watching Freddie's relationship with animals.. he has a real love for them..

annodomini Fri 23-Aug-24 09:03:47

I was impressed with the way Jeff left the planning to Freddie in this week's episode and even more impressed with Freddie's handling of the responsibility. Those two deserve to win the challenge.

escaped Fri 23-Aug-24 09:11:31

Not places I would choose to visit now, but great experience for the younger types.

dogsmother Fri 23-Aug-24 09:47:02

I’m rather enjoying all of them for different reasons. Probably as celebrity’s none of them are particularly celebrityfied.

Chardy Fri 23-Aug-24 10:00:17

I'm finding 3 if the couples really irritating. One couple I reach for mute irritating fast forward when they're on.
I didn't feel like this in series 1. In fact, I think I liked the all more by the end.

I've never heard of any of them before.. I was watching how they make these series and they always have a team of film makers with each couple so not sure quite how the logistics of booking tickets really works..

Loving the scenery..
