Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-24 10:14:01

Yes, I think Craig's opinion is the one most valued.... possibly Shirley's verbal advice comes 2nd when she's being sensible but her marks are often ridiculous.

Anton is pretty much of a joke in my view.

Clawdy Sun 24-Nov-24 11:28:15

I've always liked Anton, but he's getting sillier each week now.

Millie22 Sun 24-Nov-24 11:34:06

I agree about Anton. He seems to have changed this year and gone all daft.

Definitely a 10 from Craig is very valued.

petal53 Sun 24-Nov-24 11:41:15

I like Anton.

Hellogirl1 Sun 24-Nov-24 12:22:01

So do I

Kim19 Sun 24-Nov-24 12:46:57

Think Chris is quite wonderful and has a natural sense of rhythm but do worry that part of his vote holds a degree of loving sympathy. I'm hoping like mad that BBC produces an in depth documentary of their training sessions which I would find fascinating. Sarah's my shining star. Absolutely amazing..........

Fleurpepper Sun 24-Nov-24 12:55:46

Chris's journey has been nothing but amazing, and very moving. But it's time to go now, and with head so high and great dignity. Wow.

I agree. He didn’t look comfortable with the paso and I would not like to see him struggle to stay in. He’s been fantastic!

I like Anton.

I like Anton as well. He’s not loud and he doesn’t shout over everyone.
I would be delighted to get a good mark from Craig though.

petal53 Sun 24-Nov-24 13:21:33

I’d like Tasha to win. I think she’s the best dancer.

Sara1954 Sun 24-Nov-24 14:26:47

I think Tasha is a wonderful dancer, but I think Sarah puts more feeling into her dancing, she’s my winner

Clawdy Sun 24-Nov-24 17:27:04

Would love to see JB in the final. Tasha is a lovely dancer, but also a trained one, and that always seems wrong.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 24-Nov-24 17:40:18

Tasha went to CAPA in Slough as well as doing ballet as a child.

She has also worked as a professional bar dancer as well as a model.

Whilst I agree she is a good dancer, she is a trained dancer, as was the boy who Nikita danced with the other year.

Comparing Tasha with Chris and other untrained dancers is unfair in my opinion.

Mollygo Sun 24-Nov-24 17:42:36

I like Anton too, especially as he is not loud. I’d love to get a high mark from Craig, because he hands them out so rarely, but that’s his trademark.
Crotchety Craig, Mouthy Motsi, Shouty Shirley, all silly in their own way, so Anton fits in well.

escaped Sun 24-Nov-24 17:46:23

All those three -Tasha, JB and Sarah should be in the final. I'll eat my socks, (well my ballet tights anyway!), if Pete is there with them. And I agree with others that Chris has had his day now.

You’re right, as is comparing Sarah with them. Sarah did dance training from the age of three, and went to musical theatre college, before appearing in various musicals and other shows. I’d prefer somebody with no previous training to win.

rafichagran Sun 24-Nov-24 18:02:46

I like Pete and Chris, they are not trained dancers and at this stage it is beginning to show.
I think I would still like to see Chris get to the final though.
My final three would be JB, Chris and I don't care who the other one is.

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-24 18:03:56

What constitutes ‘previous training’ though?

Does attending tap and ballet classes as a child count?

Same as ‘Dancing On Ice’. There must be people who have never stepped on a skating rink, and others who have been whizzing about on skates from early childhood.

None of which can be fair really.

It’s a difficult one, as many celebrities, soap stars etc have been to stage school where there is an element of dance involved.

But doing a dance course for two/three years should be enough to exclude anyone from Strictly as they have a definite advantage.

escaped Sun 24-Nov-24 18:16:28

Any attendance at tap, ballet, and jazz classes will count because you instinctively know how to position yourself and how to execute the movements.
I think it's only if you've been on stage that you really know how to present your routines, usually in front of an audience, if you get what I mean. It's those who have been trained in the art of "performing" who will have the edge.

Casdon Sun 24-Nov-24 18:18:07

Sarah’s previous trading was pretty extensive Calendargirl according to the Independent:

‘After leaving home at 16, she trained at Laine Theatre Arts College in Epsom, Surrey and made her on-screen debut with a minor role in the second series of the political sitcom The Thick of It, alongside Peter Capaldi and Chris Addison.

Like her fellow Strictly 2024 contestant Tasha Ghouri, Hadland already has some dance experience, having trained in ballet from the age of three. Ahead of landing an acting role, she started her career dancing in West End musicals, including Cats and Grease when she was 19.’

Casdon Sun 24-Nov-24 18:18:28

Sorry - training, not trading.

escaped Sun 24-Nov-24 18:22:50

Yes, Casdon, I'm not sure about all stage schools, but at most places pupils will study dance, singing, and acting.

ferry23 Sun 24-Nov-24 18:48:26

Jamie attended the Sylvia Young school so he too would have had at least some basic dance training. Any actor/actress who attended stage school would have had dance in one form or another as part of the curriculum.

Sparklefizz Sun 24-Nov-24 19:42:47

Pete was shocked not to be in the dance off!
