Sam NEILL And Annette Bening star in this 7 part drama when the Mom goes missing…seems intriguing… anyone else watching.

Yes I’m going to give it a go.

Another Liane Moriarty book where the location is changed from Australia to the USA (although I think it was filmed on the Gold Coast).

A good cast, so will give it a try.

The book was great, can't understand why the location has been changed .. but anything with Sam Neill is a must-watch for me so I'm really spoilt, having recently binge-watched the second series of The Twelve.

I enjoyed the book, so will give it a try.

I’m watching it.

I'm really liking it and can see the resemblance to several Australian series.. which I also enjoyed immensely..

I watched the first episode tonight and enjoyed it. I love Annette Benning who I think is an underused actor and of course Sam Neil is always worth watching. The mysteries were well set up and I look forward to the next episode.

It took me a while to decide whether to continue to watch it but I am glad I did. A pity it was on after Strictly because for me that was too long.

I am looking forward to next week's episode.

I’ve just finished bingeing it.

It’s all on iPlayer. Love S Neill so
Will watch tho I have read the book.

Sparklefizz Sun 22-Sept-24 08:54:16

I've read the book, and love Sam Neill (recommend watching him in The Twelve on ITVX - brilliant) so will be watching Apples.

I gave up too. Too long drawn out and too much skipping back and forth, with nothing really happening.

It’s on my ever-growing list of things to try. I like the premise, so am hopeful. Plus the BBC has a track record of decent drama. My heart sinks when a good cast and promising story turns out to be on Channel Five. I don’t know why the channel should matter, but I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a C5 series to the end.

Beechnut Sun 22-Sept-24 09:10:37

I stuck with it as I usually find Saturday tv dire but I’m of the same opinion as you Pittcity.

kircubbin2000 Sun 22-Sept-24 09:15:40

Missed the start because it began earlier than advertised here. Was disappointed as it was so slow I don't remember Brook being a lesbian in the book? Was she?
The book was good but I think I'll go back to my repeat viewing of Happy Valley.

Jaxjacky Sun 22-Sept-24 09:52:44

Agree too with Pittcity it felt compressed.

I have enjoyed all of Liane Moriarty's books, but never watched the TV dramas. I have set Apples Never Fall to record, so will give it a try.
If anyone is interested, Liane's latest book is out this week - Here One Moment. I rarely buy books new, but I do pre-order hers and also Santa Montefiore's, which then do the rounds with friends and family before ending up in the local 'bus stop library'.

I loved the book.

henetha Sun 22-Sept-24 11:43:53

I enjoyed the first episode last night and will definitely be watching the next.

Enjoyed the book, looking forward to seeing how this series develops. The casting looks really good.

Strange really, the book is set in Sydney and the series was filmed on the Gold Coast so why pretend it's America?

I nearly gave it up around then too, but I stuck it out. It’s ok but just like every other programme that’s been ‘bigged up’ it doesn’t live up to the promise.
I’ll carry on until I decide whether to go as far as the end or not. At the moment, it’s toss a coin time! Just can’t decide.

Bea65 Sun 22-Sept-24 12:09:15

I’m sticking with it … it’s on iPLAYER so with all this rain today going to binge watch… yes finding the Then and Now a bit distracting but do like Sam Neill and also love THE TWELVE .
Annette BENING haven’t seen her much of her in films/dramas and wonder when this was filmed.?
